Soojin had a rule never to get involved with her co-workers and for a long time she managed to stick to that rule until the rookie named Yeh Shuhua appeared in the Major Crime Investigation Division, Shuhua was charming, funny and spontaneous and in a short time she managed to knock the walls around Soojin's heart. At first they hid their relationship from their colleagues to avoid gossip, but after Soojin was shot in the arm and a worried Shuhua almost broke down the hospital trying to see her, they ended up assuming their relationship. No relationship is perfect, they had their ups and downs but as soon as gay marriage became legal in South Korea Shuhua proposed to her. They bought a house, adopted two dogs but still... the house felt empty in a way, that's when Soojin suggested they have a baby, at first Shuhua was apprehensive about the idea of a child, they worked in a dangerous division and had made enemies over the years but after much discussion they decided they would change divisions, they loved MCID but they had lost a lot of colleagues over the years and it was a risk they didn't want to take, Shuhua used her university degree and went to Cyber Investigation Division while Soojin went to Financial Crime Investigation Division, they were still dangerous jobs but they stopped being at gun point almost every day.

Undercover operations weren't that common in Soojin's division but they were investigating some lone sharks and she had been tasked with infiltrating a company, both were apprehensive but tried not to show it around Hayun, their daughter was only four years old but she was a very smart and perceptive child, the day before the operation started Soojin took Hayun for a walk and explained that she would be away for a few days, the girl was sad but understood that her eomma needed to work and assured that she would take care of Shuhua and the dogs. Two weeks had passed since Soojin had infiltrated the company and Shuhua was getting more and more apprehensive, she knew these things took time but she couldn't help but worry, especially with Hayun asking every day if Soojin would come home soon, saying on Hayun she was walking around the house wearing one of Soojin's t-shirts, she had tried to roll up the shirt but it was too big for her and Hayun ended up stepping on it and tripping
