“I knew the guys were going to come.” I heard Belle’s irritated voice. And I would have just loved to rip out her vocal chords.

She came in and two guys in suits followed her.

She looked annoyed, like some thing she didn’t want to happen was happening.

“She’s coming.” One of the suited guys said and I knew who he was talking about. Their boss. The one that Shadow was head to head with. Admittedly I was curious. Who exactly was she?

Then in the next few seconds we heard the resounding clack of heels against the floor. Then a woman walked in followed by an entourage of bodyguards and I froze.

“It’s you.” I said and she looked at me, our eyes meeting. Her hair was a wavy black with warm chestnut highlights that stopped at her waist. Her skin was a golden dust of tan, her eyes were hard, her red lips were tight.

“Have I seen you before?” she asked. Her voice was light but the authority behind it was absolute.

Of course this woman wouldn’t remember. I barely remembered her. But then again how could I forget the woman who would stand outside the gates of the orphanage once every week, without fail. She would be there for an hour, the same hour all the kids got to go outside to play. One time my ball rolled to her side of the gate and I went to get it. She smiled warmly at me. “What’s your name?” she asked. “Minji.” I said cautiously. I was only around 5 at the time.

“Minji, that's a very pretty anklet you have there.” She said.

I had looked at my ankle. I would forget it was there sometimes. “Sister said that whoever left me here, it was already on me.” I said. Then I bowed to her respectfully and ran back to play.

I would notice her more now but I never wanted to go talk to her. There was just something about her. I had felt a weird emotion when I was with her but I could not place what it was.

My eyes dropped. “Nevermind.” I said. “Give me the file.” She held her hand out and Belle put the file in her hands and she went to sit down and open it. “Pan ni. And…Minji.” There was a flash of something in her hard eyes when she read my name off the paper.

Could her brain make the connection? I had changed a lot after all.

“Let them down.” Was her next order and the goons came over to untie us. I swallowed dryly as my feet finally touched the ground and they sat us in cold metal chairs facing the woman.

“Celestia.” Daniel walked in and her eyes looked up just for a second before going back to the papers. “Have you gotten anything of use?” she asked her voice calm and even.

“They refuse to talk.” He said with a hint of anger.

“How do we tell you what we don’t know?” I said annoyed. Her piercing brown eyes came back to me now. “Noone was talking to you.” Belle said and she slapped me across the face. “Did I ask you to do that, Belle?” Celestia’s voice said without looking up from the file.

Belle blinked like she didn’t expect that and her head bowed as she took a step back.

Pan ni scoffed. “Obedient like a dog I see.” She said and Belle almost went for her. Daniel wrapped his arm around her waist to hold her back.

Celestia finally looked up. Her face seemed ageless. She looked in her mid thirties.

“Why did you stand out there?” I suddenly asked. I blinked. Why did I say that? Pan ni blinked too and looked at me confused. Her eyes met mine again and her expression turned to one of contemplation. “Outside where?” she asked getting up slowly.

“The orphanage.” And then if it was possible her eyes pierced even more deeply into me.
