Kwonnie and I attempt to make a run for it to avoid further interrogation of the commentators who are already on to something. We fail, as they crash our waiting room, lock the door behind them, and confront us.
“Sorry.” Ong insincerely apologises, “You said that you would tell them after the recording.”
Kwon sits himself on the couch, “To cut a long story short, yes, your suspicions are right.”
“They haven’t announced it yet though.” Jinwoon pointlessly adds.
“Announcing it this Sunday.” Kwon gives a little bit more.
“I can’t believe we just did the whole recording without knowing of this major development.” NaYoung unnie protests, crossing her arms in indignance.
“And I thought you only kept your relationship for a long time.” Misun unnie deadpans, clicking her tongue while scrutinizing both of us.
“When?” Jungmin oppa demands to know.
“Ga Innie’s birthday.” Kwon simply replies.
“That soon!” The three recently informed people shriek in our faces.
“This year?” Jungmin oppa has this inconceivable urge to clarify something that I think is fairly clear cut.
“You guys are seriously unbelievable. This kind of stage, and then you inform everyone else that, oh yes, you two are together. Sure as heck are you two together. You’re engaged! Gosh.” Misun unnie joins the hoard of disbelieving seniors.
“And what’s wrong with that?” I ask, but get promptly ignored.
“This Kwonnie really meant it when he said that if they became real, they would keep it secret.” NaYoung unnie shakes her head.
Kwonnie stands up from the couch suddenly, “All I’ve gotten since you’ll entered the room was scolding. Aren’t you going to congratulate us already?” His tone is unapologetically irritated. “Note, I am nevertheless announcing it before it becomes final. Maybe if I only announced it after then I am deserving of such scolding.”
“Kwon-ah, you know we’re happy for you—” Misun unnie starts, and Kwon cuts her off.
“I know that people are happy for us. But if you are happy for us, then can you kindly express it, instead of biting my head off first. If you think that scolding Kwonnie is the most original reaction ever, trust me, it is not. I’ve gotten scolded or had my abilities questioned like every single time. Not funny.” He’s blabbering too much to actually be angry. If you ask me, he’s pulling their leg.
He gets the desired reaction anyway, because they panic. Yes, three respected seniors panic due to Kwonnie’s outburst. Ong and Jinwoon have knowing smiles.
Kwonnie flops back down, and gives a soft smile, “Just joking. It’s okay. Just that I think sometimes people don’t know it wasn’t easy for me to get to this point.”
“It wasn’t?” I don’t catch who asks this, but I really don’t think this question
