He was running. Running as fast as his legs could take him. Breathing hard, it’d been hours. He growled at every sound that came too close. A glint in his eyes, they reflected the round silver moon. He kept running.
Still moving he lifted his head slightly, letting the cool rush of wind caress his face.
Then it hit him. A sweet, alluring smell. It was like nothing he’d ever encountered. Growling he veered off course leaving his pack mate in his dust.
He was too captivated to think clearly. To remember the alpha’s number one rule: Never venture out alone.
Following the delicious scent, he came upon a big pond with a little waterfall. It was beautiful with lush greenery, and jutting boulders. The moonlight reflected off the water making it almost seem like the quarantined area had its own sunlight.
This was definitely where the scent was coming from. But what was it coming off of he thought.
He looked around, slowly padding up to the water’s edge. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Was he just smelling flowers? Impossible. He may have had a good nose, but there is no way a flower could have given off such a sent to how far away he was when he originally caught a whiff.
He sat on his haunches still enveloped by the sweetness. It was off though. Why? He realized it was because the scent had dulled. Had whatever it been left?
