It was one of the last days of their summer break, so Han Nina and her friends wanted to spend it well. The group of five boys and five girls decided to rent a pension by the beach in Busan.
They were going around Busan, having fun exploring different tourist attractions and going on food tours. On the second day, they decided to spend the entire day at the beach to enjoy the nice weather. After getting dressed in swimwear, they all ran to the beach (which was right next to the pension) and had the time of their lives.
After spending a few hours playing around with her friends in the water and having mini photoshoot sessions, Nina decided to take a break and rest on the beach towel. She took out a nice book to read and sat down before she began to read.
After an hour of silently reading to herself, someone came and sat down beside her.
"Hey," Daniel said.
Nina, who was so absorbed in the book that she didn't realize someone was right beside her, jumped in shock. Once she saw that it was her close childhood friend, Kang Daniel, she sighed in relief.
"Hey! You gave me a heart attack!" Nina said as she gave the back of his head a good slap.
Daniel lowered his head a bit so lower the impact, and he chuckled while doing so.
"Sorry," he said with a wide smile.
Nina placed her bookmark to save the page she was on before she closed the book and put it away, thinking that she did enough reading for the day.
"Why aren't you over there with the rest of them?" Nina asked as she looked at the rest of their friends having a blast in the water.
Daniel shrugged. "I wanted to rest a bit."
Nina nodded before returning her attention to the ocean in front of them. Just then, she noticed that there was a little kid standing right in front of the waters, hesitating whether to go in or not. It seemed that he came with a large group of children, maybe with a summer camp group or something of the sort. She smiled seeing how cute he looked, testing out the water as if to check whether it was safe or not. Seeing that, she stood up and walked towards him.
She greeted him, asking for his name and sharing her own name to him. Then she stepped towards the water to show him that it was safe, before she grabbed his hand and led him in. The kid was afraid at first, but with Nina's help, he managed to overcome his fear and realized that the shallow water wasn't something to be afraid of. He began to make his way towards his friends in the water in no time, and he made sure smile at Nina as if to say thanks. Nina waved bye, telling him to be safe before she head back to her beach towel.
Daniel was watching her the entire time, admiring how caring she was. He felt his heart flutter seeing how pretty she looked as she was helping the little kid. He always liked how kind and selfless she was, and that was probably the main reason why he began to like his childhood friend. He kept it a secret though, preferring this friendship he had with her where he could joke around with her, yet also share each other's deepest thoughts. But times like this left him blushing a bit.
"You can't even swim, idiot," Daniel said, jokingly.
Nina shrugged. "I'm not going to drown in water that's two feet high."
Daniel chuckled. They spent an hour or so talking and admiring the ocean view. It was so easy for them to talk to each other, as they were each other's closest friend.
Suddenly, a few of their friends came behind them and grabbed the two of them by their arms and feet. Daniel and Nina each had a few of their guy friends grabbing them. They were being held by their limb and dragged towards the ocean. Their friends were laughing and the two looked terrified, knowing what to expect.
When the water was deep enough, their friends threw the two in the ocean. Daniel fell into the water and i
