Super Shining World Chapter 6

Super Shining World

The next days –nice and warm September-days- passed. At Wednesday I wrote my name on the list for the school tennis team. Tennis was the absolute best sport in the world! I already missed playing with a good friend from school.

The classes were more or less had to do. I depended on the subject, of course. Sometimes I saw Taemin sitting in the same class but not every time. Hwa Young and Mi Hi had class with me, too. I was happy to have them around but nearly everyone I got introduced to was really nice to me though everyone talked about my hair. Slowly it got on my nerves.

So finally it was Thursday. I passed the morning with sitting in class and listening to the teacher. In the afternoon I had class, too. PE. I went quick to my room in the boarding- school to get my clothes, then hurried to the gym. Students were already standing there. I joined a little group of girls which had been introduced to me by Hwa Young. They welcomed me friendly. Mr Jung arrived –yes my maths teacher was my PE teacher, too- and opened the door. We changed clothes. Luckily we could choose our clothes by our own. So I wore a white shirt, grey trousers and a pair of sport shoes. I tied my hair together to a ponytail and walked into the gym with the other girls. Most of the boys were already there and waiting for the topic we would have. When everyone had arrived Mr Jung welcomed us, introduced himself –there were some students in this class who didn’t join the maths class- and talked about some safety instructions.

“Can’t you just tell us what the topic is?” a boy said. Mr Jung sighed.

“Well, Kyung-soon, I have to do this. Don’t think that I like to do it.” Little laughs sounded through the great hall.

“Okay, I’ll tell you what we wanna do today, and the next few times.” On his face was an evil grin and I really thought that we were going to do something very strenuous.

“Well, you little students…” he let us wait a long time. “We’ll dance a bit.” A loud sigh appeared. The boys were not amused, well except one. I didn’t noticed Taemin at first. He was smiling and seemed to be amused by the other guys.

“Okay, let’s start!” Mr Jung said loudly and we had to form four lines for a little warm up. The young man was standing in front of us and showing some practices. Well, it didn’t really make fun but it wasn't that bad so I tired to do everything Mr Jung showed us. After the warm up he divided us into two groups. Ten girls and ten boys –there were only 20 students in this class. He gave Taemin the job to teach the boys a part of the ‘Hello’ dance while he would teach us girls a little part of T-ara’s ‘Yayaya’. I was really happy about that because I always wanted to learn a K-Pop dance but never got the time to do it. But the worse thing was, that we would have to present it to the boys when we would be finished.

Mr Jung taught us about a minute of the dance and Taemin did so at the other side of the hall. It wasn’t that complicated to learn the steps but I wasn’t happy that I stood in the first row.

Finally it was time to present the dances. The boys were first. They did pretty well. Okay, compared to Taemin they were really bad and didn’t even did all of the moves but it was still good –for guys. Then it was our turn and I definitely didn’t wanted to dance a wrong move. Mr Jung said that this dance would be part of you mark and so I concentrated and did my best. It wasn’t hard to think of all the moves and I really enjoyed dancing. In my opinion the time we danced was way to short. It felt like just a few seconds! The music stopped and I was content with my work. I noticed Taemin looking at me with a surprised face. What was he thinking of?

Next we got a little break to drink something. Before I could went to the dressing-room Mr Jung wanted to talk to me.

“I definitely have to say that your performance was really good. Did you something like that before?”

“Well when I was younger I used to do ballet.´Thank you ”, I answered. He nodded and went away without saying anything else. I went on and entered the room, drunk something and made my way back to the great hall. I entered the right moment to listen to what the teacher was saying.

“This was just a little challenge, to show me what you already can. I don’t think that this modern dances are a problem, so I decided to teach some Rock’n’Roll. Of course we will do some modern dances, too.” I was a bit sad. I had hoped that we would do only modern things.

“For the Rock’n’Roll dance we need pairs of two…” He couldn’t finish the sentence because of voices talking loudly.

“Hey!” Mr Jung shouted and everyone was quiet.

“A girl and a boy will form a pair, and I already formed some pair that you’ll keep.” A sigh went through the room. This was as usual. In Germany there were no differences. I had to smile.

“So here are the pairs”, he started reading out names and girls and boys got together. I listened closely till my name was said. It sounded really funny!

“Ute, you’ll dance together with Taemin. I think you can keep up with him.” What? What did he just said? Okay, I would dance together with Taemin. It would be good to dance with a guy who enjoyed dancing but I didn’t think that I could keep up with him. Definitely not!

Taemin came to me and smiled.

“Hey, daesang!” He really avoided saying my name. It made me laugh.

“Hey, oppa”, I answered and tried not to laugh that much.

“What’s so funny?” he asked seriously. I had to smile again.

“Everyone is trying to avoid saying my name.” I tried to say it generally but I thought that he know that I thought about him. He laughed.

“Well, don’t mind. I have no idea how to pronounce it. And I think it’s better that way than saying it wrong.”

“Ute” I just said and he weirdly looked at me.

“Sorry?” I laughed and said it again slowlier.

“Oh, sorry”, he apologized and laughed, then tried to say it but it sounded still very funny. I said it about three times more till he said it in a way that wasn’t so funny anymore.

Mr Jung explained a few things before we started dancing. Where to put your hands and how you could avoid stepping on your partner’s toes. Then we started dancing. It made a lot of fun though it was weird dancing with Taemin. Of course he was really good at dancing and learned really fast the moves but somehow it really wasn’t that hard to keep up with him. Sometimes I noticed jealous looks from the other girls –more or less evil ones.

The last time of the class went by really fast and somehow I was a bit sad that the lesson was over. We said good-bye to Mr Jung and went into the dressing-room. Before reaching it someone called me.

“Ute-daesang!” It was Taemin. He said my name. “I’m glad to catch you. Just wanted to say that you are a really good dancer!” I didn’t know what to say.

“Oh, thanks. Well…” I said and smiled at him.

“Just, wanted to tell” he seemed a bit embarrassed but smiled to. “Have to go. Ehm.. The guys are waiting for me.” He smiled again and turned around. I turned around, too.

“Bye!” I heard from the corridor. I saw Taemin who entered the boy’s dressing-room.

“Bye” I said and hoped that he had heard it while think of who he had meant by saying ‘the guys’.
