Athena’s POV

I sighed upon looking at the place. Everyone is busy chatting with one another. Socialites will

always be socialites. They have nothing to do but to attend parties simply because it’s a

perfect occasion to exhibit their wealth. Women usually embellish themselves with those

signature dresses and diamonds hoping to impress men. Men usually see these events as a

perfect way to widen their connections. Rich people....always craving for power and

prosperity.....I was invited to attend this grandeur birthday party of the KBS chairman. Now

that I’m done giving my gift and greetings, I find no reason to stay. I better leave this hall

because everything here makes me feel suffocated.

            “Athena sshi!”

A man and a woman called me. I remember I once talked to these celebrities before on

events like this though, I don’t really remember their names.

            “Oh...hi!” I tried to smile.

            “Looks like you’re alone...You don’t have a date?” The woman asked.

            “None..”

            “How could men ignore such beauty to come without an ?” The man gave me

a glass of champagne.

            “Hm..” I just smile.

They started talking about things which I’m not really interested with. I tried to be civil so

they won’t notice my boredom. After a while, two men and a woman joined the group. This is

my chance so I excused myself saying I’ll greet the chairman.

            “Look at those hips...enough to make me wild..”

            “No wonder she get to hook up with any guys she wants..”

            “I heard that she’s good...”

I held my head up high as I pass along them. I didn’t bother to look at those filthy minded

men. Though I really feel uncomfortable with what they are saying about me, I know that I

shouldn’t let them know how it affects me. It will only give them the satisfaction. As long as

they won’t lay their hands on me then I could still tolerate it.

            “Ae Young!” It’s been a long time since I heard somebody call me by my real name. I

know exactly who is it. I turned around and see Madame Jang--my stepmother. She’s there

with Hye Ri and Hye Jin. They look so festive with their dresses.

            “Were you careful?” She kept it low but clearly indicates her means.

            “Don’t you worry...I didn’t get to talk much with anyone...” I said in a cold tone.

            “How dare you show up on the same event?!What if people finds out your

connection to us?!”Hye Ri said.

            “Have you heard how people talk about her mommy? So disgraceful!” said Hye Jin.

            “You better be careful Ae Young. You know your responsibility to the family. You

must not drag our name to your shameful scandals.”

I clench my fist.

            “You don’t have to remind me. I also don’t want to be associated with you.” I said as I walk pass them.

            “Look at this impertinent girl!” She hissed.

Then I saw him. Our eyes met for a moment but I didn’t even say a word neither did he. I

headed to the lobby without looking back.

            “Look at how that uneducated daughter of yours behaved!”

Of all the places, why do I have to bump into them? Yeah right...I forgot, this is an event for

wealthy people. Naturally they will be here...As if I want to see them...What responsibility

are they  talking about? We are just related in formality but we had never been a family. I’m

impertinent? Do they deserve courtesy? Uneducated? I have a college degree..something I

really worked hard for unlike her daughters. They better know the meaning of what they are

saying.

I reached my van.

            “Are you going home already? You’ve been there for just fifteen minutes!” My

manager said.

            “Let’s go to Incheon.” I commanded.

            “How is she doing?” I asked the nurse as she leads me to a room on the farthest corner of the corridor.

            “No changes with her vitals.” She opened the door and I entered.

            “I’ll be staying for the night.” I said.

Surprised is in her face. She looks at the thin silk dress that I’m wearing.

            “I’ll bring you a blanket.”

            “Thank you.”

After she brought the blanket, the nurse left. I sat on the chair and looks at her sleeping

figure.

            “Omma....it’s me, Ae Young.” I held her right hand with my two hands.

            “Seems like the weather is good in here........It has been very busy at work

nowadays...I have a lot of tapings and pictorials to do...I wish I could spend more time

here with you...that would be nice...”

Her face is bright as if she’s having a good sleep. Her hand is slightly warm indicating that

she’s still here. She hasn’t left me yet.

            “I bumped into them today.” I decided to tell her the truth.

            “They haven’t changed a bit. Still think they are mighty and all...don’t worry, I think

Iannoyed them more than they annoyed me.” I filled my voice with spirit.

            “That person.....” I whispered as a figure flashed my mind.

            “Aigoo!My little Ae Young!”The man held the little girl in his arms.

            “Appa! When are you going back?” She asks.

            “I’ll be back soon. Don’t worry, I’ll send you chocolates.”

            “Really?”

            “Yes. There are a lot of chocolates in Seoul. Also, I’ll buy you a doll when I come back.”

            “I’ll wait for you appa..”

            “Be a good girl okay?”

            “Hm!” she nodded.

            He hugged her tight before he turns around. The little girl in now in her mother’s

arms waving and smiling to her father. He smiles back at them.

            “Omma, isn’t that appa?” The young lady looks at the man in a black suit. He’s with

a sophisticated woman and two girls that look younger than her.

            “That’s not your father...”Her mother tried to avoid looking at them.

            “I’m sure that’s appa....Appa! Appa!” She calls him loudly.

They stopped and look at them. The man and woman looked shocked.

            “Daddy, who are they?”

            “Appa! It’s me, your Ae Young....I’m here with omma...” She smiles.

            “Daddy why is she calling you appa?”

            “Nothing. I don’t know them. Let’s go”

The young lady felt something hit her heart. She’s very much sure that he’s her father.

            “Appa! It’s us!” She tried to run after them.

The man looks at the people looking at them.

            “I don’t know you.” He said in a cold tone before riding the luxurious car.

Her mother comes to her.

            “Stop it, Ae Young ah....He has a new family now...” She cries.

            “Anniyo omma...that’s right...it was a mistake. That’s not appa...he’s not going to say that...”

Her mother held her tight as they both cried.

I opened my eyes. It was just a dream...a dream that I don’t want to have...My vision

became blurry. My head is resting at the side of my mother’s bed; I’m still holding her hand.

            “How could that person do this to us omma...”The tears that I tried to hide from

everyone fall freely from my eyes.

Jaejoong’s POV

I’m at the set of Protect the Boss when the “Boy’s Letter MV” debut. Everyone watched it

during break. The cast like the concept and the song of course.

            “Jaejoong ah...you wrote the song right?”Ji Sung hyung asked.

            “Ah...yeh...”

            “You’re very talented...The song is very heartfelt...could it be, you wrote it for a

girl?” Choi Kang Hee noona teased me.

            “Anniyo...I wrote it for Cassiopeia our fans club...” I said.

            “The fans are very lucky that you have them in mind...” Wang Ji Hye said.

            “Especially the future girlfriend...”Ji Sung hyung added. I smile shyly.

            “Omo! Her boyfriend is on a coma?! That’s sad..”JiHye reacted on the last scenes on

the MV.

            “Athena is a good actress. What does she looks like in person Jaejoong ah?”Ji Sung

hyung asked.

            “Well...she’s as beautiful as she is on screen....” I answered.

            “Haven’t you seen her on some events Ji Sung?” Choi Kang Hee noona turned to him.

            “On some awards night but I haven’t seen her closely.”

            “You know what, I really pity her...imagine what she has to suffer everyday...”JiHye

commented.

            “That’s too much for a celebrity...To be criticized by the press and public that

much..It’s just amazing how strong she is...as well as her agency to keep her career intact.”

Kang Hee noona shows her knowledge as a radio MC.

            “I worked with a director that she used to work with and he said that Athena is

very professional on set. He said that he never once had a problem with her. I think her

personal life is the only problem...”Ji Hye said.

            “That’s the downside of being a celebrity...”Ji Sung hyung said.

I stared at the screen. She’s holding my hand on the scene as her tears fall on her cheeks. I’ll

get to meet her again tomorrow. My manager told me that I’ll have a new beverage CF shoot

tomorrow and she’ll be working with me.
