“I’m sorry to bother you,” Minho said to Taemin’s mother while Taemin was sleeping on the couch in the living room, “but I have a question.”

                “What is it, Minho-yah?” she asked kindly, putting down her paper and taking off her glasses, signaling that she was ready to listen.

                “What’s up with Taeminnie’s appa?” he asked, and Taemin’s mother faltered for a moment. She frowned, looking away, and let out a sigh.

                “I feel bad that Taeminnie has never had a real father. And I’ve jumped around boyfriends far too much for him to have a real masculine figure in his life. And as much as I love Jungseok, he’s not the fatherly type. Taemin needs his biological father. But I don’t want Taemin’s father.”

                “Taemin doesn’t want him either,” Minho explained, and Taemin’s mother looked interested.

                “Really?” she asked, and Minho nodded.

                “He’s happy with just you.”

                “And you,” she smiled, and Minho had to blush just a little bit. “Well, that certainly makes me feel better. And even though I don’t think I can forgive his father, I hope one day Taemin finds that he can.”

                “I think he will,” Minho reassured her, and she smiled.

                “Thank you, Minho-yah,” she said. “Thank you. You’re so good to my son.”

                “I love him,” Minho said, and she nodded knowingly.
