Minho had a race this morning. It wasn’t a formal thing; just something he’d decided to do at the last minute. He wasn’t really ready at all.

                Taemin accompanied him to the race, but wasn’t going to run (for obvious reasons).

                “You can do this, hyung! You’re the best runner I know,” Taemin said encouragingly.

“Taeminnie, I don’t know if I can. I haven’t practiced at all. I’ve barely been running since winter.”

                “Don’t put yourself down. You got this! Come on hyung, I’ll be waiting for you at the finish line, okay? You’re going to be thirsty so I’ll take you to get juice after, okay? Look forward to it!”

                “O-okay,” Minho said, butterflies fluttering around in his stomach. He really wasn’t ready. Taemin disappeared into the crowd, and suddenly Minho wanted to run after him. It was a good incentive. He stepped up to the starting line along with the other runners.

                “Ready, go!” the starter shouted as the gun went off with a bang. They all started running, some already far ahead of the others. Minho pushed towards the finish. Must get to Taemin, he thought determinedly. Just when he thought his legs were going to give out, he crossed the finish line, welcomed by cheers.

                “Hyung!” he heard Taemin cry. “Hyung!” Taemin appeared and ran to Minho, hugging him even though he knew perfectly well that Minho was covered in sweat. “You did awesome, hyung.”

                “I didn’t even place,” Minho replied dejectedly.

                “I know this sounds cheesy, but you’re always first place for me, hyung,” Taemin giggled as he took Minho towards the juice shop.
