C110 - That’s So Amazing!

Maybe it was because Madam Kwon gave Sandara Park  such a special treatment that everyone seemed to be waiting to see her fall.

Third Mrs. Kwon and Tiffany Kwon couldn’t hide their expectations, eyes fixated on the box in Sandara Park  hand and minds already rehearsing the words they were going to use to humiliate Sandara.

Sandara Park calmed and took in the looks people were giving her. She didn’t seem to be bothered the slightest. She kept smiling and holding the hanbok box at the level of the old lady’s chin. Then she opened the box slowly while everyone watched her with great curiosity and expectation.

“Grandma, this is a small gift from me, and I hope you like it.”

The second the box was opened, almost everyone was staring into the box at the hanbok inside. Then the next second, waves of laughter followed.

As a birthday gift for the old lady, everyone thought that Sandara Park would at least find something a little classier, even when she couldn’t afford a pricey hanbok like the Phoenix Ascend. After all, her family was running a business and she was a famous screen writer herself, so she should have some money.

When she opened that box, all everyone saw was a plain-colored hanbok with a few simple lilies and two dragonflies sewed on it.

The moment Madam Kwon saw the hanbok, her eyes focused sharply, and her expression became complicated.

The dining hall fell into extraordinary silence once again, and Sandara Park could feel everybody’s eyes on her and the Hanbok in her hands.

“Sandara Park! Is this the hanbok you’re giving Big Grandma?” Tiffany high-pitched syrupy voice sounded. “Did you get it off the street? Did you find a box from Madam Chang hanbok store and pretended it to be the good stuff?”

“Sure enough, a woman from an insignificant family can never be classy, no matter how glamorous she looked on the outside!” Third Mrs. Kwon finally found the opportunity for revenge and her remarks became increasingly aggressive. “What a disgrace! Do you seriously think you deserve to be the future first lady of the Kwon Family?”

“If she doesn’t deserve it, do you deserve it, Third Mrs. Kwon?” The sound of Kwon Jiyong voice made the air of the whole room freeze.

Stunned, Kwon Sangjoon looked up at Kwon Jiyong  and was met with that pair of deep and accusatory eyes. Kwon Sangjoon became immediately disturbed and quickly shifted his gaze to avoid those eyes that could freeze people to death.

Third Mrs. Kwon quivered and said with a switching mouth, “Jiyong, you know I didn’t mean it like that. I was just feeling sorry for you.”

“Huh, then I should thank you Third Auntie.” The voice of Kwon Jiyong was full of sarcasm, turning the face of Third Mrs. Kwon from white to red.

Nobody had high hopes for the gift that Sandara Park  was giving the old lady as they watched with curiosity as bystanders. Then Sandara really made it worth their curiosity and anticipation, surprising them with something even tackier than they had thought.

There was a saying “Poverty limits imagination”, but there, it should be changed to “Wealth limits imagination”.

Han Hyejin had just started to improve her impression of Sandara Park, but she fell apart like that so soon. With a stern look, Han Hyejin said unhappily, “Take this thing away!”

Sandara Park looked at Han Hyejin and asked confusedly, “Why are you taking it way?”

 Han Hyejin didn’t know how to respond and looked at Kwon Jeongmin furiously. “This is the woman that you said had a brain? She is dumber than me!”

At that moment, Madam Kwon, who was quiet with a complicated expression the whole time, burst into tears. Everybody there was caught off guard by the sudden development.

With Madam Kwon tears, the entire scene went out of control.

It was just one hanbok, but Madam Kwom was so angry to the point of tears. After all, the bigger the anticipation, the bigger the disappointment. Madam Kwon liked Sandara Park so much, yet she had the audacity to bring something like that as Madam Kwon gift. The worst part was that she acted as though she was in the right the whole time, how could Madam Kwon not get angry?!

Kwon Jiyong did not expect his own grandma to cry either, but when he saw the pattern on the hanbok in Sandara Park hands, he understood. He met Sandara eyes, and there was nothing but relief and love in them.

“Sandara Park, look how angry Granny got, hurry and take your lowly gift away!” Tiffany announced.
