Springfield

You took deep breaths as you took slow steps down the stairs. You weren't used to wearing heals but it looked like you would have to deal with that for today. Your dress trailed behind you, making you have to lift it up on one side as you walked. You still weren't sure of any of this. If this was another one of the mayor's parties, that meant that the werewolves would be there. You didn't feel comfortable with them seeing you like this. Your hair loosely curled at the ends, your face dolled up more so than you were ever used to, the clinging of the red, glamorous dress to your body, you felt like a large bird parading around with gaudy red paint on its feathers. You would deal with it for now however since this was the dress that Zico picked with you at the store that morning. To you, it looked prettier on the mannequin. The only thing you were remotely comfortable with wearing was the bracelet Zico had given you yesterday afternoon. It made a small twinkling noise as you took one last breath and turned the corner of the staircase, revealing yourself to the person who was waiting for you below.

B-Bomb checked his phone again for the time. He was twenty minutes late leaving the house because Zico told him to wait for you while he and the others left earlier. He didn't understand why it was taking you so long to finish getting ready. When he was listening outside the bathroom door ten minutes ago, all he heard were sighs and mumbles of dissatisfaction. But really, B-Bomb didn't think you needed much to look presentable. You were pretty enough in just a pair of jeans and a sweater. His patience was running thin at this point so he was grateful to hear your footsteps coming down the stairs.

He looked up as he absentmindedly thought about what time the two of you would make it to the party if you left now. Something red came into his line of sight. He focused on it to find out what it was. That's when his mind went blank. He stared at your figure from your place at the top of the stairs. He couldn't take his eyes off of you as he soaked in every single one of your features.

Your light red lips, your red strapless dress that hugged your figure, your hair that spiraled down in loose curls at the end, all of which were much better than a sweater and jeans. In one word, you were beautiful. But if he said that, he knew you would only widen the distance between the two of you. So, instead, he held out his hand in front of you, palm facing up, "Let's go."

You got out of the car with B-Bomb’s help. He hadn’t said a single thing the entire drive to the mayor’s house. It was as though you had done something to upset him. But what? You couldn’t figure him out at all. If only you could read others as easily as they did you. He lifted the end of your dress as you stepped out of the car. You couldn’t help but think he was being especially nice today. Maybe that’s why he was so quiet. He was being considerate. Either way, you rather hear him say something than be left with all of these unsure thoughts.

The two of you walked up to the mayor’s porch, the mayor’s wife was greeting people there just as she had done at the founding day party. Except this time, she was dressed much more formally. Her hair was up in a fancy braided bun and she wore a blue dress that went down to her knees. You eyed B-Bomb next to you as the two of you ascended the porch steps. Sure, he was wearing a suit, but he still had that kind of thug air about him. The same kind of feeling all of the hunters gave you. He was handsome, sure, but you could tell he wasn’t trying to put on a show. The frown on his face as the woman greeted him first told you he didn’t want to be here. So then why? Why did the hunters have to come to this autumn bash thing? Did the mayor have something they want? Just like with the werewolves?

The mayor’s wife did not look pleased to see him, she looked rather disappointed. Of course she was, she could probably tell as well B-Bomb could care less for appearances. But then, her eyes fell on you. She froze in her place as she stared at you. First, shock crossed her face, then annoyance, and then it was replaced with a smile.

“You’ve matured so much. You’re practically glowing.” She directed towards you with a fake laugh. She then turned towards B-Bomb again, “Is this your influence?” She asked.

“No, but I agree with you.” He looked at you now. He didn’t have a smile on his face but a softer look reflected in his eyes, “She’s stunningly beautiful.” You felt your heart pound as you stared at him in disbelief. He said you were…beautiful? Stunningly beautiful? You didn’t know why but you suddenly were nervous just standing next to him. You down casted your eyes and waited for them to finish talking. You didn’t have the courage to look into B-Bomb’s eyes at this point.

The mayor’s wife was taken back a bit by his answer. “Of course she is.” She said again though she seemed irritated now. She didn’t seem to like how easily you stole the show. It was a formal event, yet the main woman of the night couldn’t help but think you looked better than she did. B-Bomb nodded to her and slipped his hand into yours. You looked up to him with wide eyes as he tugged you along behind him into the house. The mayor’s wife gave a harsh gaze and a bow before watching you two leave.

B-Bomb guided you inside, the two of you hand in hand. Everyone was beautiful, the dresses and the tuxedos, the decorations, the setting of the refreshment tables. Everyone was extravagant and you couldn’t help but feel out of place. B-Bomb didn’t seem to mind at all as he led you to the refreshment on the far side of the large, high ceiling, foyer. Beside the bottom of the cascading stairway on either side of the foyer was a refreshment table. However, B-Bomb was leading you towards the one that lined the left staircase; the one that the hunters had currently gathered around and were engaged in conversation.

As soon as the two of you go close enough, U-kwon turned around. He saw B-Bomb and grinned before going back to his conversation. But then, he froze. He turned back and did a double take, ogling you with his eyes. His jaw almost hit the floor.

Soon, P.O, who he was talking to, noticed that U-Kwon wasn’t paying attention anymore. He looked towards where U-Kwon was distracted and jerked upright in his place.

Jaehyo, Kyung, and Taeil were talking with Zico. That’s when Zico spotted you as he turned towards Taeil. He wasn’t even paying attention to what was being said. The sight mesmerized him. Soon, Jaehyo, Kyung, and Taeil all turned to find you there. Kyung chocked on his own spit and quickly looked away. Taeil stood still in place and Jaehyo started to cough uncontrollably.

“I’m not sure if I should be happy due to their reactions or not.” You told B-Bomb as you lightly one of the curls at the end of your hair with your right hand.

“Getting them to be quiet this long at all is a challenge.” He joked with you.

You couldn’t help but feel a tug of satisfaction on your choice of dress now. You had shut them up just like that and you couldn’t help but relish in the moment.

A/N:

I decided to post another chapter today (though it is also short, I promise the next one will be longer) to make up for the shortness of the last chapter.
