For a heart that wanders daily

perceives love suddenly

The girl leaning, her hands gripping the edge of the table, was staring at her laptop screen. It bore the picture of one man, her co-guardian, former housemate, most importantly her suddenly realised first love.

“Out of all the men I’ve hung out with I end up falling for you?!” She pointed at the picture.

“Why are you increasing my heart beat now?” She frowned.

Moving to the next picture in her collection she stared at the man wearing a black suit with black hair posing for the drama Protect the Boss. Groaning in frustration she jumped onto her bed.

“I need to get over him. This isn’t healthy. I can’t be acting like a normal fan girl falling for the celebrity living with her. This is not good. Not good for Sophie.” She hit her forehead then clenched her right hand to hit her pacing heart.

While the girl is struggling, the man is having the time of his life. Both his bandmates have completed their mandatory enlistment. His girlfriend showered him with kisses the moment he arrived home. They’ve been going out on numerous dates. The once threatened girlfriend is now over the moon that her relationship is now back on track.

Kim Jaejoong, though he misses Reya surprisingly more than he misses Sophie buries his feelings deep within him and focuses on his girlfriend, the one he is in love with. Every time he speaks of Heyri to her, he makes sure not to talk of the other girl who is strangely affecting him in ways he could not imagine. There have been nights when he’d wake up to simply look their photographs together.

“Why don’t you just tell him that you like him Ray” Laura sat beside her on the rooftop

“Yeah, let me just call that man and tell him ‘Hey Jae call this rotten timing but I realised that I’m in love with you the moment you stepped foot on the goddarn plane’” Reya spoke with the usual amount of sarcasm filled in her voice.

Signing she hugged her knees “I can’t L. This is not right. I would have if it wasn’t for Sophie. She needs the both of us. If I confess it is going to get awkward. She finally likes him. I can’t spoil it.”  

She pressed her forehead on her knees trying to compose herself. Reya was breaking down, unable to control the emotions she feels whenever she thinks of him. She has never yearned for someone’s attention and now that she finally has, she yearns for a man who doesn’t belong in her world, who is far away, worse he is someone who will never see her in the same way as she does.

Letting out a laugh “I waited for 22 years to fall in love with Kim Jaejoong?” She shook her head in disbelief.

No matter how bratty Reya is Laura knows that she never takes rash decisions and that she thinks through every possible detail before deciding anything. She knew what the girl was thinking but tried to put some sense into her head because she and the whole neighbourhood liked the two of them together.

“Ray, I’ve seen the way you two interact. He is attracted to you too.”

“He treats me like a child. He calls me a kid. What friggin romantic attraction is in here?” The younger girl bit back.

“Ray, this is your first love. It’ll be hard”

“I’ll get over him dammit. He’s in the other end of the world. He won’t be touching me, holding me close anymore. I will have to only make sure to not go crazy whenever I talk to him.”

It started with Reya extend her working hours, later working overnight every other day. Reya comes back home in the morning only to fall asleep. Laura struggled to put the child to sleep. She waits until Reya comes home. If she doesn’t, Sophie cries to sleep. It hurt Reya but she couldn’t come home, especially when home reminds her about Jaejoong. There were nights when she hears his voice and it drove her crazy. Reya tugs onto Ajmaal’s sleeve, hesitating to go home. She hated to go home so much that she spends her nights at his place.

Sophie, knowing that Reya wouldn’t come home again, called Jaejoong to tell on her.

“I want Ray”

“What?”

“I want Ray.”
