Brian was in his studio, racking his brain in attempt to make a new song. As a pretty well-known composer, there was always high expectations for him, and it was very difficult to meet them at times. People all around Korea loved hearing his songs, which typically had a pretty melody with great lyrics. A lot of people admired him and respected him for his ability to convey relationships in such a lyrical, yet relatable way in his songs. He made those types of songs that made anyone feel in a good mood just by listening to them, and since they were catchy too they often made it to the top charts, no matter who the singer was.

His next project was to create a song for a new solo singer named Jae, and as he was a talented soloist, there was even more pressure to create a song that would top the charts.

However, Brian was stuck. He would normally easily create a song by taking some inspiration from movies or books, but he had no ideas. He knew he wanted something different, but as someone who never really had any experience in a relationship, he was running out of ideas.

He messed up his hair in frustration and let out a loud groan. He let himself slide into a slouching position as he blankly stared up at the ceiling. It was times like this when he felt hopeless that one individual came into his head. I haven't seen her for a week, he thought.

Just then, as if the heavens answered his prayers, he heard his doorbell ring. He had a feeling he knew who was on the other side of the door, and he knew exactly why they came. He knew that it was Ahn Soojung.

Soojung was one of the few high school friends he still kept in contact with, as the others grew too busy with university. As he decided that composing music was what he wanted to do, he decided to take a few years off before enrolling into a university well-known for music. He mainly kept to himself though, as his fellow students created a barrier since he was already a famous composer.

After letting out a sigh, he got up and opened the door, revealing Soojung. She was sniffling and her eyes were puffy from crying. When the door opened, she looked up at him.

"Is it him again?" Brian asked.

Soojung nodded. "Can I come in?"

Brian simply opened the door wider, motioning her to come in. He closed the door behind her and joined her on the small couch in his living room. He pulled out the box of tissues from the side table and handed it to her with a tub of ice cream that he always had ready for her in the freezer.

Soojung gratefully took them from her and began to help herself to some ice cream. Spoon after spoon she kept eating with that blank expression on her face. After a few minutes of silence, she let out a sigh.

"It was that girl again from his work," Soojung started. "He promised me he wouldn't interact with her anymore after I found out that she was hitting on him constantly, but my friend saw him at the theater with her today. Just earlier today, I asked him if he wanted to watch that new movie that he was waiting for, but he told me he was too busy with work he had to catch up on."

"But he was watching it with her?" Brian asked as anger started to boil inside of him.

Soojung nodded before falling into another round of sobbing.

Brian sighed loudly. He never liked Soojung's boyfriend, but he never had the heart to tell her to break up with him. He knew how much Soojung liked this guy. His intuition told him that her boyfriend was cheating on her, but seeing how devastated Soojung looked, he couldn't mention it. He knew that this jerk would come back to Soojung and asked for forgiveness in just a few days, and that they would make up after that. He sighed again in frustration and began to comfort his friend.

Brian spent the next few hours calmly comforting his sobbing friend and listening to how sad she felt after various incidents with her boyfriend. He was there, giving her a shoulder to lean on as she was filled with sadness. And soon, once Soojung finally calmed down, he decided to walk her home because it was late. After sending her in, he began to walk back home.

Brian knew that she was so sad with the terrible way her boyfriend was treating her, but he couldn't help but feel sad (and angry) himself.

For all these years, he liked her. A lot. But because he liked her a lot, her happiness meant so much more to him than his own feelings, so he kept his feelings hidden from her. All this time, he continued to support her and be there whenever she needed him. And considering her boyfriend was a total jerk even after being in a relationship with Soojung for so long, she needed Brian's shoulder to cry on very often.

Brian sighed and kicked a rock that was on the road in frustration. He was a little frustrated with the way she was clinging onto this jerk that probably already lost interest with her because of that chic at work. He was angry because in his eyes, Soojung deserved a million times better. She was always so considerate towards others, and there were a ton of times where she would have to sacrifice so much for this jerk of a boyfriend. And out of her relationship with him, it appeared to Brian that she gained nothing out of it.

He finally reached his apartment and entered. He tried to think of what he was doing last when Soojung came, and he groaned in realization that he got no work done
