Jaejoong’s POV

We just finished shooting some of my scene from Protect the Boss here in the SBS building. My

manager went down the basement to ready the van as I change my clothes. 

I’m on my way to the elevator when I took out my phone and dialled his number.

            “Jaejoong, are you done?”

            “Yeah. Just wait for me, I’ll be going down there.”

            “Okay.”

I hung up the phone before entering. Not long after, a woman enters too. She’s wearing a racer

back shirt tucked in a fitted pair of jeans. Her neck is adorned by a simple thin scarf while her long

shiny hair is suspended by a moss green-colored ladies cap. She pressed the same button that I’m

about to press.

She looks familiar I thought but I didn’t pay too much attention for I could hardly see her face with

that cap covering it.

                “So stupid…”

She utters. I take a look at her. It’s only the two of us here inside the elevator. Is she talking about

me? Then I noticed that her fist is curled up tightly. Her face was revealed to me. She seems to be

really angry over something. Her breathing is heavy as she tries to close her jaws tightly. Ah! I

remember seeing her on the television. I’m sure she’s that Athena.

                “Yes that's me.” She said.

                “Huh?”

                “It's not everyday that you get to ride an elevator with the infamous Athena eh?” She

said in a sarcastic tone.

I don’t know what to say. She caught me looking at her but I’m not thinking anything like that.

            “Do you know what manner is? Don’t you know that staring like that to somebody is rude?”

            “S-sorry if I offe..”The first thing that comes out of my mouth after hearing irritation in her voice.

            “As if I need any of that.”

She didn’t give me the chance to finish what I’m saying because she boarded out the elevator once

it opened. I also alighted and walk on the parking lot. My eyes followed her as she comes near a big

van on a distance. A thirty year old woman approached her. I think she’s her manager. She

probably noticed her bad mood. Athena rode the vehicle.

            “Jaejoong. Why aren’t you boarding yet?”

My manager caught my attention.

            “Ah..Ne..”

            “Is there any sasaeng around?” He says as I entered the van. His eyes wonder around the

parking lot.

            “Nothing. Don't worry, I haven't seen any sasaeng fan in the building.”

            “It’s impossible for those sasaeng to enter this building due to the very strict security.”

He started the engine and drive. He kept talking about something in which I just agree even

though I don’t exactly understand what he is blabbering about. I looked out the window. She really

had a bad day I guess. Her mood is totally off and I couldn’t help but think what might possibly

happened to make her feel that way.

Athena’s POV

            “That’s all for today. Thank you very much for all your cooperation this morning. We’ll

see each other again by next week.” The director ended the cast briefing like that.

            “I’ll send the schedule to your managers.” The PD added.

I just attended the cast briefing for my upcoming TV drama. This time, I’ll be working with a new

set of production team. Same goes with the actors and actresses.

            “Thank you…Thank you…”

            “It’s nice to meet you..”

            “See you on day one…”

I heard the people say to one another as they headed to the door. Very common for every start of

a new TV drama, people started befriending each other. They say that having good relationship

among the group would make the job easy and also causes a good product in the end. On the other

hand, I really don’t care about those craps. As long as I would be able to give what’s needed from

me, I won’t feel any obligation to do those silly things.

                        “Athena sshi…”

I turn around to see the person who called my name.

                       “Ne, Kang Dong Won sunbae?” He’s going to be my leading man in this tragic love

story themed drama. He has a genuine smile on his face.

                        “We decided to have a coffee for a while. Maybe you’d like to join us?” He’s inviting

me to join him and some other actresses. He’s really a gentleman.

                        “Ahm…alright.” For the sake of good conduct my mind told me to agree.

The group is not that big. It’s only Kang Dong Won, three rookie actresses, a pair of a veteran actor

and actress, and me. Everybody is busy getting to know each other.  Since the taping would start

next week, they’re trying to have a talk in order to avoid awkwardness on the set. I excused

myself and headed to the comfort room.

I opened the faucet and wash my hand. This is my only excuse to isolate myself from them.

            “Who does she think she is? She ignores everyone but she immediately said yes when

Dong Won Oppa invited her.”

Suddenly I heard those voices coming from the cubicles. I hurriedly entered a vacant one.

            “Do you think she has an interest on him?”

Those are the voices of the two rookie actress with us. The two continued to talk in front of the

mirror.

            “Probably. You know how she is with men. I just don’t get why they kept on giving her

the best projects when she’s a scandalous woman. She doesn’t know anything but seduce men.”

            “Exactly. She knows how to use her beauty and charm.”

            “I just hope that Dong Won Oppa won’t be blinded by her.”

            “If I just don’t need this project, I wouldn’t even want to work with such person!”

            “I was too excited to be able to join this team but earlier in the briefing, I feel sick when I

found out that I’ll be working with her. To think that we’re friends in the show!”

Those things that I heard drove me up the wall. How could they say such things about me? How

sure are they that I have a motive in saying yes to an invitation? They got their smiles ear to ear

earlier! What do I expect? Everyone in this field has two faces. Before I couldn’t control myself, I

decided not to return to that table. I want to leave this place as soon as possible!

I rode the elevator and press the underground floor.

They might say that I left them without saying anything but I couldn’t care any less. I wouldn’t

pretend like nothing happened and sit there with those ill mouthed es.

            “So stupid…” I utter as I remember how silly looking are they trying to act nice a while ago.

I tried my best to calm myself and erase those things from my mind.

Then I noticed a pair of eyes looking at me. The man standing next to me in this elevator might

have being eyeing me for sometime now. What is it again this time?!

            “Yes that's me.” I said without batting an eyelash.

            “Huh?”

            “It's not everyday that you get to ride an elevator with the infamous Athena eh?” I said

mockingly.

I didn’t bother to look at him. He didn’t answer but I could see through my peripheral vision that

he’s still staring at me .

            “Do you know what manner is? Don’t you know that staring like that to somebody is

rude?”

            “S-sorry if I offe..”

            “As if I need any of that.” I didn’t even let him finish. When the elevator door opens, I

stormed out of it.
