Jungkook caught the ball that was thrown to him before pitching it back towards his friend, V. At the corner of his eyes, he saw an unfamiliar girl and she was making her way towards the field. His eyes were turned towards her completely since she looks strikingly similar like someone from his childhood days.

The girl who had a shoulder-length black hair was making her way towards Teacher Kim, their coach. They talked for a while and he immediately shield his face with the brown leather glove.

“Damn, Taehyung. I’m not ready!” Jungkook yelped but he was beyond thankful since he managed to catch the ball before it crashed his handsome face.

“Ohhh! Your reflex is very good Jungkook-ie.” V put thumbs up with a grin and Jungkook snorted at the changing subject. “Yeah, yeah. Whatever.”

“Hi. Nice to know you guys. My name is Lee Haemi, a second year and starting today, I’ll be your manager.” The girl bowed in front of the school baseball team’s players with a small smile decorating her thin lips.

“She’s so pretty. Don’t you think so?” V nudged Jungkook’s side as his eyes were stuck on the new girl.

“Hae… mi…?” The name rings a bell for a few seconds before he realized who the girl really is. “Lee Haemi?”

“I’m sure your ears are perfectly fine so yeah, her name is Lee Haemi.” V retorted but Jungkook was too absorbed in his conscious to make a comeback.

“If you grew this tall and you can make a strike right in front of my eyes, I’ll consider your feelings Kookie.” A little girl with long jet black hair giggled before patting the little boy’s head in front of her.

“You promise me?” He bit his bottom lip with knitted brows. “Even if I’m younger than you, you’ll see me as a man.”

“Of course, I promise.” She let out a soft smile making the boy’s heart to flutter.

Jungkook gazed at the said girl silently his mind was full of his thought. Then one day, the girl left without a goodbye. The boy thought that his chance was gone- No. He thought that it was never there to begin with.

Haemi looked over the players, trying to remember each of their faces and her eyes halted at Jungkook. Letting out a soft smile, she turned to talk with the coach again and he felt it. He felt the thump again. Even if it’s just for a second, he could still feel it and it was only because of her smile.

But it seems like fate wants him to finish what he started…

Jungkook was sure he’s creping the hell out of Haemi since he kept staring her way whenever she’s in his sight but he couldn’t help it. His one and only first love came back and he doesn’t have the courage to start a conversation so the only thing he could do was shamelessly gazing her way.

He really wants to talk to her but it’ll be damn awkward to suddenly declare that he’s her childhood best friend and he wants her to recall back their promise so, no. Of course he’s long taller than her, almost a foot taller at that, but she never saw him doing a strike.

He squinted in jealousy when one of his senior was making his way towards Haemi with a shirt in his hand. He hated- despised it when one of his team members were trying to talk to her, although they don’t really have a choice since she is their manager.

“Hey Haemi. Can you wash my shirt for me? Jinyoung, he- Never mind. Just… please wash it.” JB showed her his baseball team tee and she accepted it with a chuckle. “Of course, Jaebum sunbae.”

“Come on. It’s been almost half a year since you came. Cut the formality. Oppa will be fine.” He flashed a crooked grin, making her to fluster at the word ‘Oppa’.

“O-Oppa…?” She squeaked with her face turning to a deeper kind of red making Jungkook’s eyebrow to twitch.

“Yes, that’s right. You’re so cute. Do you want to be my girlfriend?” Oh how badly Jungkook wanted to shove the tee right into his senior’s throat.

“W-W-What?!” Haemi can’t help but to let out a loud yelp as the other players turned their eyes towards the two.
