First Debriefing Together
Infinitely Dangerous
I didn’t know when I drifted off but I woke up alone covered by his blanket. It was really weird. The bed smelled like Woohyun and reminded me of when I was sleeping in his room. I got up to leave the room and stopped at the door, there was a note stuck to it. “Please leave before I come back.” And I took the note off sighing.
I left his room and walked to the pantry to get something to eat. I grabbed a bottle of water and a breakfast bar before sitting down and chewing on it without too much thought.
“You should fix your hair.” I looked up to see Myungsoo standing in the doorway. “If you are here to lecture me, I suggest you turn around. It’s too early for my daily helping of anger courtesy of Infinite.
“I could get angry, but I want to see how you are doing.” He came over to sit down. I eyed him. “Mwo?”
“I mean from the previous face-offs and the mental assault of the guys on your case.”
“Why do you care, shouldn’t you be defending your hyungs?” I said cautiously. “Well sometimes being the quiet one has its perks. I see a lot more. And I know that you aren’t exactly waltzing in the park after having to lie to us for so long.”
I sighed. “L…I don’t want…I don’t need you to be understanding. I need you to help get your hyungs back into the right of mind. And put everything that happened behind us.”
“We’re human too.” He said. “Huh?”
“Sungyeol said that to me once. We’re human too.” And he got up and left. I watched him leave. It really was the snipers that were the most dangerous.
I finished my bar and got up. I probably had a fight today.
“Minji.” I looked up. “Come, we need to go to the debriefing room. There is a mission. No fight today.” Daniel said and I nodded following him.
Infinite was already there. Woohyun didn’t meet my eyes. I didn’t expect him to. I sat down next to Daniel. “Oh it really seems like you don’t mind.” He whispered in my ear sarcastically and I tried to elbow but he dodged me and chuckled.
“Are you coming?” I asked him. “Nope. Just you and the guys. Pan ni obviously is not allowed. Celestia doesn’t trust her.”
“Well I guess that understandable.” I said.
“Alright, everyone is here.” Daniel got up. “The mission is a panel of judges for an underground fighting ring.”
“So do we separate?” I asked. “Let me finish.” He said. I rolled my eyes. “They’ll be at the underground ring at a cocktail party tonight. You are to dress up and slip in as waiters or guests. Minji, your dress is in your room. Sungyeol you are going to her date. Its tonight at 8 so please discuss your positions and plans.” He said handing Sunggyu the folder. “The blueprints are in there.” And Daniel left him.
“, he practically just tossed me to the dogs.” I muttered under my breath. I got up and walked over to Sunggyu. Our eyes met and we both stopped. He sighed. “Here take a look at it first.” And I took the folder from him, careful not to touch his hand. “Since you and Sungyeol are to be together, both of you need to be on high alert for directions over the earpieces at all times. We’ll be walking around scanning the situation. It probably isn’t safe for you guys to move around too much because it will get suspicious.”
“We should look at the pictures of the targets.” I took from the side pocket and fanned them out. Hoya moved next me to me because he needed to make room for the guys. Our elbows touched and I looked at him. “Mian.” He said softly. “It’s alright.” I said softly back. “Make sure to keep note of all their positions, there are three. We need to take them out at the same time if possible.” Sunggyu continued not commenting if he saw Hoya and my faux pas. “Then I’ll see you guys in a bit.” I said and left before I could make it any more awkward between us.
