141224 The Day We Got Back Together
xuanmiin: Kwon's point of view. Honestly, I didn't see where this was going after I wrote it :/ Expect nothing.

I was at the tail end of my promotions, with about one more round of music shows and a couple of varieties left to clear. But right now, I had Ong hyung’s wedding to worry about. I was to emcee the reception, which was coming up very shortly. I hadn’t had enough time to practice. Well, to be honest, I knew he wanted his two idol best friends to emcee—who were, Taecyeon hyung and Ga In noona. But Ga In was hesitant since everyone else was from JYPE. In the end, he roped me in because Taecyeon hyung was sure he couldn’t handle it alone. Ong hyung had managed to convince Ga In to sing to a congratulatory song, on the basis that Taecyeon hyung was a rapper and his fiancée was a fan. Frankly, that suited her just fine because she wasn’t a newbie to singing at weddings, after all the closed door affairs all the BEG noonas (not to mention numerous agency staff) held. She sure was more confident of her singing compared to hosting anyway.
I sneak into the hall with Taecyeon hyung, we caught sight of Ga In lounging around in a corner, fiddling with her handphone.
“Noona, shouldn’t you be practicising?” Taecyeon hyung was sure nervous about his emceeing gig later on.
“Nervous aren’t you, Taec?” Ga In put her handphone aside.
“Seeing that noona pushed the emcee job to Kwonnie, you would be nervous if you were me, don’t you think?”
“Don’t you think it’s weird for me to be emceeing when I’m the only one not from JYPE? JYPE artists all help out on previous occasions.”
“Not very different from singing don’t you think, Ga Innie?” It wasn’t.
“Perhaps. Kwonnie’s fine with everything. But before you protest Taec, I know you would rather emcee than sing a congratulatory song.” Taecyeon hyung gives Ga In a face, pulls out his script, turns away and starts rehearsing.
“Shouldn’t you be rehearsing too, Kwon-ah?” Ga In now gives me her full attention, fixing my suit. “You didn’t have much time to.”
“I should, but Kwonnie misses Ga Innie and wishes to talk to her.” Yeah, I haven’t seen her since the last time I sneaked to BEG’s waiting room during their goodbye stage, which was slightly under a week ago.
“It’s Ong’s wedding, Kwonnie doesn’t wish to mess up does he?” Ga In replies in the same cute tone that I just used.
“But later Kwonnie can’t talk freely with Ga Innie in case anything leaks.” I pout, unhappy. I’m at my hyung’s wedding and I have to keep my relationship a secret. Ironic.
“I’ll call you tonight, okay? Now be a good boy and practice. We both need practice.” Ga In gives my hand a quick squeeze and heads off to practice, leaving me alone with Taecyeon hyung.
“It confounds me how someone big sized like me can be transparent.” Taecyeon hyung mutters under his breath, and I playfully snarl at him. “Kwonnie misses Ga Innie.” He pretends to retch. “Seriously, how old are you?”
“At least this is congruent with my image. The same cannot even be said of you.”
I spend the next hour or so frantically rehearsing my script with Taecyeon hyung, to ensure that we are in sync with each other and all the transitions are smooth. I memorise for a final time the critical parts of the script to prevent hiccups as much as possible. Then I scoot back out to join Changmin hyung and Jinwoon (who were practicising their congratulatory duet prior) for the 2AM photo opportunity and “officially arrive” at Seulong’s wedding.
Only when 2AM arrived at the designated table did I realise that something didn’t exactly tally. 2PM was already there which made eight of us (Jun.K was stuck in the military) assigned to table meant for ten.
Shortly after, Jinyoung hyung arrives, which shouldn’t be all that surprising, seeing that Seulong hyung is after all a member of OneDay, which for today, seemingly makes our table the most important. After looking curiously at the two seats, he opts to sit beside Taecyeon hyung.
“Looks like Seulong put all those assisting in the wedding at the same table.” Jinyoung hyung observes. “Who’s the last guest?”
“If I knew, I would tell you Jinyoung hyung. But I don’t.” I shrug, glancing at the empty seat beside me again.
“Guess the last guest! Let’s bet!” Jinwoon chirped.
“When Jo Director doesn’t know, you can’t expect any of us to can you?” Changmin hyung dryly comments.
