A Self-Declared Holiday for Sulking
Romantic Street: A Detour To DestinyYuri POV
I am the most stupid of all, the most idiotic, bird-brained, dumbest man in the whole world. Seriously, I don’t even know what the hell is wrong with me. I let go of a woman like Tiffany, now look at what happened. I’m the one suffering.
As much as I wanted to get her back to my life, I couldn’t anymore. It’s too late for me. She’s now happy with Sooyoung. Well, I know she really is. I heard a rumor they’re dating each other now and were always together in school. I did not bother to take a glance of them because that will just add to the daggers already torn in my heart. I’ll say it again. It’s all my fault because I am the most stupid man ever existed in this planet. If there’s a Guinness Book World Record for this I’m sure I will win this title.
It’s been almost a month since I’ve seen and heard from Tiffany. I never really get to cross paths with her here in school. It must be because we’re both trying our hardest not to see each other here. I’m sort of avoiding my friends too since I don’t want any more interrogations about my dead love life.
“Dude!” Taeyeon called. Speaking of the devil.
“Wait up!” He shouted again. He was on the far end of the hallway with whom I think was Yoong, following behind. I hurried myself to the second floor pretending I didn’t hear him. All of a sudden, Yoong popped out in front of me. Crap. Does he have teleportation ability or something?
“Why are you avoiding us, hyung?” He asked.
“Stop bothering me, I’m busy!”
“Busy on what?!” Taeyeon snapped, still gasping for air, “You really run fast, Yuri. No wonder Mr. Shin wants you in his football team.”
“I’m busy on my studies, can’t you guys see?”
“You didn’t even prepare for your quiz bees last year and you won them.” Yoong retorted.
“I wanted to focus this time, okay.”
“Dude, stop avoiding us. It’s not like we’re your ex-girlfriends.”
“What do you guys want?”
“Hang out. Just like we always do!”
“Fine.”
---
“Hyung, we said hang out. Not cloud-watching session on the rooftop!” Yoong complained.
“This is called hanging out too. See, the three of us together, watching clouds move in the sky. Aren’t they beautiful?”
Yoong sighed in defeat, “If you say so...”
“How about you, Taeng? Don’t you like it too?”
“...”
“Taeng?”
“Zzzzzz...”
“Tsk tsk. Tae-hyung, the same as always...” Yoong said. We continued to watch the clouds. Come to think of it, I never really have done this before. It’s kind of relaxing.
I tried to open up a topic, “So how are you and Jessica?”
“Nothing new with us.” He said and sighed, “I think I’ll just die from sadness.”
“You’re starting to sound like her now.”
“You know, I think this year isn’t really the year for us both. It’s like that countdown has a curse or something. You see, the four of us were all together that time. We were all happy ‘til Sooyoung and Taeyeon hyung came. Look at what happened then, Sooyoung is the reason of your break up with Fany-noona then me and Jess- WHAT?!” He bolted up, looking so shock at what he had realized.
“What ‘what’?”
“Taeyeon-hyung is the reason for my grieving?!” He looked at me flabbergasted then glanced at Taeyeon. Oh. I forgot that he still didn’t know Taeyeon and Jessica had a thing before. Should I tell him or not?
“How- how can you say such thing? That’s ridiculous.” I said and faked a laugh.
“My intuitions are always accurate, hyung. There’s never a time I’m wrong in them. Like for example, when I first met you and Sooyoung, I guessed that you guys will have a big fight questioning your friendship someday and look at what happened now. I even told you about that before and you just brushed it off.”
“Yeah, right. Whatever, Nostradamus. So what if Taeyeon’s the reason, huh? It’s not like you can do anything about it.”
“Yeah... you’re right.” He lied down again beside me. “You know hyung, I think I’m really head over heels on Jessica now. I couldn’t stop this feeling ever since I met her one and a half years ago.”
“You’ve met her before you transferred here?”
“Yeah. It was the time when I was trying to take my revenge on you from stealing my Joohyun away. I decided to quit on pulling pranks on you because nothing ever worked. I was just wandering around Im Gong that time when I saw her. She was really depressed before.”
“She always looks sad most of the time.”
“Yeah, she always does. But you know that time was really different. It’s ten times worse than her normal ‘down’ state, like... she didn’t want to live anymore.”
