KpopComposed: Hi there :) Well, I guess I'll just start.
I don't know if anyone else has been thinking about this...but...I'll just explain:
I'm a junior in high school. It's the time where I should be getting ready for college and stuff. I admit that I'm actually growing up, you know...like I'm not gomna be a teenager anymore.
But as I do grow up, I begin to realize things. I've been a K-Pop for years -ever since Super Junior's debut (basically 6-8 years now) - and just a while ago, there was an oppurtunity for me to go audition.
Being me, I always took the oppurtunity to audition. But now, I just don't feel the passion for it. I can barely stand listening to the newest K-Pop songs...and sometimes, I just get plain bored of it.
To be honest, and sorry if I sound like a total weirdo but, I'm really afraid of losing my K-Pop essence. Because I've been with it for so long (even with HOT, SES, and Shinhwa), my life basically is composed of K-Pop, literally. Everything in my life has been motivated by K-Pop!
I don't want to suddenly not love K-Pop because it made me, my likes and dislikes, hobbies, and everything.
I just feel lost and scared. Help.
Friend: Dear KpopComposed,
I can actually relate to you when saying that kpop has long a bit of its essence for me as well. I believe it was one of those things whose love wasn’t meant to last forever (insert Girl’s Day’s “Nothing Lasts Forever” xD), but could be cherished and if you put in enough determination, you could get back to it oneday(:
If you have been out of kpop for a while. Think of it as your little break. Sometimes it’s good to take a break from things so that once you get back into it, all of those comebacks and new rookies groups will be worth more in looking forward to them. If you haven’t heard some of the (sort of) new rookies groups like 100% (under the same label as Teen Top), C-Clown, or AOA, I highly recommend them(: Some groups have also had some pretty amazing comebacks like DBSK, So Nyuh Shi Dae, Secret, and EXID (and so many more but I’m trying to restrain my kpop obsession LOL). Point is, if you just spare a good ten minutes of your life to go on YouTube and check out their new MVs, you might find it easy to get back in a into the kpop world. If finding out the most recent comebacks or debuts is hard to keep up for you, subscribe to the kpop artists YouTube channel or follow the news on AllKpop.com(:
If you feel like you really lost all interest in it, then I believe it’s a bitter-sweet ending. I don’t mean to close off all kpop, but if you don’t feel like catching up to the newest groups and songs then it’s ok. You can still reminisce on the kpop legends of the past(: Just because kpop was something that shaped you to who you are today, doesn’t necessarily mean that it has to shape you to who you will be in the future or from this point onward.
Don’t be afraid to let go of kpop because in all honestly – you aren’t. You’re simply moving on but all those years of memorizing all of the Super Junior members, going to the auditions, or hearing every comeback isn’t disappearing. It’ll remain with you (I mean come on, those songs are pretty catchy. I don’t think you can forget them even if you tried xP).
Sorry it took so logn to reply KpopComposed >_< Hope you had a good Christmas and have a Happy New Year(:
