I should admit that this is the hardest for me to do so far in Alive album...so, please don't feel that you should accept this trans as ultimately accurate bcuz it might be not....i was already very stressed out and tired when i started this, and it only grew worse seeing all t he confusion I collected while translating...and now...to try explaining it...haa....but i'm happy it's finally the end. Please do note that while the Korean lyrics I'm sure take reference after the Japanese versions, with Romeo's interpretation, that does not mean Japanese n Korean share same lyrics...as far as I see, he only reference the Japanese lyrics into Korean, not translate...so the stories might be a little different though the ideas are the same and that's always something interesting to see, for me. So far, from the few Japanese lyrics version i've seen...they seem to have a little more subtlety/sophistication/elegance while the Korean version seems to be more towards straightforwardness, and a little less story feel to it? idk...i haven't done for any Japanese trans, and i doubt i will need to. (and maybe this song isn't as direct as some others..idk) Nevertheless, yay, i'm done.
Notes:
- All the 'if i didn't', 'if i hadn't', 'if i could', 'if you could'...from my interpretation, they bear the connotation of 'If only I...'/'If only you...'...but i didn't dare add it on my own to the lyrics...[EDIT] I figured it out...all the ifs can be substitute with 'I wish/' - since it shows wishful thinking...so, i've altered the translation...(though maybe not the video...i'll keep original trans there, and alternative here...you can see down there...the green words are the alternative word to substitute and easier to understand.)
- 시간이 스쳐 지나듯 추억도 지울 수 있다면 - I'm not sure if it means, 'if only i could erase memories as time passes', or 'if only i could erase memories of the past'...but after much dwelling n snooping around i chose what i wrote there.
- 지쳐가는 그대 모습 바라만보기엔 - i'm also confused about this, very, confused. not sure if he's really referring to 'your tired image' or..he's tired of seeing your image or what...but i definitely don't think he wish to see your tired image, as in wish to see you tired...but the person's image is already a tired one, bcuz well...maybe bcuz she's victimized, like c'mon...never forget that this is Romeo...that sick dude in the head...yikes...although arguably he does have a tiny portion of human instinct maybe...idk....lol. I like getting into Romeo's lyrics, bcuz they're like story, and i always see him as a character anyway.
- 'I let go of my love, another love' - in case you're confused(probably not)...i think it refers to his dwelling over this is not the first time he lost his love and it's happened many times.
- 세상에 - could also mean things like 'OMG' but i don't think here it's eliciting big reactions, that won't be Romeo-like. i just go by literal... 넓은 - wide/big so...he's like...trying to complaint, yet...not in direct full sentences...it's like...maybe he knows it's useless to complaint about things that always happen, yet he's still unsatisfied with his fate...so the complaints keep coming out somewhat halfway like 'if only you could...' if only i could...' but he never said what would become, the possible alternative consequence, like he's just be even though he already knows it's already his fate that can't be changed. It looks like a monologue bcuz i don't think he can lament all these to anyone(other than listeners) anyway. Well, that's my interpretation.I won't be surprised if this song is way more figurative than it seems.
