Hye-min’s POV

I walked towards the fountain by the lobby making sure that L oppa and Hoya oppa followed behind. I paced myself thinking about how to start.

“Hye-min ah.” Hoya oppa said.

“If you have something to say…just say it.” L oppa added.

“I…I think we should settle everything…now.” I started.

“I knew this day would come…I just wasn’t expecting it to happen like this.” L oppa said.

“Neither was I… I don’t want to hurt either of you but if I don’t choose, all three of us will suffer… and that’s why I chose you, oppa, to be my prom date.” I said to L oppa.

The two of them looked at me confused.

“It wasn’t supposed to happen like this…”

“I’m sorry Hye-min ah, I’m sorry if I ever pressured you.” L oppa said taking my hands, which only made me feel guiltier.

“Oppa, I chose you to be my date because I wanted to thank you. I wanted to spend this night with you to thank you.  You’ve only ever cared for me and I know that. You’ve given me memories that will last a lifetime but I’m sorry…I can’t accept your heart.” I sighed, watching the smile leave his flawless face.

“I’m sorry oppa. I’m sorry I have to hurt you like this. You mean a lot to me and that will never change.” I said as tears silently left my eyes.

He pulled me in gently and wrapped his arms around my body. As I returned the hug, I felt him kiss the top of my head.

“Hye-min ah, thank you for giving me the chance to love you. Being able to love you is enough. You will forever be my first love and although I’m hurt now, I’m happy for you and Hoya hyung. I knew you two were meant to be but I just thought that I might…that I might have a chance with you. And if he ever hurts you, I promise I will not let him get away with it.” He whispered.

“Thank you oppa.” I whispered back.

“If you hurt her, I will take her away from you. I promise.” He warned before giving Hoya oppa my hand and walking back to the dining hall.

I watched as he slowly disappeared in the distance.

“I hope you find someone that will take good care of you.” I thought.

“So…” Hoya oppa broke the awkward silence.

“So…” I said.

“What now?” He asked.

“Let’s go back to my prom before I miss anymore of it.” I suggested.

As we entered, a slow song was just beginning.

“May I have this dance?” Hoya oppa asked.

“Of course.” I wrapped my arms around his neck and smiled when I gazed into his eyes.

“What are you smiling about?”

“Nothing.”

“You know, you look beautiful today.”

“Just today?”

“Everyday.” He whispered into my ears.
