"Now, remember you guys have a final on this tomorrow! Good luck, study a lot, and come on time tomorrow!" the teacher reminded.
"Nae!" the students replied in unison.
"You're dismissed!" the teacher said as she walked out of the classroom after the students polietly thanked her with a bow.
Sad with the thought of finals, Ayji dragged her feet as she walked over to her locker near the end of the day. History is my worst subject. Why didn't I study more? she thought, regretting not putting enough time to review over all the material that was to be tested the day after. She opened her locker and quickly got out all the things she needed and closed it before leaving school.
Once she got home, she studied for the final nonstop. Her eyes would not leave the history textbook or the notes she took in class. She tried to memorize all the material she could, hoping that all this cramming would get her a good grade on it. She even took her textbook downstairs and studied while she ate dinner.
However, as much as she wanted to stay up all night studying, her eyes began to slowly droop. The words on the textbook became foreign to her and she could not concentrate that well. Her body eventually gave up and she ended up falling asleep on her arms, which rested comfortabley on the textbook. She slept a well-needed two hour nap.
Woohyun, on the other hand, was continuing to study. He happened to really like history, so he excelled in that subject. History, especially the history of Korea, fascinated him, and he didn't mind studying for the subject. Unlike math or science, he wouldn't fall asleep while studying, unlike poor Ayji. After reading the chapter for the nth time, he decided to take a mini break. Ayji probably went home before me to study, he thought. Just with the thought of his girlfriend, he began smiling. He checked the time and noticed that it nearing midnight. Oh, she must've fallen asleep. She always falls asleep at this time, he thought with a smile. Guess I have to wake her up.
He got his phone out of his backpack and unlocked the screen. He smiled when he saw the picture of Ayji cutely posing with a victory sign. He opened the phone app and called number one on his speed dial, which happened to be Ayji.
She didn't answer on the first dial, so he tried again, knowing that she would pick up eventually.
"Hello?" a groggy voice was heard from his phone.
Woohyun smiled hearing her voice. "Are you sleeping?"
"...No."
He chuckled at her response. "Are you studying then?"
"...No."
He shook his head. "Well, I know you fell asleep studying. But sleep is more important than any grade, alright? I'm sure you'll do amazing. So go wash your face and sleep."
Ayji was too tired to complain, so she did as he told her to. Woohyun chuckled when he heard the sound of her brushing her teeth and moving about, because the sound heard from his phone was similar to the crushing of a bag of chips. She's probably too tired to notice that she still has her phone against her ear, he thought. And she wonders why I think she's cute. He chuckled with the thought and remained silent until he heard her speak again.
"Oh, I didn't hang up," Ayji said.
"Yeah, you didn't. It's okay. Now go sleep, Ayji ah," he said softly.
More rustling sounds were heard, and Woohyun knew that she was getting in her bed and plugging her phone into its charger.
"I'm going to sleep now. Goodnight, Oppa," Ayji said, getting quieter with every word she spoke.
"I'll come to your house earlier than usual tomorrow morning. We can study together. Dream of me tonight, alright?" he said affectionately.
"Eung..." Ayji said, her voice barely audible as she drifted off into a deep slumber.
Woohyun sat in his chair, listening. He didn't know why, but he wanted to make sure she was sleeping well. When he heard her deep breaths, he knew she had finally fallen asleep.
"I love you, Shin Ayji," he said before hanging up and going back to read his textbook.
The next day, Ayji's phone alarm woke her up at 6AM. She turned it off and lay in her bed before getting up five minutes later. She sleepily washed her face and got ready to go to school. She wore her uniform and walked over to her backpack before realizing something. The history finals are today! She quickly sat down in her chair and began to read everything in lightning speed.
After thirty minutes of studying (or cramming), the doorbell rang. With the history textbook in her hand, she carefully walked downstairs and to the front door. She opened it without looking up from her textbook.
Woohyun stepped in and shut the door. He laughed when he saw her studying and not even taking notice that he had arrived.
"Ayji, what would you have done if I was some theif and I rang the doorbell like that? You can't just pay no attention to who's at the door," Woohyun lightly scolded.
"What if you are a theif," she said without really paying attention to what he was saying.
"Maybe I am," Woohyun said as
