After spending a completely pleasant day with my family, night rolls around. Ga In indeed is in time for dinner. As predicted, mom is more than eager to cook for us, and we do stay for dinner. It proceeds smoothly, as usual, since Ga In isn’t a stranger to eating dinner with my family, and they get along pretty well. Mom and dad used to treat her like my older cousin of sorts, because we weren’t exactly comfortable in front of parents. Lately though, they’ve been starting to treat her a little differently, though not in a bad way. Today, they asked Ga In if she liked children. There seems to be an important question every dinner.

“Ga In-ah, so do you like children?” Mom and dad wish that they’ll have grandchildren soon, I know it. But this probably is jumping the gun.

Ga In shoots me a suspicious look, she knows what they were trying to get at. “Children? I’m okay with them. Not the kind that adores them to bits, but I’m okay with them.”

“So you don’t hate children?” In my mom’s books, she may just have flunked the question. But Ga In’s just being herself.

“No, I don’t hate children.” She leans forward, “Though this really isn’t the question is it? I’ll have children with any guy who wishes to have children with me.” She returns to leaning against the chair. Dad gives her a horrified look. Mom is similarly shocked. It then dawns on me.

“Any man?”

Her hand flies to in distress, “No, no, I didn’t mean that!” She waves her hands in front of her face frantically, “I meant that I’ll have children with my future husband if he wants children.” Her flustered expression is adorable.

“For a moment I thought you really meant any man.” Dad’s visibly relieved, but he can’t pass on the opportunity to take a dig at her, “I don’t know how many children you would have then.”

Now Ga In’s bashful, “I don’t know how that slipped out of my mouth. I definitely didn’t mean it that way, not in the slightest. Though I must say that this is an exaggeration.”

“Many is relative.” Dad concludes with finality, and Ga In doesn’t attempt to dispute that.

“What about your career, Ga In-ah?” Mom’s probing, further than she would normally go.

“I love my job, and I don’t intend to stop working. I would love to be able to continue performing on stage again. Though I guess, the nature of my work will change. It has been changing already, and I’ll just have to deal with it. My BEG unnies have all successfully done it. I don’t see why I can’t.”

“The agency is okay with that?” Yes, Nega is supportive actually, though I do think that has a lot to do with the fact that they’re very motivated and self directed.

“We’ve gotten free reign since a long time ago, so they won’t do anything to me. They’re very accommodating, and now Nega produces way too much music for our own acts to use, so we are forced to resort to selling.” Ga In pulls all the stops to convince mom that it’s fine, but she isn’t all too convinced.

“They won’t stipulate that you can’t get pregnant?” Finally mom has extremely directly addressed her major concern. She knows Ga In is incredibly driven and career-oriented, similar to how I am in truth, so she’s worried that she won’t have grandchildren.

“This is the point isn’t it?” Ga In chuckles, “It’s pretty unreasonable for them to specify at my age don’t you think? Especially since I’ve been under Nega for ages.” Mom is concerned about Ga In’s age. We would be able to put it off for a few years if she was younger than I, but Ga In isn’t, and that puts mom’s wish for a grandchild in jeopardy.
