"Done!" Mirae victoriously yelled as she dropped the mop she used to clean the gym with and wiped the sweat off of her forehead. She had been caught talking with her friends in class, and being the strict teacher she was, Mrs. Yi had given them detention. And detention in this school wasn't simply staying in class for an extra hour. The only way to get rid of the 'detention' stamp on your personal records was to do work for the school. That was why she was cleaning the large gym.

She wasn't alone though. She was assigned to clean the gym with the quiet, mysterious boy named Kim Myungsoo. He didn't seem to talk a lot, and everyone just thought that being ignorant was his personality. For four hours straight on this Friday night, the two had silently cleaned the floors, equipment, windows, and everything else in this gym. It was quite a hard job, but at least it was better than cleaning the toilet or something.

Mirae picked up the mop from the ground and excitedly ran over to supply closet and put the mop away. Myungsoo quietly watched her be all excited and the side of his lip pulled upwards. Just a tinsy bit. He followed her and put his own mop away.

Mirae skipped over to where her backpack was and bent down to get it. "I'm going home!" she yelled happily. She put on her backpack and skipped over to the gym door as Myungsoo was walking over to get his own backpack.

"I'm going home~ I'm going home~ I'm going ho-" her happy singing was stopped when she tried to pull open the door. She pulled it once. Twice. Three times. It would not budge.

Sensing that something was wrong, Myungsoo came over and tried to open the door himself. But nothing happened.

"Oh no! We're locked here!" Mirae panicked. "I heard that the janitors lock the doors before they leave, and they don't come back until early dawn!"

A worried look was in Myungsoo's eyes as well.

Mirae sighed. "I guess we're stuck here for the night. She sadly walked away from the door to the furthest wall from the door and sat on the ground against it. She looked around. She noticed right then that the lights were dim. Why did I never see the lights dim? I would've known that the doors were locked then. Now I'm kind of scared.. Another hopeless sigh came out of her lips.

Quietly, Myungsoo came over by her side. He sat a meter away from her, though, to give her some space.

Two hours passed, and the entire time, Mirae had decided to do her homework to get her mind off how scary this place was. Myungsoo decided to do that as well.

Mirae, after she had finished all her history and science homework, began to work on math. From question one, though, she got stuck.

She cleared before speaking out. "Myungsoo sshi, do you mind helping me?"

Without looking up from his own homework, he said one word. "Math?"

"Yes!" Mirae said. He nodded and motioned for her to come closer. She scooched over next to Myungsoo and showed him the problem.

"Find this first," he said. She did as she was told. Then she showed him what see got. "Then do this." And throughout the problem, Myungsoo guided her through it so she would be able to do it on her own next time.

"Is this the answer?" Mirae asked after she had done everything he told her to do.

Myungsoo nodded. "Good job. Now do the next one."

She did it but made a few mistakes along the way, which led her to get an incorrect answer. He pointed out her mistakes and helped her until eventually, she was able to solve the problem on her own.
