Kai let out a yawn, doesn’t even bother to stifle it since he’s beyond tired as ever. He’s just resting on top of a commercial film board at the rooftop of a hotel building without really caring about the cold night air. The technology inside his coat’s pocket vibrated, meaning that he got himself a call from the HQ. Fleeting his eyes to his pocket which moved a little thanks to the vibration, he rolled his eyes and pulled out the thing fast.

He tossed the mp4-player-like technology on air as it froze before a hologram of a girl appeared above it. His eyes widened upon seeing the familiar female and he immediately cursed out of shock.

“Kai. You have two weeks’ time before you take the soul away from its body,” the device said monotonously. “Immediate action will be taken if you did not follow the rules clearly. Write a report at the HQ after you have done your task.”

Quickly snatching the device from the air, Kai jumped down the board before making his way towards the girl. He hopped over the air as invisible tiles appeared under his feet, balancing him while he’s on mid-air. He pushed on his brake fast when he finally arrived at her apartment.

He stared at her from the balcony as she was happily flipping over the beautiful wedding card. Her wedding card. She’s someone else’s lady right now. She belongs with someone else but she’s going to die in less than a month now. How painful it is for her fiancé?

No. Kai didn’t care. He won’t feel sorry to the guy but she’s going to be sorry for her. He can’t make himself to take away his once best friend slash crush’s life away. He knew it. He can’t bear to pull away her happiness. It will make him a bad person.

“The card turned out well,” Yoobi hummed in happiness. “Maybe I should send the picture to Jinyoung-sshi.”

She snapped a picture of the card and messaged her fiancé about it.

It looks really nice. ^^ If you want to give them over to your friends, let’s go together. I can get to know your friends and you’ll get to know mine. :)

That would be nice. When will you be free?

She stared at his text a little longer to understand the meaning of it. Just before she could answer a funny reply, another message popped in.

I’m sorry. It’s so corny that even Mark hyung is laughing.

It is indeed funny. That’s a nice timing you got there.

Okay. Let’s be serious now. I’m free this weekend. We can, maybe, go on a date after that?

She chuckled at the emoticon and stood up, wanting to drink some water. Just as she wanted to take a step, she felt her legs grew numb and she can’t help but to dumbly stared at it.

“What’s… wrong?”

Yoobi moved her leg and was surprised to see it’s moving, the numbness was gone now. Kai eyes’ narrowed upon seeing that happen right in front of his eyes.

“Maybe I’m too tired…” she murmured and waved it away.

The next day, there are times where she felt nauseous and she threw up many times because of it. Morning sickness? Highly unlikely cause she doesn’t feel the crave for anything. She thought that maybe, she ate the wrong thing but something uneasy was beginning to pile up at the pit of her stomach.

Kai was there the whole time. He can’t do anything other than looking at her in that miserable state. He wanted to do something to pull away the pain but he can’t. He doesn’t have the power to.

It was finally time for Yoobi to give out the card to her and Jinyoung’s relatives. She was thrilled to say the least. It’s been a while since they spend some time together because of his job. For Kai, he’ll be alright if she’s happy even if he has to see her with someone else.

Yoobi went to answer the door after the bell and she smiled upon seeing Jinyoung. He smiled back and they went around town using his car, chat
