Author’s POV…

Hoku’s heart stopped at the familiarity of the voice calling out to her in the room. Her eyes scanned the room as her heart raced before landing on two figures now standing up from the table set up for them. Her hands let go of Jiyong’s to cover as she stared at the two figures. Jiyong smiled at her reaction, reaching over to rub her back.

“How did you?” She asked looking up to him while he smiled.

“Doesn’t matter, go.” He urged gesturing with his head as she smiled; standing on her tippy toes to kiss his brains out before she quickly walked over to her family members.

“Oh my god, I missed you guys so much.” Hoku whispered against her step father’s chest while he hugged her.

“Everyone misses you back home.” He offered before she pulled away and then jumped against her brother’s chest. Jiyong smiled at the interaction, finally being able to witness her being with her family. Obviously she was big on family.

“Come on, let’s all have a seat.” Ben offered as Jiyong nodded walking over to take a seat next to Hoku. Hoku immediately smiled at him and held his hand tightly in her lap.

“I can’t believe you guys are here right now.” Hoku said still in belief as she patted her tear stained cheeks causing her brother to laugh.

“Oh did my little sis miss me that much?” Kona asked proudly while Hoku snorted.

“Still as arrogant as ever I see.” She pointed out while he nodded uncaring.

“Jiyong helped us set this meeting up.” Ben then admitted as Hoku’s eyes shot over to him.

“How?” She asked as he smiled and looked to her family.

“We’ve been here for a week now for work.” Kona admitted as she looked at them outraged.

“And you didn’t care to call?” She snapped as Kona sighed.

“Dad wanted it to be a surprise.” Kona sent the blame over to an oblivious father only causing Jiyong to laugh.
“I met with them for lunch today.” He then interrupted as Hoku sighed in relief.

“Thank god, thought it was something else.” She murmured under her breath before looking to them.

“Wait? How did you guys get in contact with each other anyways?” She asked still confused as Jiyong smiled.

“I called Ben to ask for his permission to date you.” He admitted as Hoku threw her head back laughing.

“Wow, that is the oldest tradition in the book.” She teased as Ben shooed off her comment.

“I think it’s job of a real man to ask her father to date her first.” Ben retorted as Hoku snorted.

“God, that’s just so embarrassing.” She whined as Kona laughed.

“Well at least he stepped forward instead of us never seeing the guy and only hearing about him when you’re crying in your room.” Kona added before Hoku’s eyes shot open in flames.

“YA!” She snapped shooting off her seat, trying to reach for his throat over the table before Jiyong grasped hold of her.

“Calm down, it’s alright.” Jiyong whispered holding her around her waist, before putting her back in her seat.

“So how is everything going on with the fan club? Everything going as planned?” Ben then asked Hoku as she looked up smiling.

“It’s amazing daddy, we’ve got about 60,000 fans on the page since we opened it.” She mentioned as Jiyong’s eyes shot open in equal surprise.

“No offense, but I didn’t know you guys had that many state side fans.” Kona admitted before Jiyong shook his head.

“No offense taken, I didn’t know either.” Jiyong said flabbergasted.

“We’ve been working on the page night and day since we’ve got here.” She added as I nodded in agreement.

“We’ve had live chat feeds with fans and the guys, YG’s also planning a few fan meets for the state side fans after our term is done here.” She then admitted as I nodded excited.

“Your group is all she talked about before she got here. I was a little curious to see what all the hype was about. But when we got here, I’ve seen your group on every billboard and poster possible.” Ben pointed out as Jiyong laughed embarrassed nodding.

“They’re huge here in Japan.” Hoku added as the two nodded.

“We see that.” Kona said from sipping his wine.

“How is it here for the team? Any trouble?” Ben asked over to Hoku who shook her head.

“I follow the guys to their interviews and shows.” She explained as I nodded.

“Only one of our members is good at Japanese, but not enough to translate. We’re still learning so it’s great to have someone like Hoku with us, makes it easier for everyone.” Jiyong admitted as Ben nodded sitting back.

“I’m glad all those Korean and Japanese classes I paid for actually paid off in life.” He mentioned causing the couple to laugh.

“Never thought she would actually need it.” Kona said under his breath causing Jiyong to smirk. They all ordered their various dishes for the night before they got back to chatting.

“How’s mom doing?” Hoku asked hesitantly knowing that she missed her mom more than anything.

“She’s moving along, she misses you more than anyone.” Ben spoke as Hoku sighed looking down to her lap.
“ I miss her too, but I can’t go back till the end of the term.” She whispered as Jiyong watched her expression, heartbroken.

“Well you’ll be back at the ending of next month right?” Kona asked as Hoku nodded, conflicted with her feelings. Wanting to stay here, alongside Jiyong but she missed her family dearly.

“What are you going to do then? Are you going to stay here with Jiyong or are you coming home?” Ben asked slightly interested in what she wanted. Jiyong tightened his grip on her hand, letting her know that he was there to comfort her before she looked up to them.

“I wanna stay here with him, but I’ll have to travel back and forth between here and the states anyway for the fan club business.” She mentioned as the men looked at her hesitantly.

“You think you can handle all the flying?” Kona asked as Hoku looked down to her lap in thought.

“I’m ok with whatever you decide.” Jiyong offered as Hoku sighed looking to Jiyong. This was going to be a never ending conversation.

“Oh, Aunty Val also asked me to tell you to make sure Selena stays out of trouble.” Kona explained as Hoku looked up surprised.

“Aunty Val?” Jiyong asked confused as Hoku looked over.

“Her mom.” Hoku explained as he nodded.

“That girl needs to be tied to a bed and left there.” Hoku admitted as Kona laughed.

“Why? Did she get into trouble already?” Ben asked hesitantly as Hoku shook her head.

“No, but she may not want to go home either.” Hoku mumbled as they caught on.

“What is up with the girls in this family falling head over heels for Korean celebrities?” Kona asked leaning back scratching his head.

“Ya! We like our Asian boys.” Hoku cheered leaning over and wrapping her arms around Jiyong’s neck to kiss his cheek.

“Yah, yah, yah, just stop doing that in front of me.” Kona whined making Hoku laugh at his reaction.

“So what about you and Aubrey? When’s the wedding?” Hoku asked over to Kona whose eyes shot open.

“What?” He asked as Hoku smirked.

“I have ears everywhere, when are you two getting married?” She asked over with Jiyong looking on in confusion.

“It’s Kona’s longtime girlfriend, she’s also a fan of you guys.” Hoku quickly explained before Jiyong nodded.

“We’re not getting married?” He retorted snorting as he looked away.

“Yah, so her texting me, asking for my dress size means absolutely nothing.” Hoku teased before Kona hit his head on the table.

“It was supposed to be a secret.” He whined while Ben chuckled.

“Everyone knows son, no use hiding it.” Ben asked patting his sons shoulder. The night was full of laughs, as they reminisced about the past, letting Jiyong feel more close to the family without them actual being there. He learned a lot about Hoku’s life and family life style that night. He can’t say he was surprised, with the time he’s been with Hoku, he basically knew everything about her. He felt happy though, he felt closer to her than he had ever with any girl. Her father and brother also didn’t mind him, Kona secretly was cheering that his little sister was romantically involved with the largest Korean pop group in the world. But he would never admit it. Ben had never seen Hoku so happy or so high on cloud 9 before, but now that he was able to see it in person, he knew that the fact that he accepted the two of them was a good choice on their end. He loved her, she loved him, nothing seemed to hold them back. Hopefully nothing ever will.
