Hoku’s POV…

Today was the day I was dreading since Jiyong mentioned it to me, we were going up to the pension he had built for his parents to have Christmas dinner with them, it was Christmas Eve. I was beyond nervous that I was finally meeting his parents, but then again, he must have felt the same way meeting mine. At least I knew Dami was going to be there, that thought alone lifted some of the tension off of my chest. I was dressed for the night, sitting on the edge of my bed staring ahead at the wall in thought, waiting for the curlers in my hair to set.

winter style

“You look nice.” A voice interrupted after a small knock. I looked over quickly to see Stephanie standing in my rooms doorway. I stood up smiling before smoothing out the dress I had chosen for the nights activities.

“I’m having dinner with Jiyong’s parents tonight.” I mentioned grabbing a coat off the hanger before slipping my arms through it.

“Nervous?” She asked walking in and taking a seat on my bed.

“That obvious?” I asked before she laughed and nodded.

“And the fact that you only have one earring on.” She pointed out as my eyes shot open while my hands shot to my ears to see the indeed, I only had one earring on.

“Oh my god.” I panicked running into the bathroom before walking out in relief.

“Found it.” I mentioned putting it in before slowly pulling my curlers out.

“How do I look?” I asked once I wrapped my neck with a scarf. It was finally December which meant that it was winter, and beyond cold for us.

“You look gorgeous.” She chirped causing me to smile and nod. Finally the godforsaken knock I had been waiting for all afternoon echoed through the apartment.

“You want me to get it?” Steph asked as I sighed from my seat on the edge of the bed.

“Yes please.” I whispered having no courage to stand and answer the door, still panicking about the night ahead of me.

Oh Steph, evening.” Jiyong’s voice rang through the apartment when Steph answered the door.

“Is Hoku ready to go?” He asked before I heard their footsteps getting closer and closer to my room door.

“Baby?” His voice called out as I looked over from my seat to see him dressed nicely for the night.

“Oh hi.” I said smiling before he walked in, kissing my forehead before sitting down next to me.

“You look beautiful.” He whispered as I smiled and looked back down to my lap.

“Baby, what’s wrong? Are you not feeling well?” He asked concerned putting a hand on my forehead to check causing me to chuckle.

“I’m fine, just nervous I guess.” I whispered embarrassed before he smiled, grabbing my hand into his.

“Why are you nervous? It’s just my parents, they don’t bite.’ He teased causing me to snort and look up to his smiling eyes.

“It’s your parents, what happens if they don’t like me?” I whined looking down to our hands intertwined in my lap. He laughed a bit before leaning over and kissing my temple.

“Baby, they’ll love you. I’m sure they already do or they wouldn’t be bugging me every waking minute of the day to bring you over.” He explained before I sighed looking over to see the reassurance in his eyes, calming down a bit before I nodded.

“So don’t worry about it, I love you so they’ll most definitely love you.” He added while I giggled and nodded accepting the kiss on my cheek before he stood up, offering me and hand.

“Now come on before it gets later.” He whined before I stood up and sighed out all the nervousness.

“Where’s your bag?” He asked as I pointed to the small suitcase sitting at my door. We were actually staying for the weekend at his pension, his family wanted us to stay so how could I say no? I said bye to Steph before we made our way to his car parked downstairs. I climbed in shivering before Jiyong climbed in.

“Baby don’t worry alright, it’ll  all be alright.” He whispered turning my head to face his before I melted into his eyes.

“Ok.” I whispered before he smiled leaning forward, kissing me, we settled into our seats before finally starting the journey to the pension out of town.

“You brought that book along?” He asked halfway through our ride to see me riding one of the study books for the companies publicists. I just sighed and nodded, adjusting my glasses before going back to reading.

“Baby, this is supposed to be a vacation not a study camp.” He whined causing me to smirk and look over to his slightly upset face.

“You want me to move here with you right?” I asked before he nodded.

“Well in order for me to do my job, I need to learn everything about it before I mess up and YG fires me.” I explained going back to the book once I knew he had nothing to say about it. About 10 more minutes into the ride my phone began ringing in my purse.

“God, who could that be now?” I whispered annoyed pulling my phone out to see that it was my brother Kona.

“Who is it?” Jiyong asked not moving his eyes from the road.

“It’s my brother.” I quickly said before answering it on the last ring.

“Hello?” I answered putting my bag back into the backseat.

“Oh Hoku, you busy?” He asked as I looked up.

“No, we’re driving up to Jiyong’s parents place, so what’s up?” I asked looking down to my book.

“Are you coming home next week?” He asked as I sighed looking over to Jiyong.

“I was actually planning on coming up at the ending of January.” I pointed out before hearing the line go quiet.

“Hello?” I asked pulling the phone away from my ear to see if I had lost connection.

“Why are you staying so long?” he asked as I shut the book.

“I’m going to move here.” I answered feeling the tension in the car rise.

“Does mom guys know?” He asked as I looked out my window.

“I already spoke to mom and dad about it.” I informed remembering the intense conversation I had with them.

“Big Bang has a fan meet and Concert at the end of January in Cali for the Fan Club, so I was planning on flying up with them to pack my things.” I explained looking to Jiyong’s serious expression.

“What are you planning to do there for work?” He then asked causing me to look down to the title of the study book I had in my hand.

“I’m studying to be Big Bang’s Publicist for their Japanese and English activities, they previous one got laid off.” I explained before he sighed.

“Now I see why mom’s been mopping around.” He muttered causing me to sigh this time knowing my mom so well.

“I’m sending into a no service area Kona, I’ll call you later.’ I explained trying to come up with some sort of excuse to get him off the phone.

“Alright, call me when you get the chance, there’s something else I need to talk to you about.” He said striking up my interest.

“Alright, I will. Tell everyone I said hi.” I said now smiling to see that we were pulling up on a dirty road. We said our goodbyes now that my interest was on the trees that now surrounded us.

“It’s so pretty.” I immediately said seeing the large smile spread onto his face as we drove down the dirt road.

“What did your brother want? Is everything ok at home?” He asked now sounding a bit bitter causing me to smile over to him.

“He didn’t know I was planning on staying here.” I mentioned looking ahead.

“So he’s upset with you moving here then?” He asked looking away from my stare.

“No, not necessarily, more like upset that I didn’t tell him. He’s just being the protective brother.” I answered before he nodded. We finally pulled out of the woods and to an area where the pension was finally in view, along with the frozen lake area.

“Wow.” I whispered in surprised not really expecting what I was seeing.

“Pretty huh?” He asked as I smiled and nodded. The lights to the pension were on, along with a few cars parked outside.

“My sister is here.” He mentioned as I sighed in relief that at least someone I knew was here. We parked the car along one of the others before Jiyong climbed out. He walked over to my side and opened the door behind holding a hand out for me.

“Come on now.” He teased causing me to laugh before I let him help me out of the car.

“You brought other shoes with you right?” He asked looking down to my uneasy heels before I snorted.

“Of course I did. I’m not dumb Jiyongie.” I whined causing him to laugh and nod. We pulled out our bags from the back of the car before he locked it and put his free arm around my waist to steady me.

“I really wish you wore more comfortable shoes.” He whispered kissing my cheek causing me to blush since his parents were near. We walked up to the front door, kicking the small trails of snow that had gotten stuck to our shoes before he opened the door into the warm house.

“We’re here!” He announced walking in behind me before shutting the door. Amongst shutting the door, we were welcomed by a high pitch squeal and the sound of running. Dami unnie came around the corner dressed in an apron causing me to smile.

“Unnie.” I said in relief before she squealed and ran over to hug me.

“Oh it’s so good to see you again, finally.” She said patting my back causing me to laugh and hug her back.

“It’s so good seeing you again unnie.” I retorted before she pulled away to get a good look at me.

“Omma and Appa will be so happy to finally meet you.” She said grabbing my hand before leading me into the house, still wearing my heels.

“Noona.” Jiyong’s voice whined from behind me as I tried to keep up with me. We made it into the kitchen and living room area where an elder man sat on the couch and an older woman stood behind the stove.

“We have a visitor.” Dami Unnie announced as both of them turned to me before quickly letting a smile spread across their face.

“Ah, finally.” The woman said putting the spoon down before walking over to meet me. I quickly bowed.

“It’s nice to finally meet you Mrs. Kwon.” I said respectfully causing her to snort and push off my comment before pulling me into a hug.

“Just call me Omma Kwon dear.” She said as I smiled into the warm familiar arms of a mother.

“Thank you for having me over…….Omma Kwon.” I said finally causing her to laugh and pull away from me.

“Oh, I see why Jiyongie has taken such a liking to you, you are gorgeous.” She chirped causing me to blush.

“Omma.” Jiyong whined while Omma patted my back.

“It’s nice to meet you sir.” I said quickly over to his obvious father before he smiled opening his arms.

“You’re part of the family already, call me Appa Kwon.” He said causing me to chuckle before I walked over to hug him.

“Alright, alright enough of this, dinner is ready. Jiyongie go take your stuff upstairs.” Omma Kwon instructed before Jiyong nodded walking away down the hall to what seemed like the stairwell.

“Take off your coat dear.” Omma Kwon mentioned as I quickly nodded, ing my coat before pulling it off along with my beanie and scarf.

“That’s a beautiful dress Hoku-ah.” Unnie pointed out taking my coat and things from me causing me to smile.
“Jiyongie bought it from me.” I pointed out still standing there awkwardly.

“Come have a seat Hoku-ssi.” Appa Kwon announced patting the couch next to him before I nodded nervously and walked over, taking a seat next to him. I looked around the large living room before my eyes landed on the beautiful Christmas tree sitting at the window, I just smiled.

“No need to be so stiff, I won’t bite.” Appa teased causing me to laugh and nod.

“How are you adapting to Korea?” He then asked while I looked up to him smiling.

“Korea has been incredible, very easy to adapt to, Jiyong has been helping me so it’s not too hard.” I explained before he nodded.

“That boy best treat you right.” He added causing me to laugh and nod.

“He does Appa.” I added smiling.

“Alright, dinner is ready.” Omma announced as I stood up and turned to the table just as Jiyong walked back into the room. He held a chair out for me so I sit down before he took a seat next to me.

“I really want to thank you for joining us.” Omma suddenly said causing me to smile embarrassed.

“I’m so happy I get to finally meet you both.” I said smiling at the both of them. Finally we began to eat Omma’s home cooked meal, every once in a while I would look over to Jiyong’s face and see the gleam of his eyes while he laughed and chatted away with his family. He really did genuinely love spending time with his family, I liked that about him, family oriented.

“Hoku-ssi.” Omma called out as I looked up from my water.

“Omma call me Hoku please.” I mentioned before she smiled and nodded.

“Hoku, Dami-ah told us about the incident in Japan, where you saved her.” She mentioned as I looked over to Dami unnies smiling face.

“We both want to thank you for doing what you did, it was really brave.” Appa then said as I smiled shaking my head.

“No need to thank me, it was the right thing after all.” I added feeling Jiyong’s hand reach over and hold mine.

“Jiyongie, you treat this girl right, you hear me?” Omma suddenly spoke with authority towards Jiyong who held his head low.

“Hoku-ah is a great person, you should find yourself lucky to find someone like her.” Appa then added causing me to blush.

“Omma. Appa.” He whined causing me to chuckle.

“Appa, Omma, Jiyongie treats me very well. If anything, I should be the lucky one to have someone like him at my side.” I retorted seeing the smile grow across both parents lips.

“So Hoku-ah, do you have any siblings?” Appa asked as I nodded.

“I have 3 brothers.” I announced causing Dami unnie to break out laughing.

“It’s not funny Noona.” Jiyong whined causing me to smile.

“I see why you are so tough.” Omma pointed out while I chuckled and nodded.

“Growing up with 3 brothers will do that to you.” I added before she smiled.

“What about your parents? What do they do?” Appa asked as I turned my attention towards him.

“My Step-Father is the CEO of 0330 Financial in the states, he’s actually the one funding Big Bang’s state activities next month.” I informed as they nodded impressed.

“You said step father dear?” Omma asked as I nodded.

“My real father died of a when I was 10.” I explained as the atmosphere grew thick.

“Oh I’m so sorry dear.” Omma whispered saddened before I smiled and shook my head.

“No need to apologize, it’s alright.” I welcomed feeling Jiyong’s grasp on my hand.  We talked more and more at the table, laughing, while they thanked me for so much that I had done for both Jiyong and the members of Big Bang.

“How are your injuries?” Omma asked now sounding worried causing me to smile.

“I’m fine Omma.” I reassured before she smiled.

“Omo, it’s so late.” Omma then said as I looked to the clock that read 10:00, we had been talking for 2 hours at the table.

“Jiyong take Hoku-ah to find her room and get some rest.” Omma instructed while we stood up. I wanted to help Omma with the dishes before decided to follow Jiyong to find my room so I could change first.

“This is our room.” He said opening one of the more colorful rooms I had ever seen.

“Wait? You said ours?” I asked freezing in the doorway while he smiled and nodded.

“Jiyongie, I’m not staying with you in the same house as your parents.” I whined stepping back out into the hallway while he sighed.

“Fine, then you stay here, I’ll stay across the hall.” He informed walking out before opening the door.

“Wow, are all the rooms here like this?” I asked seeing another splendid room.

“Your room is called the ‘Crayon’ Room, it’s the nicest room in the house.” He informed while I walked in and nodded.

“Well I’m going to change and then go down to help Omma clean up.” I informed pulling my bag onto the bed so I could dig out some clothes.

“Baby, you don’t have to.” He said from the doorway before I grabbed a pair of warm pajamas and turned to him.

“I want to, don’t worry.” I mentioned taking the clothes to the bathroom to change. I changed into some warm pajamas I packed, slipped my glasses on before slipping my feet into my house slippers I brought along. I didn’t even let Jiyong know I was done and just headed down to help.

Jiyong’s POV…

Changing into some sweats and a plain tee, I walked across the hallway to her room to see it totally empty.

“Did she head down already?” I whispered to myself turning towards the stairs as I made it down, low and behold Hoku, Omma and Noona’s laughter filled the air.

“Aish that boy, Hoku-ah you let me know the next time he acts up like that, I’ll set him straight.” Omma’s voice said threatening while a shiver ran up my spine.

“Best not go in there just yet son.” A voice startled me as I looked over to see Appa walking over from the living room.

“How about joining me for a drink in the play room?” He asked holding up two glasses and a bottle. I smiled at my father before following him. The moment we opened the door to the game room, my legs were attacked by an old friend.

“Gaho.” I chirped happy to see him, I knelt down to his height before squishing his face.

“He’s missed you so much.” Appa pointed out as I smiled and hugged him.

“Oh I missed you too.’ I whispered kissing his nose before standing up to shut the door. We walked over to the couch in front of the fireplace before sitting down. Knowing Appa, when we broke out the drinks and the talk excuse, something was totally up.

“So what’s up?” I asked after taking my first sip letting Gaho get comfortable under my arm.

“Jiyong, what are you plans?” He asked as I turned to him confused.

“Plans? For work?” I asked before he shook his head.

“With Hoku-ah, she’s a nice girl.” He said stirring up my curiosity even more.

“Appa, what are you mumbling about?” I whined before he sighed turning to me.

“You love her son?” he asked as I nodded almost immediately.

“How much do you love her?” he asked as I continued to stare at him confused.

“More than my music.” I whispered causing him to smile and nod.

“Omma asked if you were planning on getting married.” He suddenly said making me choke back on my drink.

“Appa.” I whined causing him to chuckle.

“We both think it would do you good to finally settle down and start a family of your own. We get so worried about you when you’re working, especially your Omma, she gets so worried that you’re not taking good care of your health.” He pointed out causing me to look away ashamed.

“But with Hoku-ah in your life, it seems like your more responsible with your health.” He pointed out causing me to smile and nod in agreement.

“She’s been a good change for me.” I whispered in acknowledgement before my father’s arm patted my shoulder comforting.

“She’ll be a great wife for you in the future son.” My father praised causing me to smile and nod in agreement. I loved Hoku with all my heart, I was willing to give her anything in the world at a snap of a finger, my family adored her like I knew.

Hoku’s POV…

“So you are planning to move here then?” Unnie asked after I had mentioned that I was planning on staying. I just sipped the tea offered from Omma before nodding.

“What are you going to do while you’re here dear?” Omma asked from across the table before I smiled.

“I’m studying and learning how to be a publicist, YG wants me to be Big Bang’s publicist for their Japanese and English promotions and activities.” I explained as they nodded impressed.

“Do you also speak Japanese?” Omma asked before I nodded smiling.

“You are a very bright child I can already see.” Omma mentioned causing me to chuckle.

“We’ll be able to see you more often then.” Unnie added while I smiled and nodded.

“I would love to come and visit as much as possible.” I explained honestly.

“That’s good to hear, Jiyong never wants to come visit us.” Omma whined causing me to chuckle.

“Thank you so much for taking care of Jiyongie when he’s away from home, he makes me so worried when I see how he looks on television.” Omma thanked before I shook my head.

“It’s my pleasure Omma, I get equally worried too.” I mentioned before she smiled.

“I’m so grateful that Jiyong met a woman with a strong head on her shoulders.” Omma whispered reaching over and holding my hand. I just smiled at her before looking over to Dami unnie who was also smiling. I was beginning to love his family more than I thought I would.
