-This place is amazing

Soojin straightened her backpack as she left the airport, she had already been to Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, pretty much all of Southeast Asia, them one of her backpacker friends had suggested they go to Taiwan to visit her family, Gigi was sure that Soojin would get along very well with her cousin, everything was ready for their trip but on the day they were going to travel Gigi's father had a heart attack and they had to travel to China's to visit him, they suggested that Soojin go with them to Beijing but Soojin preferred to go to Taipei without them, it was a delicate moment for Gigi's family and she didn't want to get in the way, they said goodbye at the airport with the promise to gather in Taipei as soon as Mr. Song recovered

Soojin looked at the taxis parked at the airport and sighed, she got used to living in cheap hostels, eating street foods, she managed everything except the language barrier, she spoke english so she got by most places where she traveled but she didn't know chinese, she had planned the trip to Taiwan counting on Gigi to translate when she needed it but now she would have to fend for herself, luckily for Soojin the taxi she took spoke english and she managed to get to the hostel she was staying, she talked to the attendant, took the key and went to her room, it was a simple room but the bed was more comfortable than she could have imagined, she threw herself on the bed and ended up falling asleep, too much tired to eat. Hours later when Soojin woke up she took a shower and decided to walk around the neighborhood, the hostel was in the Da'an district and the atmosphere on the streets was calm, there were lots of people going in and out of karaoke and she made a mental note to make a Karaoke night with Jelly and Gigi when they arrived, she strolled through some nightmarkets, she eated some Gua Bao and decided to go back to the hostel, she had a long day ahead of her.

Renewed with her night's sleep Soojin decided to explore Taipei for the first time, she walked through some markets, shops and rented a bike to explore some spots in the center that she knew were worth checking out, she ended up stopping in front of Taipei 101,  Taiwan's tallest building

-Beautiful isn't it? Too bad it is no longer the tallest building in the world.

Soojin turned around and met with a tall brunette girl in a dress smiling at her

-What?

The girl looked at her with a confused expression and pointed to the building.

-I'm talking about the building.

Soojin looked at the building and at the girl without understanding anything.

-Sorry, I don't speak Chinese, do you speak English?

The girl waved her hands

-No english no english

Soojin laughed at the situation, the first girl who struck up a conversation with her and she didn't understand anything she said.

-What am I going to do now? I don't understand what you're saying

The girl's eyes had an attractive gleam and she was looking at Soojin with a mixture of curiosity and disappointment.

-I can't speak chinese, my name is Seo Soojin

Soojin said with a broken chinese and the girl gave her a huge smile and pointed to herself

-Yeh Shuhua

-XUHAH?

The girl pronounced her name slowly and Soojin after a few tries ended up pronouncing it correctly.

-Cute

The girl did not seem bothered by the lack of understanding between them and she pointed to the bike Soojin was riding and to hers

-Do you want to ride with me?

Soojin asked the girl and got on the bike, the girl cracked a smile and nodded her head getting on her bike

-Well, you live here, why don't you guide me Shuhua?

Soojin asked pointing to Shuhua who nodded and started pedaling, the area where they were is full of extravagant malls and the modern architecture of the area caught Soojin's attention, Shuhua practically didn't speak during the tour, they visited the Temple of Songshan Fengtian and Soojin smiled as Shuhua explained everything to her with almost childlike happiness. Soojin groaned when she finally remembered the language guide she had bought at the airport, with the guide in hand she was able to ask Shuhua questions which she answered with a broken english and a smile, a cute one, the bike ride ended up tiring them so they returned the bikes and went to eat something at a restaurant, Soojin asked Shuhua to order what made the Taiwanese talk excitedly with the attendant, Soojin was charmed by the kindness and courtesy radiating from her, as soon as the attendant took the orders Shuhua asked Soojin a lot of questions, with the help of her language guide Soojin was able to answer most of them and ask Shuhua a few things too, apparently she was 22 years old, and for Soojin's joy she lived in Da´na district too, it was Shuhua´s university summer vacation and that´s why she was walking around Xinyi. After lunch they decided to go to Xinyi Public Assembly because Soojin wanted to visit the fair and buy some things, they took turns with the language guide which made it easier for them to talk, Shuhua had more difficulty with the Korean language so she talked to Soojin in English, her accent was cute and she slurred her words but Soojin could understand her and that was what mattered, they ended up going back to the hostel together and agreed to go for a walk together the next day, when Soojin finally got into her bed she couldn't stop smiling while remembering Shuhua, the Taiwanese had been such a pleasant surprise and she couldn't wait to see her again.
