Hades and Medusa

Aish! That Jung Daehyun!

Jo Jonghwan.

Oh, how I would like to send him to a bottomless pit of evil. No worries, he’d wish the same for me, so don’t call me cruel.

“Namjoo? Are you alright?” Daehyun’s tender tone snapped me out of my trance as I turned to him, my eyes wide and alarming. He probably got the gist that I was angry yet confused, because he nodded slightly and turned to BTOB who were too busy to notice me.

“Hyunsik, I spotted Seohyun hanging around the buffet area-“

“SEOHYUN AND FOOD?! I’M COMING FOR YOU BABY!” Hyunsik cried out, running like a maniac towards the buffet area.

“I don’t know if he’s talking about the food or Seohyun.” Eunwang sighed as if he experienced this before and chased after his dongsaeng, probably afraid he’ll scare SNSD next.

“Well, I’m going to find a hot girl. Be back whenever!” Changsub saluted me and Daehyun as he dashed off the other direction, along with Minhyuk and Ilhoon. Sungjae muttered something like ‘punch sounds good’ before shuffling off somewhere. Peniel followed the maknae, making sure he’ll not drown himself in the punch.

“So, why did you suddenly freeze as if you’ve seen a ghost? Am I really that unappealing?” Daehyun tried to ease the tension that was clearly building up inside me. It probably showed on my face, because he was staring worriedly at me, his eyebrows furrowing together.

“Do you know that guy? That guy with black swept hair, round, innocent and darkish brown eyes, slightly tan skin, smooth-shaped jaw-“

“Okay, can you please stop with the descriptions? It’s creeping me out.” Daehyun shuddered, the tension inside me lessening.

I guess I have to tell you the story huh?

Well, I and Jo Jonghwan go way back. And I’m talking about ‘We met since kindergarten’ way back.

He and I… we have a gruesome history.

Okay, I exaggerated it a bit. It wasn’t really gruesome, but it wasn’t sunshine and daisies either.

I practically hated that guy.

And it’s safe to say, that he hates me as equally as I hated him. He never really liked me, and he expressed it a bunch of times. His ways of tormenting me is limited, since I’m gratefully a female, but that doesn’t mean he hasn’t stepped over the forbidden line once in awhile.

Bugs in my hair, my extra clothes after P.E ripped apart, him sabotaging my chances of achieving a high score (because that insufferable idiot got a hold of my test and changed my answers) and the time when he read my diary in front of the whole school.

Yep, no wonder why I love him so effing much.

I told my history to with Jonghwan to Daehyun, and he listened attentively. He raised his eyebrows in amusement when I got to the part where he read my diary.

“It’s not funny, Ice Prince! He embarrassed me countless of times!” I defended myself as his shoulders shook with restrained laughter.

“But you’ve embarrassed him a couple of times too, right?” Daehyun smirked as if to say ‘If you deny it, you’re not Namjoo’.

“Yes,” I drawled out the ‘yes’ and stomped my foot, “But he did things worse to me! You should’ve seen us two when we were in middle school. I almost got suspended because of that Hades,” I growled, clenching my fists in anger.

“Hades? What, he’s secretly a Greek God?” Daehyun teased, poking both my cheeks which were puffed out in anger. I glared at Daehyun who chuckled at my attempt in looking furious.

“I gave him that nickname, because his personality is dark and evil,” I hissed through gritted teeth.

“If only I could wring his neck-“

“Medusa?! Is that really you?!” A voice that I once thought disappeared off the face of the earth called out, catching Daehyun’s attention. I turned around reluctantly to come face to face with the Underworld Ruler himself.

I remembered his old nickname for me. When I called him Hades, he would call me Medusa.

You know, the snake woman who turns people to stone.

“Well, nice seeing you out of the dark, Hades. I’m surprised your three-headed god didn’t eat you yet,” I retorted, glaring at him with passion. The others didn’t take notice of our argument, since they were mesmerized with Himchan’s aegyo.

I shuddered.

It’s Himchan’s aegyo we’re talking about here.

“Have you turned people to stone yet, Medusa? Wait, your face could do that more accurately before your eyes though.” Jonghwan pretended to think as he approached me with one of his ‘friends’.

“Oh Hades, how I really, really hate you.” I smiled sweetly at him as he rolled his eyes. Daehyun looked between us and cleared his throat. I jumped a bit, realizing that he was beside me.

“Okay, someone please explain this?” a cute, baby faced guy suddenly spoke up in the right side of Jonghwan. I glanced at him and turned my glare into a something more subtle.

“Tell your evil friend here to disappear,”

“And you sir, can you please restrain your little ball of sunshine here? She looks like she wants to murder me,” Jonghwan told Daehyun who sighed and placed a firm hold on my shoulder.

Hey, I’m not that rabid!

Well, sometimes!

“Sincerely, from the bottom of Tartarus, I really dislike you,”

“Back at you, Medusa.” Jonghwan winked which almost sent me over the edge.

This guy was too full of himself!

He was the captain of the basketball team, he was topped every class he took, and overall, he was legitimately perfect.

That’s what I didn’t like about this guy.

Everything comes easily to him, fame, money and girls. He doesn’t need to work hard for what he does.

Ever since kindergarten, I was always overshadowed because of him. Whenever I did something great, he would do something the people thought was ‘better’.

Call it jealousy, envy, bitterness for all I care. I just really hated how this guy carried himself.

“What are you doing here? Last time I checked, you couldn’t sing, nor rap, nor dance, nor breathe properly-“

“As a matter of fact, I’m a vocalist in a new group called 100%. So, how much have you progressed in your life?” Jonghwan asked curiously, mocking me. The guy on his left shifted sideways, clearly not comfortable with the conversation.

“None of your business, scorpion breathe,” I snarled angrily, shooting daggers at the boy before me.

“Well, before a fight breaks out, we’re going to enjoy the sleepover in this cabin. If you would excuse us,” the guy on Jonghwan’s left said hurriedly, pulling the other two along with him. I stared at Jonghwan’s arrogant backside.

How do you get an arrogant backside?

Never ask me that question.

“Okayyy, I guess that he’s your eighteenth ex-boyfriend thrice broken up with and four times gotten back together with?” Daehyun asked in rapid succession as I blinked up at him.

“You know what, I’m not going to answer that. The point is, he’s here and I have to come up with a plan before he does,” I replied, furrowing my eyebrows together.

“Why would you need a plan?” Daehyun asked as we walked leisurely around the cabin, observing the other idols that paid no attention to us. Daehyun took my hand in his as I smiled gratefully.

“Because! Hades will embarrass me if I don’t embarrass him first! And I don’t want to relive my middle school days again. Bugs in my hair.” I shuddered as I remembered he put the class’ tarantula on my head when I was sleeping in class.

“Alright, Ms. Revenge. But first, can we just enjoy that we’re not in trouble and that all idols in this camp are having an awesome time?” Daehyun chided, shrugging his shoulders. I sighed and walked around the cabin and sat in front, hearing one of Himchan’s funny stories.

“Cha! A new game shall begin now! I want two girls and two boys to stand here in front. Any volunteers?” Himchan asked the crowd. A bunch of hands shot up as I made a dive behind Daehyun.

“You there! And Sunny from SNSD!” The crowd applauded as I saw Sunny go up to the front accompanied by-

I gritted my teeth in distaste, hearing Daehyun chuckle.

Accompanied by Hades.

“So, what’s your name?” Hyorin asked Jonghwan sweetly. He flashed a charming smile, and I swore I heard Lime sigh from all the way here.

“I’m Jonghwan, from 100% Hyorin-ssi. It’s an honor to meet you.” Jonghwan grabbed her hand gently and kissed it, staring up at her under his long lashes.

And there goes the whole female population in the cabin.

“I would like to call Daehyunnie and Namjoongie up front!” Himchan announced, the crowd clapping more loudly.

I guess because they’re fond of Daehyun.

“I guess we should go up there,” Daehyun muttered reluctantly as he stood up, holding out his hand for me to hold.

“Remind me later to kill Kim Himchan,” I mumbled resentfully as I got up and followed Daehyun to the front. The crowd parted for us to walk through, some even waved at me.

I waved back of course.

Too random? Sorry.

We got to the front, standing in the right side of Himchan as the other couple stood beside Hyorin.

“We call this, the Apple Game!” both Hyorin and Himchan announced which made the crowd laugh appreciatively and clap loudly.

I groaned. I was so going to kill whoever organized this event.

Oh wait, I did.

Ack, I’ll just blame Himchan.

“The purpose of the Apple Game is for people to grow closer. Daehyun and Namjoo are already close, too close to call normal.” Himchan raised an amused eyebrow as I blushed, my bravado flushing down the toilet.

I couldn’t talk back to him now, in front of idols and the cameras.

I still want to live longer than eighteen years.

“So! We will be splitting them! And where’s the fun if the pairing is girl and girl and boy and boy?” Himchan smirked evilly as the crowd clapped excitedly.

“Kim Himchan-“ Daehyun started to growl, but Hyorin cut in.

“Jonghwan! Please proceed in front of Namjoo, and Daehyun-ssi, please come over here to Sunny,” Hyorin instructed, smiling at the both of us. We couldn’t turn her down, especially Daehyun.

Sweet smiles were always the weakness of Daehyun. He would turn smitten every time someone smiled at him sweetly.

Daehyun nodded enthusiastically as he went over to the two girls excitedly, as if Christmas has come early.

Great, Daehyun will be in between two beautiful girls as I get stuck with Yongguk’s wife and Hades. Wonderful.

“Cha! The apples please!” Himchan instructed as the crew gave each Himchan and Hyorin a green apple.

“Please move closer, jeez, as if you guys are preparing for World War III.” Himchan chuckled at his own joke, along with the others.

I could feel a vein throbbing against my temple, my fists inching to come in contact with Jonghwan’s face.

That boy even had the nerve to smile, roll his eyes and cross his arms.

It was always the trademark of his, supposedly making girls fall to his feet.

The only thing I want to fall to his feet is a large object, preferably something that could hurt him.

“Already planning, Medusa? My, my, you’re not the child of Athena. You were once a beautiful girl, but were turned into a monster.” Jonghwan smirked victoriously as Himchan placed the apple between our foreheads.

I practically wanted to drive the apple into his pretty little forehead.

“At least I was beautiful once. Hades? Even Himchan looks better than him,” I countered, Himchan glaring at me in the process.

“Not bad Medusa,”

“You’re so dead, Hades.”
