Taemin sat down next to Minho, pouting.

                “What is it, Taemin-ah?” Minho asked gently, and Taemin sighed.

                “Umma wants me to go home on Friday night. She wants me to meet appa and talk to him. I don’t get it, hyung. Why is she letting him in? She has a boyfriend already. She used to tell me how much she hated him for walking out on us. And I hate him too. So why? Why do I have to go meet with them as if they’re a thing again and I’m just the troublesome piece of the puzzle that won’t seem to cooperate? I thought that was him. He was the troublesome one, not me. I just don’t get it.”

                “Maybe you should go,” Minho suggested. “Maybe he wants to be a family again.”

                “Don’t you understand?” Taemin said desperately. “I don’t want him to be in my family. It’s like getting a new father. I’ve never had a father. I don’t want one anymore. I’d rather umma gets married to her current boyfriend, someone I actually know, than have him be my father.”

                “Back on the anniversary of that day, you seemed to want one.”

                “I wanted one when I was two. I still want one, but one I’ve had since I was born. You know?”

                “I guess I can imagine,” Minho replied, folding Taemin into his arms. “I still think you should go, though. See what they have to say. Who knows, maybe you’ll find it interesting?”

                “Okay,” Taemin sighed. “I’ll go. But that doesn’t mean I’ll cooperate.”

                “I’ve always liked a rebellious Taemin,” Minho chuckled.
