Jinki was busy arranging his belongings in his home. He had recently moved to a new apartment because he was relocated to a new area for work. He was offered a higher level job as a supervisor for a branch of the current company he was working at. The branch was located in the center of Seoul, while the previous company he worked at was located near the bottom of Seoul.
This new job offer gave him twice the salary he received before, and no sane man would reject this offer. It also gave him an opportunity to move away from all the memories of her. Everywhere he went, he was helplessly reminded of the good memories he had. When he went to the grocery store, the park, cafes, and restaurants, he would always go with her. But now, the good memories were no more. They were no more.
He didn't resent his ex-wife though. After a year of being married, they realized that they weren't meant for each other. They ended up bickering and fighting over small, stupid things. They realized they had no similar interests, and it was soon impossible to hold long conversations. So they mutually decided to get a divorce.
Jinki shook his heads of all memories and thoughts. He had moved to a new home and agreed to the new job offer to forget the past, not reminisce over it. With determination, he managed to finish cleaning up and arranging all the furniture in their respective place. When he finished, he looked around with a content sigh. The living room was nice and tidy, and so was his room. It was the perfect way to get a fresh start on things. On life.
He looked at the clock that was hanging over his television and noticed that it was already eight o'clock. It was time for him to be heading to work.
He entered his room and changed into a loose white button up with beige khakis held up by a caramel colored belt. He grabbed his briefcase, put on his dark brown oxfords, and left his apartment. He took the elevator down to the garage level and found his car. Starting the engine, he then took off to where the company building was located. It wasn't too far from his apartment, which was why moving was such an ideal choice.
When he arrived, he slightly fixed his button up shirt collar and straightened out the crinkles in his shirt before entering. He wanted to make a good impression on his first day of the job. Although he was simply raised to a higher level, being a supervisor instead of just one who works at the computer, he still wanted to be as professional as he could.
"You must be the new supervisor!" a middle aged woman said with a warm smile. "I'm Hyunjung, and I'm the owner of this company. I asked your previous boss to recommend me his best worker for this job. If you need anything, here's my business card." She handed him her name card. "I'll be your new boss from now on."
"Ah, yes." He bowed ninety degrees. "I'm Lee Jinki. I will do my best at this job. Thank you for this offer!" he said in a professional tone.
He was then motioned to his new office. It was in a large room with at least ten other desks with workers occupying them. They were all busy designing a new product and working on marketing tactics. Wanting to make a first impression and get to know the people he would be working with from now on, he went around and introduced himself to everyone. Once done, he sat down on his new desk. He organized his area with an excited feeling inside of him.
"Sorry for being late," a voice said as a figure bowed in front of him.
"Oh, it's fine. Yo
