I like you, maybe I love you...

Hoku’s POV…

I froze in my seat, feeling something drape around my shoulders before a strong arm pulled me into the embrace. From the scent that attacked my nose, I knew perfectly well who it was. My mind was telling me to fight him off and run but my heart had other plans. Instead of Plan A, my arms reached around his warm waist and pulled myself deeper to him. The tears then fell as I felt that same warm breeze blow past my cheek, my bare shoulders then to my hands that were locked on his back. Was this my father’s way of giving me his message? I sniffled letting the tears fall again onto his white shirt before feeling his chin rest onto my head.

“I’m sorry.” I whispered unsure as to what I was sorry for.

“It’s alright, you’re alright.” He whispered patting my back covered in his sweater.

“Just let it out, I won’t go anywhere.” He whispered as my heart broke again, my tears drowned me in my sorrow that I had been holding in for far too long.

Jiyong’s POV…

I was beyond shocked when instead of her pushing me, her arms wrapped around my waist before she buried her face into my shirt. Yes, this is where I belonged; now I knew. I smiled at her hair sprawled all over my arms and chest before I heard her sniffle. Never in my life, has hearing someone cry ever hurt me this much. I hesitantly wrapped both arms around her bare shoulders before resting the side of my cheek on to her head gently. The person I was now holding in my arms was as fragile as a porcelain doll but as strong as a mountain, that’s what attracted me to her.

“I’m sorry.” I heard her whisper as I felt the grip on my shirt behind grow tighter.

“It’s alright, you’re alright.” I whispered patting her back before leaning my chin on her head again.

“Just let it out, I won’t go anywhere.” I whispered reassuringly as she nodded into my chest before she cried harder. I lost track of how long we were actually sitting on that bench before I felt her move suddenly. I pulled away looking down my chest to see her looking at the soaked spot on my shirt.

“Sorry about your shirt, I’ll buy you another one.” She whispered wiping her cheeks onto her hands. I just smiled and laughed.

“Don’t worry about it.” I said letting her go as she slowly pulled away before facing the keys again. I knew she was hurting from the way she furrowed her eyebrows every now and then, I wanted to help but I knew she needed time.  She looked a bit cold, so I opened my coat around her to cover her bare shoulders before she reached up and held onto the sleeves.

“Why are you here?” She whispered looking down to her feet on the petals.

“I came to find you.” I said honestly as she sighed before looking up to the ceiling.

“I see.” She mumbled almost incoherently.

“Are you alright?” I asked hesitantly as she sniffled and nodded unsure.

“Better.” She admitted forcing a smile on her face as she looked at me. My heart almost broke at the hurt and desperate expression painted behind her smile.

“You don’t have to fake for me, let it out, it’s better.” I mentioned as her smile slowly faded before she looked away.

“You must think I’m such a crybaby.” She said laughing embarrassed and amused. I sighed putting a hand through my now fully faded hair.

“No, I have no right to think that when I don’t know what you are crying about.” I admitted watching her expression for any changes, when I saw none, I continued.

“You can talk to me if you want, I’ll listen to whatever it is.” I mentioned as she sighed looking down to her hands. I watched slowly as she nodded in to my offer before starting.

“My father taught me how to play.” She whispered reaching over to the keys as I watched intently.

“I didn’t even know you could play, let alone sing.’ I admitted still impressed causing her to slightly chuckle before sniffling.

“Well, you’re one of the few.” She whispered as I looked at her confused.

“I am?” I asked as she nodded.

“I stopped playing in front of others after my father passed when I was 10.” She explained as I nodded understanding why she had been crying.

“A lot of people think I’m crazy, but when I play the piano, it almost feels like he’s here with me.” She whispered shutting her eyes as a warm breeze blew through the room.

“You’re not crazy for loving your father.” I pointed out reaching for the piano keys in front of me.

“I’m sure, wherever he’s watching from, he’s extremely proud of everything you’ve done.” I said as she laughed and nodded.

“He did say I would be able to make a lot of people happy one day.” She said laughing through tears as I smiled.

“You’re making a lot of our fans happy thanks to your hard work and dedication.” I added before she sighed.

“I miss him.” She whispered gently rubbing her hands down the keys as I sighed, up my pride and reaching over for her hand.

“I know what I had asked you that day in the stairwell has been bugging you.” I interjected suddenly, watching as her cheeks turned rosy red.

“You don’t need to answer me now, but I wanna tell you something, is that alright?” I asked waiting for an answer. She then looked up to me and nodded hesitantly.

“I like you, a lot. Maybe even love you; I barely know anything about you, your past or future, and for once in my life, nothing like that matters to me. I see the way you hurt, I watch the way you smile when you’re happy and I can’t help but feel that I wanna be closer to you. I’m sorry if all of this makes you feel burdened, but it’s the way I honestly feel about you.” I said seriously looking down to her hands before I felt her arms around my neck, I was like a deer in the headlights after that.

Hoku’s POV…

Inside I was cheering when he confessed to me for the second time, my heart was leaping out of my chest, he was holding my hand, for the love of god, was he trying to kill me? I shut my eyes tightly listening carefully to what he was saying before I felt that same warm wind past my hand in his. As if answering, I automatically leaned forward and pulled him into a hug. I felt him flinch in surprise, stiffening up in hesitation before his hand reached up and held my head.

“Thank you.” I whispered smiling holding him in place.

“For what?” he asked still confused, I just laughed and sniffled.

“Just thank you.” I whispered as he sighed and tucked his head into the crock my neck.

“Tell me why you’re thanking me.” He whined as I laughed and pulled away from him smiling through tears.

“For being here.” I whispered as he smiled reaching a hand up to my cheek.

“Anytime.” He smiled at me before I looked away.

“Oh god, this is so embarrassing.” I laughed patting my cheeks before holding his sweater closer to me.

“It’s like a see a new side you to everyday, it’s very entertaining.” He admitted teasingly as I snorted and looked to him.

“That’s not entertaining, it’s embarrassing.” I whined causing him to smile and rub the top of my head.

“Can you play me a song?” He then asked as I looked at him in shock.

“Why?” I whined as he smiled and gestured with his head to the keys.

“It’s really attractive when a girl can sing and play at the same time.” He mentioned causing me to snort.

“So like the 99% of female celebrities around the world then?” I asked amused as he sighed and shook his head.

“Nope, just you.” He admitted leaning closer, letting his breath blow across my cheeks, welcoming the enormous blush now covering my face.

“Fine.” I muttered embarrassed as I looked to the keys. I cracked my knuckles gently before putting it onto the keys. Sighing once, I nodded and began playing one of my favorite songs on the piano, River Flows into you.

I smiled playing the song for someone, either than myself before I felt his chin on my shoulder. I looked over from the keys quickly to see him smiling and watching my fingers dancing across the keys. I couldn’t help but smile when that rare comfortable feeling zoomed over me. Was I really ready to allow such a person to grow closer to me than just an admirer? Was I ready to open my heart again, unknown if I would be hurt like the others? Was I willing to trust a person I knew absolutely nothing about, except for the facts laid out for fans? My mind was screaming at me to run again, but of course my heart followed its own path. I turned back to the keys dancing under my fingers before smiling. When I was done playing, he lifted his chin from my shoulder and clapped before I sarcastically bowed.

“Since no one knows you play, promise you’ll only ever play for me, alright?” He asked amused as I snorted looking at him.

“No promises.” I whispered smiling down to the keys.

“Will you go on a date with me?” He suddenly as I blushed and smiled brighter down to the keys.

“You don’t have to be my girlfriend yet, to go to dinner with me, do you?” He asked hesitantly as I sighed looking over to him.

“I guess not.” I mentioned as his smile brightened.

“So is that a yes, will you go to dinner with me?” He asked expectantly as I laughed before nodding.

“I would love to.” I admitted as he shot out of the chair cheering before grabbing me into his arms, spinning me around happily.

“Too….tight.” I whined about his grasp before he quickly put me down still laughing. I pulled his coat shut on me, suddenly self-conscious about the way I was dressed in front of him.

“We’ll be able to get to know each other a bit better before you give me your answer, right?” He asked as I laughed up at his aegyo expression.

“Yah, yah, yah.......baby.” I muttered before he cheered again, breaking out doing the Fantastic Baby chorus dance in front of me. He’s such a child, but I could handle that….
