Chapter 51

To New Beginnings—

Yun naman palagi ang sinasabi after graduating diba? I’ve anticipated for this moment to arrive months before actually graduating because of reasons that are a lot more different than now. Alam niyo naman na siguro ang nangyari. I don’t have to elaborate.

Moving forward was my future with a beautiful woman named Joohyun. She’s standing there sa may entrance ng Nicanor Abelardo Theater kasama ng parents niya. They were taking her pictures in her toga when I saw them. She beamed when she saw me approaching with my parents. I think it’s the best time my parents get to finally meet her.

“Hello po.” I shyly said. I’ve met her parents before but not like how I’ve met them when Joohyun told them na I’m the new girlfriend. God knows how nervous I am kasi nakakatakot ang daddy niya. When I told them about Joohyun and I’s plan after college, they didn’t react right away.

I felt the need to explain more so I did. Sabi ko, it’s best if Joohyun lives close to where she works para she didn’t have to drive far away lagi. I told them Joohyun didn have to go home alone because I’d pick her up everyday after ng work niya and her dad seemed to soften. Her dad asked me about my parents, my background, and lifestyle. Hindi naman ako party girl so I told them I don’t go to clubs. But I enjoy karaoke though and I flat out told them I didn’t know how to cook. Nevertheless, useful naman sa ibang bagay like cleaning and maybe doing the laundry and it made her dad laugh.

Pakiramdam ko at that time I was being grilled pero I couldn’t blame them. Joohyun is an only child tapos sobrang ganda pa, tangina, kung magkaanak din ako tapos ganun kaganda, I think I’d be a strict parent too. “I’ll let my daughter live with you in one condition.”  Sabi ng dad niya. “Ano po yun?” I asked.  “Wag mong papaiyakin ang anak ko.” He said.

“Hindi ko naman po maipapangako yun, kasi baka umiyak po siya sa sobrang saya.” Sabi ko naman trying my best to be as witty as possible kahit na out of character naman talaga tong pinag gagawa ko and luckily, tumawa naman ulit ang daddy niya. “Kung ito ang gusto ng anak ko, then you have my permission. Joohyun, hija, ito ba talaga ang gusto mo?” Tanong ng daddy niya and she nodded eagerly while smiling.  Finally. I thought. That was it. It was going to be her and me in the world of adulthood. –

Back to the event hall, Joohyun’s parents and mine met. It was the time I formally introduced Joohyun to them as my girlfriend. My mom hugged Joohyun and told her how happy she was because I already found someone special. They never knew anything about sa nangyari samin ni Jennie. Our parents are friends too. It would be too awkward to find out that their daughters dated in the past.

Our families ended up celebrating our graduations together. That means, we had dinner together and it was one of the best dinners I’ve had for a very long time. It was pleasant and walang awkwardness between two parties. Joohyun and I enjoyed being with our families while they get to know each other.

We talked about kung ano pa ang mga gamit na kailangan namin sa unit and we agreed to shop the next day kasi gusto ni Joohyun ng purple curtains. “Ayaw mo ng yellow?” I asked. “Ang liwanag ng kurtina mo dun masakit sa mata” Sabi niya naman. “Ay wow. Di ka naman nagrereklamo before.” Sabi ko naman and chuckled. “Di naman ako nakatira dun before.”  Sabi niya naman. “O di ayun nga sabi ko nga gusto mo ng purple na kurtina.”  Sabi ko naman ang she laughed. “Thank you b.” Sabi niya. “You’re welcome.” bulong ko sakanya and kissed her cheek lightly.

After our dinner ended, Joohyun and I decided to go our separate ways first. It won’t be too long naman din until we finally move in together. Technically, tomorrow is the day that she moves in with me. The day after the graduation. Wala naman na talaga akong ibang gamit, maliban nalang sa mga ilang damit pang idadagdag ko sa unit namin. Aside from that, lahat ng kailangan ko, nandoon na because I lived there for a few months habang nag iintern.

Lisa: Gising kapa?

Joohyun: tulog na

Lisa:  tapos nagreply -_-

Joohyun: Antok na. >.< what time moko sundo tom?

Lisa:Mga 9. Magkakabit pako ilaw.

Joohyun: Ang agaaa by after lunch nalang tyo alis? :(

Lisa: Di pwede by, huhu dami p gagawin. pero sundo nalang kita afternoon kng ayaw mo

Joohyun: Eh di mag isa ka lang punta dun?

Lisa: Uu eh ayaw mo e. hapon nlng kita sundo.

Joohyun: Nye. Sige na nga. 9. Wake me up.

Lisa: Bahala ka. Iwan kita pag dika nagising.

Joohyun: Wala kang kiss

Lisa: Eh sabi ko nga gigisingin kita. Sus d naman to mabiro.

Joohyun: LOL sige na tulog na ko. Antok na tlg. :(

Lisa: Sige na sleep na. Nite b :*
