“Today is gonna be our last.”

Jungkook stops sipping on his milkshake and he turned to face the girl in front of him in absurd. Did he hear her wrong just now? Are his ears playing with him? Is he slowly turning deaf? He doesn’t understand. When he kept quiet, Aeri looked at him in the eyes before dropping the bomb.

“Let’s break up,” she finally said.

He was too flabbergasted to say anything as his mind jumbled up, trying to recall anything that he did wrong and found nothing. He has been so nice to her and she never complains about it because she’s the straight-forward type. “B-but why should we? I can’t see the reason why we should…”

“We’ve been really close and you’re really important to me Jungkook but I don’t like you anymore. That one reason is already enough.”

His heart shattered upon hearing the sentences that was coming out of his girlfriend’s, or right now, ex’s lips. His eyes rounded when she suddenly stood up, doesn’t want to end them this way.

“I’ll pay for today as our last time together. Goodbye. It was fun going out with you.”

She left without another glance as he was trying to absorb what happened in the mere 10 minutes ago.

Jungkook shot up out of the blue and his eyes wandered around his surroundings. He is still inside his room and it was just the same nightmare that was haunting him for 6 years straight. He heaved out a heavy sigh and fell back down on his bed. Arm over his closed eyes, he ignored the throbbed feeling inside his chest.

“Why can’t I forget about her?”

“It is our son’s first day as an intern inside Yonsei hospital. I am so proud of you,” Jungkook’s mother smiled dreamily as he shook his head in amused.

He sipped onto his chicken soup while barely listening to his mother’s blabber. He knows how his mother would just talk non-stop when she is happy about something and he is not that annoyed since she inserted some compliments regarding him. He needs those to re-energize.

“I remember how you were such a useless senior to study in high school and I completely have no hope left in you but then you rushed through your SAT and I still can’t believe you attended Yonsei with a scholarship. This is why you are my son. You have my intelligent brain.”

He just arched an eyebrow while continue biting onto the meat. After he is done with breakfast, he brought his bowl with him to the sink and washed it.

“I’ll go now, mom,” he informed before putting on his shoes.

“Good luck son. Do your best. Hwaiting!”

He nodded as a reply.

Jungkook heaved in a deep breath before slowly releasing it. “First day, must make a good impression. Coming early is one of it.”

His eyes wandered on the huge white building in awe, can’t really take in the fact that he is going to be an intern in one of the top famous hospitals in the country. Taking a step forward, he bumped to someone accidently as he took an accidental sniff on the lady’s hair.

She smells nice. Lavender.

“Oh I’m so sorry-” “My bad I didn’t-”

Both of their eyes rounded in bewilderment and Jungkook’s jaw slackened upon meeting eyes with Aeri’s brown ones. They were both too surprised to say anything and they snapped out of it when someone called for Aeri.

“Anne, sorry I’m late.”

Jungkook’s eyes narrowed at the tall fella and he cursed inwardly when the guy is a few cms taller than him. He was directing those English words to Aeri. Why would he be sorry for being late? The new guy noticed Jungkook’s stare on him and he flashed a smile before bowing his head.

“Hello there. I’m Jung Jaehyun and this is Han Aeri. We’re both new interns that are starting today. Who might you be?” he asked with a tilt of his head.

“Jeon Jungkook. A new intern as well,” he answered, eyes on Aeri who was avoiding it.

“Oh that’s nice! We can go in together. Let’s go.”

Jungkook doesn’t really have a say since the Jaehyun guy was dragging him and Aeri by the arms, forcefully I might add.
