Jaejoong POV

I landed in New York at around noon. We actually hid the actual time I leave Korea because I didn’t want to be followed in America. Nathan specifically told me that Reya’a name should not be mentioned anywhere. So everyone thinks that the other two guardians are Nathan and his girlfriend. Because of my ticketing issue, I missed the mass that was conducted for the first month death anniversary of the couple. When I got out of customs, I saw Nathan and Laura, his girlfriend, waiting for me.

“Welcome back hyung” He hugged me. “Let me take the luggage.”

He pulled it from my hold ignoring my protest and we headed home.

It seems that Reya got a job in some IT firm in New York. So I couldn’t see her. I was giving the same room I used before, yes Reya’s room. After having a much needed wash I went downstairs.

“Mr. Jaejoong, would you like some juice?” Laura asked. She doesn’t seem to know Korean.

“Yes please. And call me Jaejoong or Jae.” Yes, I brushed up my basics in English. Don’t wanna depend on Reya completely.

Smiling, she served me a glass and some biscuits and cake. She seems to be a very nice girl, the same age as Nathan. They look really good together. I first thought Reya and Nathan are a couple; they actually look really good together too. Nathan had gone to pick up Heyri so I started talking with Laura to kill time. She’s an elementary teacher and works at a restaurant in the evenings. Apparently she first saw Nathan dancing with Reya at University.

“She dances?”

“Yep. But she’s more of a tennis player.” Tennis? Did not think that.. “When Nate and Ray dance, it’s just perfection. They’re that good together.” Smiling she continued “First I thought I had no chance with him coz of Ray, but one day Ray came to me and directly asked whether I liked him.”

“Really?!” I sat up straight. She nodded, her smile getting bigger as she spoke

“Apparently I was very obvious and she asked me to ask him out because he’s a dense dumb nut. Yep. Those were her exact words.”

“Dense dumb nut?” I had to verify. My English is still improving.  

“Yeah, she’s very blunt. Hates to hide what she feels. If it wasn’t for her, I would have never got Nathan. He’s very dense when it comes to love.”  I laughed along with her.

At that time the door opened, revealing a smiling Heyri. Looking at that cute girl, all my tiredness disappeared. I stood up looking at her. She stopped on her tracks. Nathan nudged her and she came towards me. I scooted to her level

“Welcome back Ajushi.” She almost smiled… Almost…

“Anyeong Heyri-ah. How was school?”

“Good.”

She then removed her bag and gave it to me. I held it, not knowing what to do with it. She came forward, opened the zip and took a small, wrapped box out. Later taking the bag from my grasp, she gave the box to me.

“This is for you for making cake for Ray.” And she ran upstairs.
