Springfield

You had gotten home a little after nine at night. You were surprised to find that when you opened the door you weren’t greeted with yells or curse words. In fact, the house was silent. Your mom must have still been out. You hadn’t gotten any calls from her either which meant she had no idea you were out. There was no one else in the house. You figured she was working the night shift again. Though you shouldn’t have felt grateful, you did. You’d rather she stayed ignorant about everything that was going on.

You closed the door and locked it behind yourself. You breathed out as the weariness from the day hit you all at once. You bent over and kicked off your shoes. When you readjusted yourself as you straightened back up, you smoothed your hair out of your face. You took a look at yourself in the mirror in the hallway and wondered how in the world you walked around like this.

Your hair was fluffy from being freshly washed this morning. Your complexion was more doll like than usual, most likely because all of the sweat from the day left your face dewy. Your clothes were a bit dirty and your shoes had mud streaks on them. How the werewolves didn’t even mention anything about it was beyond you. If your mom had seen this she’d have thought you did the deed in the forest with some guy you didn’t know. That was another reason you were thankful she wasn’t home. Because it meant no snarky comments from her about your look right now.

Suddenly, someone knocked on the door. Anticipating Hoya, Woohyun, or maybe even Myungsoo, you went to it and opened without a second thought. You blinked a few times at who you saw now. You were shocked but then you remembered what Woohyun had told you. That the hunters made an agreement not to fight as long as the werewolves wouldn’t trespass on their territory. From the reaction Sunggyu gave when Woohyun told the group that, there was no way he was going to go against that agreement.

“Don’t act so excited to see me.” B-Bomb smirked at the face you were making.

You gulped down, getting rid of your previous thoughts, “What are you doing here?” You checked behind him just to make sure that Zico wasn’t standing there.

“Don’t worry, it’s just me.” B-Bomb assured you. You nodded and focused your attention back on him.

“Well, you look as fine as you sounded on the phone.” You gave him a smile.

“I’m tougher than I look.” You didn’t doubt that. “Just came to check on you. You heard what happened today right?”

“Yeah, you hunters are playing nice for a while then?” You joked though it produced no laughter from B-Bomb. Instead, he stared at you with a rather concerned expression. “What is it?” You questioned.

He leaned in as if the conversation was being monitored by someone, “I don’t understand what Zico’s been doing lately. He’s disappearing late at night and showing up in the morning covered in dirt and sweat. Honestly, I think this agreement is only to buy himself some time.”

“Time for what?” You asked.

“That’s what I don’t know about yet.” B-Bomb’s eyes went to the left, breaking eye contact with you. You stared as him in wonder of what was wrong now.

“What is it?” You whispered to him.

B-Bomb stepped back from you and stuck his hands in his pockets, “Since the day’s not over yet, I won’t tell Zico you were here.” He directed towards no one in particular. You raised your eyebrow at his actions.

“It’s appreciated.” A voice came from the darkness behind your front porch. You almost gasped as Woohyun and Myungsoo came to a stop in front of the porch steps. “We’ll pretend we didn’t see you here too.”

B-Bomb nodded at his statement and locked eyes with you once more before walking down the steps past the two werewolves. It wasn’t long before he got into his car and drove away. Your eyes watched his car disappear before you focused back on Woohyun and Myungsoo.

The two of them ascended the stairs and stopped in front of you. Myungsoo was the one who broke the silence, “That’s where you got your information from then?” You nodded. There was no reason to hide it after all. Myungsoo’s expression didn’t change as he brushed past your shoulder to get inside your house. You snarled as he passed by you.

“Eternal Poker Face.” You muttered.

“Sunggyu was going to come originally,” Woohyun spoke which caused you to direct your attention to him, “But he decided to take Sungjong and Sungyeol out hunting instead. It’s been awhile for them.”

A flash of Sunggyu ripping a deer into pieces flashed across your mind. You couldn’t help but get shivers down your back. You shook it off by leaning on the archway of the door for support. “Go ahead and come in.” You told him. He nodded, not taking notice of your actions, and entered. “Coffee?” You asked as you approached the kitchen where the two had taken refuge. A lot of people had shown up unannounced to the point where you were used to it by now. You turned around to them from your position at the counter, “Or is that only Hoya’s thing?” Getting to know seven boys all of a sudden was a bit difficult after all.

“It’s a Sungyeol thing. He recently got Hoya into it though I don't think that will last long.” Woohyun told you. Your mouth formed an ‘o’ as you closed the cabinet you had opened.

“Well what’s a Myungsoo and Woohyun thing?” You asked as you leaned onto the counter.

“Water is fine.” Woohyun managed a laugh as he sat down at the breakfast table. You did as he said and went to the cup cabinet.

“How come Hoya couldn’t come anyway?” You couldn’t help but frown as you said that. Sure, you should’ve been satisfied with two werewolves but for some reason you couldn’t help but feel like you hadn’t talked to Hoya in a long time. “Or Dongwoo?” You pointed with your index finger as you held onto the cup you had just brought out of the cabinet. Dongwoo was also someone you wanted to talk to. He had that sort of goofy, lovable look about him. You couldn’t help but want to talk to both him and Hoya about things that weren’t life-threatening or the like.

Woohyun felt a twinge of jealousy but put it aside and answered you honestly, “Someone’s got to clean up around the house every once and a while. Rock-paper-scissors and they lost.” You thought back to how huge their ‘house’ was and nodded. You were glad you didn’t stick around for that game of Rock-paper-scissors.

You went ahead and poured water into both glasses before giving them to Myungsoo and Woohyun. Woohyun looked appreciative while Myungsoo seemed a bit put off. You were sure that he had tried to lose the game on purpose but ended up winning anyway.

“I almost forgot!” You said out of nowhere. Woohyun looked at you curiously. “When you gave me back my math notes you gave me one of your notebooks.” You gave Myungsoo a fake smile. He narrowed his eyes at you but soon he caught onto your signal. He stood up from his chair.

“I did?” He played dumb, “Where is it?” He began to walk near the stairs and you followed him. You looked back at Woohyun and raised your index finger up to him asking him to wait a minute. He didn’t respond to your action but only watched as you and Myungsoo ascended the stairs together.

Normally, he wouldn’t go to the extent of listening in but he couldn’t help it. As soon as he heard the door of your room close, his curiosity got the better of him. He focused his ears and was able to hear you say, “Seriously, how long are we going to play this game?” That was all it took for him to tell himself this was not something he could ignore.
