Mingi knew. She knew that she should forget about him since he doesn’t belong to her in the beginning anyways. The growing affection didn’t make it easier for her too so she would just pray that neither people of the couple got a hint about her feelings for the guy.

Other times, she actually cried herself to sleep, not really helping the situation she’s in. She felt frightened. She doesn’t want to lose a friend, of course. It’s the first time someone gladly wanted to be her friend. Since she’s the diligent bookworm inside the class, neither her classmates thought that she’s important enough to spare her their time.

“Aeyoung is a good friend. You can’t betray her with the feelings you harbored for her boyfriend, Mingi…” She pulled the blanket higher up her face and decided to finally close her eyes.

“Are you all right?”

Mingi turned to look at her side and met eyes with Hyungwon worried ones, descending her novel from burying it over her face to pay all her attention to him. “I’m fine. Why did you ask?”

“Dunno. You don’t look fine to me.” He shrugged nonchalantly, silently eyeing the dark skin right under her eyes.

“I’m really fine though.” She replied again and her eyes were attracted to her novel, yet again, a sign so that he’ll stop with the question.

He did stop and his eyes scanned over the title of the book before a question was thrown to her for the second time. “Do you have someone that you like?”

Jumping in shock at his sudden pop-quiz, her eyes immediately searched his frighteningly. “W-Why would y-you think-”

“The book’s title. Mind telling me how the story goes?” He nodded at her book.

Her eyes read over the bold shiny letters at the front page, ‘My Unrequited Love’, before turning them back to him who was patiently waiting for her.

“I-It’s about a girl… And she likes her s-senior but he already had a g-girlfriend…”

“Ouch. That’s harsh.” He actually sounded genuinely concerned and not mocking like some other guys would.

“Yes. It’s pretty… sad.”

“Then?” His voice snapped her thoughts and she focused on him with knitted eyebrows. “Did she get him? Are they together I meant.”

“Oh. No, they’re not.”

“They’re not?”

“She found someone else. She forgot about him. Figures since first love rarely succeed.” She mumbled with a soft smile on her lips, thinking maybe she should do the same.

The incoming voice made her disappointed a little and she mentally slap herself, trying not to think that way with her friend. She should be thankful she even had the time to be alone with him.

“Gosh. Girls are always crowding inside the toilet and I’m here desperately wanted to go. I don’t even know why they wanted to wear make-up desperately. Are they that scared the world will see their bare-face?” Aeyoung plopped down on the seat beside Mingi, nibbling over her crackers with a sigh. “I feel like I’m getting more weight.”

“Yeah. You are.” Hyungwon snorted and Aeyoung scowled, throwing a biscuit at him but he managed to catch it. “I hate you. Seriously.”

“I know hun. You don’t need to say it.” He chuckled.

And Mingi was awkwardly sitting in between the couple, Hyungwon on her right meanwhile Aeyoung was on her left, bickering with each other. Hyungwon’s friends rarely come to school and that makes thing worse by leaving her being the third-wheel alone.

Mingi blinked at the silver colored hair guy as he waved at her slightly. “Hey. The name’s Moon Taeil, those two friends. Nice to meet ya.”

“H-Hello.” She bowed a little but her eyes were stuck on his different colored hair.

He noticed her stare and he bent down a little for her to see. “If you’re curious about it, it’s natural. Do you want to touch it?”

She flushed embarrassingly when he held onto her wrist and pulled her hand over his hair. Feeling the softness on her fingertips, she was in awe and he can’t help but to laugh.

“It’s very fascinating huh?”

“Yes, it is.”

“What are you doing?” Hyungwon eyed Mingi’s hand which was on Taeil’s head with an eyebrow raised.

“Bonding.” Taeil answered, snorting at Hyungwon’s eyebrow since it twitched a little. “Har har. Very funny.”

“Oh yes it is. It’s very funny.” Taeil replied smugly upon hearing the sarcasm in Hyungwon’s voice.

Mingi looked back and forth between the guys and she decided to intervene before anything messy could happen. “Thanks for the meal. I’m getting hungry.” Taking the tray from Hyungwon’s hand, she gave out their food.

Aeyoung then came with their drinks a few seconds later and they ate their lunch before hitting the bookstore. She said that she almost run out of books to read so she wanted to buy some more. It’s been a month since their last hang out so of course Mingi’s father didn’t mind.

“Mingi. I want to confess something.” Aeyoung suddenly spoke up while they were searching for the specific books that they wanted.

Hyungwon and Taeil went to the other aisle, specifically the ‘Comic’ part. Half of it was because Aeyoung practically shoved the two away so she could have a small talk with Mingi.

“What… is it…?” The way her best friend’s face stiffened made Mingi panicked.

Don’t tell me… She actually knew? Mingi flustered at the mere thought since she doesn’t want to hurt her. Or even anyone in this case.

“The truth is…”

Mingi blinked at the incoming figure of a guy and she thought she was mistaken but she saw a glimpse of something silver-colored inside the guy’s hand. Before she could hear her best friend’s explanation, Mingi had yanked Aeyoung behind her and the next thing she knew, something sharp was pierced at her abdomen.

“A-Ahh…” She whimpered in pain when the guy pulled out the knife from her flesh.

“M-Min… K-Kwon Mingi!!!”

And the next thing Mingi knew, her vision went black with Aeyoung’s continuous scream beside her.
