It was Kris' nineteenth birthday, and he invited all of his closest friends to a restaurant.
"Yo, happy birthday, man!" Tao said. He handed him a present.
"Thanks," Kris said.
The other five came in and each handed their present to Kris. They all sat down and talked as they waited for the last person to come. Ten minutes later, a girl came running in.
"Sorry I'm late, Kris! There was traffic," Jungae said. She took out a wrapped present and handed it to him. "Happy birthday."
Kris smiled. Just seeing her here made him a hundred times happier.
Now that all seven was here, they were able to order. After eating their fill, Jungae asked the waiters to bring a cake. They sang the birthday song loudly and obnoxiously, much to the embarassment of Kris. Even though they never failed to bring him embarassment, he was still thankful for who they were. They were, after all, his closest friends since childhood, and he wouldn't trade their dorkiness for anything.
"Make a wish!" Jungae encouraged.
Kris looked around and smiled. He closed his eyes and made a wish in secret. I wish all seven of us can stay together like this forever. He opened his eyes and blew out the candles.
The six cheered, and they suggested for Kris to open the presents.
He got a watch, a wallet, a giftcard to his favorite clothing store, a tie, another giftcard to his favorite drink store, and his favorite cologne. He smiled, not because of the gift, but because of their thoughtfulness. They each knew what he needed and wanted the most at the time, and they got him the perfect gifts.
"Thank you guys," he said genuinely as he showed his broad smile.
"No problem. What should we do now?" Xiumin asked.
"Let's watch a movie!" Luhan suggested.
Tao and Lay liked that idea. "We should!"
"I heard that there was this fun action movie," Jungae said.
"The one called 'Run'?" Chen asked. Jungae nodded, confirming that was the one she was talking about.
"Let's go then," Kris said. They called for the waiter to bring the check, which a couple of the guys pitched in and paid for, since it was another 'gift' to Kris.
Then, the seven walked to the nearest movie theater and watched the movie. Two hours later, it ended, and they all decided to separate.
"I'm going to go with Jungae today," Kris said. He then began to walk her home. As they were walking, Kris had a lot of thoughts and worries circulating his head.
The truth was, he was planning to confess to Jungae. He was in love with her ever since he was a little kid, and he wanted to confess his true feelings on this special day of his.
They passed by a shop that sold ice cream, which Kris offered to buy, knowing that Jungae loved ice cream. They then continued walking as they ate their ice cream. When they finished eating their own ice cream, Kris turned to Jungae and stopped walking.
"What's wrong, Kris? Do I have something on my face?" Jungae asked, rubbing her face to get rid of any inexistant stains.
Kris gently pulled her hands away from her face and brought them to her side. "There's nothing there."
"Oh," Jungae looked relieved. "Then what's wrong?"
Kris silently looked at her for a bit before speaking up. "Jungae. How long have we known each other?"
"Since we were eight?" Jungae answered, confused by his sudden question.
"You're right. We've known each other basically most of our lives. You've always thought of me as a best friend...but I've never seen you as one," Kris said.
Jungae stared at him. "Are you dumping me as a best friend?" She pretended to be offended.
Kris sighed. "No, it's not that. When I mean I haven't seen you as a friend, I mean I see you as someone more than just a friend. I..I've been in love with you for all these years. And nothing will make me more happier if you accept my feelings on my birthday."
Jungae looked at him in shock. "Then would you be truly happy?"
Kris nodded. "I would."
Jungae began to shake as if she was shivering from the cold. "N-no, then I can't accept your feelings, no matter how much I want to." Jungae looked away, ashamed of her words.
It was Kris' turn to be confused. "Why can't you accept me? Is it because you don't like me? Do you like someone else?" he asked in desperation.
Jungae shook her head. "I-it's not that. I..i feel the same way. But I can't acc
