“Yeah. I’ve packed my things. I’ll take tomorrow’s morning flight.”

Joshua zipped his bag close fully before turning towards his nightstand, where his wallet was placed. Reaching over the dark brown leather, he opened up to see a picture neatly placed in the see-through pocket.

“Why are you worried? I’m mom’s son. Joshua Hong will be fine.” He chuckled at his mother’s nervous tone while staring at the girl beside him in the photo. “I’ll see you in less than 10 hours mom. Yeah. I love you too.”

He waited for his mom to end the call before diverting his eyes out the window to look at the night starry sky. “Goodbye US. Goodbye Vernon. Hello bright future. Hello new memories.”

Slowly closing his eyes, he felt the air of America one last time and treasured the precious moments he had here inside his heart.

“Ohho. K-pop songs these days are pretty good.” Joshua hummed to the tune from the song that his little sister gave him so he won’t be that left out in K-music nowadays.

He flit his eyes to the front while bobbing his head to the rhythm of the song but stop at once when his eyes landed on a familiar petite girl. He almost drop his iPhone 6S if not for the firm grip he had on the pricey technology. His heart beat races in an unbelievable rate making him weird out to the feelings he once had 4 years ago. Is it really ‘had’ though?

The long straight black hair she once had had turned to a short dark brown color. Her height grew a little between those years and her beauty outshines everyone in his eyes. He wouldn’t go to her. No. He can’t go near her. Seeing her made his heart squeezed in happiness and also in miserable.

Flashback of her in someone else’s arms was replayed inside his mind and it was too painful for him to bear. He was about to turn away and left when he heard her soft voice calling out to him.

“Ji… Soo?”

Eunbyeol met eyes with Joshua and he saw how her face lit up in content almost immediately. He grew anxious when she was making her way to him and before he could escape, a pair of arms was wrapped around him. Surprisingly, he felt warm spread inside him and the uneasy feeling from before disappear.

“You’re really here, right?”

Something wet hit his shoulders and he realized that the girl in front of him was crying. Bringing his hands over her back, he softly patted them to give her comfort.

“Yeah. I’m here… Han Eunbyeol…”

“I can’t believe I just bawl my eyes out in front of you…” Eunbyeol looked over her phone to wipe any tears left and she blew her bangs in despair. “Must be because I’m missing you so much.”

Joshua’s heart skipped a beat and he blinked his eyes at her boldness. She never liked talking about how she felt ever since they were kids so he was a little taken aback by it.

Handing her a can of grape juice, she took it with a soft smile. “Thanks. You remember I liked grape.”

He looked at her with an eyebrow raised. “Liked?”

“Uhuh. Let’s be considerate and change, okay? Give me your juice.” She nodded once and replaced his orange juice with her grape one.

Eunbyeol drank the juice with her eyes on the grassy ground and he raised an eyebrow at her weird behavior. “If I recall back, you’re never silent when you’re with me.”

She let out a low chuckle at that. “Guess time change things.” He noticed how her eyes grew dim, not a spark left after that. “And so is relationship…”

He snapped out of his thought after he gets what she meant. “I thought you’re dating the Seokmin kid?”

A low sigh escaped Eunbyeol’s lips and she answered after taking a sip. “He… broke up with me…”

He was beyond shock to hear that since the last time he saw them, they were blissful. She was happy with him and he was happy with her.
