141224 The Day We Got Back Together
xuanmiin: Kwon's point of view.
-
Ga In comes over to the dorm to pay us a visit soon after.
“Sunye-yah!” She warmly greets Sunye with a hug.
“Unnie! So sorry for imposing on you.”
She dismisses Sunye with a flick of the hand, “It’s fine, it’s fine. We wouldn’t want you to be hounded by the media would we? And you can’t go back either. Please, make yourself at home. Don’t worry about me.”
Sunye sends the godson off to one of the rooms to watch television instead. That suggests that the conversation is going to be unsuitable for young children.
“Unnie, pardon my bluntness.” Sunye’s sure up to something, “But would you mind if Kwonnie’s room is the most comfortable for me?” She’s testing Ga In.
“You want to occupy his room? If he’s fine with it, which I’m sure he is.”
“What do you think about the honeymoon?” That its unfinalised state.
“No hurry. We’ll figure something out. Anyway both of us are free of any major commitments in the short term.”
“I heard from Kwonnie over here that you have multiple guests are your place too. And I’m occupying the 2AM dorm. I’m sure unnie’s aware that you can’t expect guests to magically clear out…” Sunye conveniently leaves the sentence unfinished.
Ga In’s amused, “Of all things, Sunye. I mean, don’t overthink anything. And don’t worry about us. We’ll figure something out.”
Sunye exhales sharply, “Why are you two exactly the same kind?” Ga In obviously passed Sunye’s little test with flying colours.
“Don’t you think it’s a good thing? If not we’d be clashing all the time.”
“Are you nervous then, unnie? Getting married?”
“Politically correct answer. Oh, of course I am, it’s a big commitment, and about entering the next phase of life together with your partner. But honestly, no. It’s only Kwon-ah. What’s there to be nervous about?”
“Only Kwon-ah! Only! Is that what you’re supposed to say about your boyfriend?” I know she didn’t mean the only in that way though.
“I don’t even know what to say.” Sunye croaks.
Ga In laughs, “I’d like to think that at 32, I know what I’m doing with my life. If I were 25, I think I would be extremely uneasy and nervous. If I were 25, I would be concerned about all the things I’m not concerned about. But I’m not.”
I love her confidence.
“I don’t know what to say except, Kwonnie, I’m sure you know you’re lucky.”
“Yes, I’m aware. I don’t need anyone else to tell that I’m lucky. And I also don’t need anyone to tell me to take care of Ga In-ah. By default, that is the next line that will come out from everyone’s mouth.”
Sunye smiles, “Of course I know you will. I haven’t known you for such a long time for nothing, you know? Except that unnie isn’t one who needs mollycoddling. But I’m sure you’ll do just fine.”
She turns her attention to Ga In.
“Unnie, trust him. I won’t say many people can be trusted, but he is one who can be. And Kwonnie really loves you. I’ve never seen him so hung up over and attached to someone before. You probably know that he’s a wholeheartedly devoted guy, and he’ll treat you right.” Ga In nods ever so slightly, “And unnie. I’ll say this on behalf of Kwon. Please don’t break him. It’s a task putting him back together. He’s strong but fragile at the same time.”
“Do you need me to promise you?” Ga In’s trying to lighten the situation which just got serious very fast.
“Can you, unnie?”
“I can, Sunye. I can.” She chuckles, but it’s a tad forced, “After all, after Kwonnie’s parents, you’re one person who is critical to impress.”
“Really, unnie?” She’s
