Our Journey : Part III

A Day With Miyawaki Family

--

“Permanent contract?”

Eunbi bit her lips as she nodded her head to the screen. The family are finally having their video call session today, but it’s about time for the older kids to go to bed and the younger kids to get their breakfast, leaving the parents to have a talk.

“Ms. Jung called me to her office yesterday after my last performance, saying that she’s expecting me to stay and perform here.”

Eunbi watched Sakura lean back to her seat, thinking. Eunbi knew she should have declined the offer as this was supposed to be a three months project. She had a family waiting for her across the globe, but in her little heart, she wanted to accept the offer.

“Eunb, I… I don’t know.”

Eunbi couldn’t help but feel disappointed about this. Secretly, she was hoping for Sakura to support her on this. But she can’t be selfish. Once again, she had kids, and she has a wife. She’s not an actress who’s single and has no attachment. She had a family.

“I… I know. I should have declined it, right?”

Eunbi saw Sakura staring at her before she lowered her gaze, afraid for Sakura to see through her.

“... But you’re considering this, right?”

Eunbi hummed. Of course she knew. Of course Sakura knew about her considering this offer without thinking that Yujin and Wonyoung were here with her.

“This is one of a lifetime offer, Kkura. I can’t just... “

Eunbi heard Sakura sighed.

“Did she give you time to think?”

Eunbi nodded her head, making Sakura nodded as well.

“I want you to think more about this offer, okay? Think about our family as well. And I… I will also think about this.”

Eunbi looks up from her keyboard and stares at her wife from the screen. She was not expecting Sakura to actually want to think about this.

“Baby…”

Sakura smiles at the screen.

“Like I said, I’ll support your dream Eun. But we need to think about this carefully now since Nako and Hiichan are in school. We need to think about Yuding and Wonnie as well since they're gonna start elementary as well.”

Eunbi nodded and couldn’t help but stare at her wife in so much love and adoration. The way Sakura thinks not only about her dream, their kids' future are so heartwarming. But then Eunbi frowned.

What about Sakura?

“Baby?”

Sakura hummed.

“What about you?”

Sakura cocked her brows up.

“What about me?”

Eunbi sighed. Of course. It’s a bad habit of Sakura who always put her family above everything, even herself. She remembers that one time when Hitomi and Wonyoung got sick and Sakura was in Japan, she flew back to Korea to help Eunbi take care of her kids. This resulted in her getting scolded by the Japan branch. And that one time where Sakura almost got hit by a car because she went everywhere to find a gift for Yujin, when she herself was sick.

“Kkura, honey-”

“Eun, this is my dream. To take care of my family needs. Don’t worry about my jobs, I can easily work on my job anywhere I want. I’m the boss now, remember?”

Sakura grinned at the screen, making Eunbi sighed blissfully.

“You’re not fair.”

Sakura blinked.

“Why is that?”

Eunbi smiled at the screen and caressed the monitor, as if she’s caressing Sakura right now.

“You make me miss you and love you even more. Not fair.”

Sakura grins wider, and moves her eyebrows up and down.

“I know you must be missing our y ti-”

“Good night.”

“Wait baby! I’m so-”

Eunbi turned off the call with a smile on her face. She misses joking around with that silly wife of hers. Not long after that, she got a message from Sakura. She attached a picture of herself, blowing a kiss to the camera.

I hope you have a good day, Mrs. Miyawaki.

P.S I can’t wait to have a y time with you.

...

“New York?”

Sakura nodded as she watched Nako and Hitomi in front of her. So far, Hitomi looks calm, but Nako looks restless. Sakura understands though. This is not the first time for Nako to move school or country, but New York is a different thing from Japan and Korea. Aside from language, their systems were completely different. Unlike her siblings, Nako was probably old enough to know the difference.

“Do we have to?”

Sakura fixed her posture. Hitomi now turned her head to her older sister.

“But unnie, we’ll be together with mommy, Ding and Wonnie. Don’t you want that?”

Nako sighed and lowered her gaze. Sakura saw her playing with her foot.

“Look, I completely understand if you don’t want to move-”

“But this is mom’s dream.”

Of all the kids, Nako was probably the only one who knew about Eunbi’s journey as a theater actress. Aside from being the oldest, Nako also had a fair share growing up in the theater with Eunbi. Sakura smiles at the concerned daughter. She reached Nako’s hand and caressed it softly.

“Exactly. This is mommy’s dream, not yours. If you don't want to go, we can think of another way. I can stay here and send Hii there, or maybe your mom will probably send the kids here. We can think of anything, but I want to know about what you think too. And it applies to you as well, Hiichan.”

Now both kids lowered their heads, thinking. Sakura actually feels bad for giving them pressure to think, but she also doesn't want her kids to feel like their opinion is not valid. She wants the best for her family. Sakura then worked her brain to full capacity, thinking about what’s best for her family, until she had an idea.

“How about we gave them a surprise visit? That way, we can think about the best possible outcome for all of us, right?”

Both Nako and Hitomi raised their heads with twinkled eyes.

“We’re going to New York?”

Sakura nodded and grinned.

“It’s been awhile we seen each other, and your mom probably needs a break anyway. So, how is it? Who’s ready for early vacation?!”

““Me!!””

--

“Mommy looks soooo pretty!!”

Nako and Hitomi nodded their heads as they were looking at the pictures of Eunbi’s last performance. Eunbi looks extremely gorgeous with a shoulder cut dress, and her blonde short hair really complemented the dress really well. Sakura was found not dead after Eunbi sent her a pictorial before.

“Mom looks so y! As expected of our mommy!”

Hitomi’s statement earned an earnest nod from her younger sibling across the monitor. Wonyoung suddenly played with the hem of her dress.

“Wonnie miss unnies…”

Nako and Hitomi blinked their eyes. Yujin, who was sitting beside Wonyoung, also lowered her head.

“I wanna play with you two.”

Nako and Hitomi, who planned a secret trip to New York with their mama, just smile.

“Don’t worry, we’ll see each other soo- HMPH!”

Nako immediately clasped her hand on Hitomi’s mouth as the younger one almost spilled their secret plan. Yujin and Wonyoung staring at their older sisters curiously.

“Nako unnie, why did you head-locking Hii unnie?”

Nako grinned sheepishly before she sent a glare to Hitomi, who immediately chuckled nervously.

“Nothing, nothing. Hiichan love to be hugged like that these days.”

Hitomi nodded her head.

“Anyway, you guys better go to bed! It’s almost your bedtime.”

Nako saw her sisters pouted, making her miss them even more and couldn’t wait to hug them both and play with those chubby cheeks.

“Okay then, good night unnies! Don’t forget to meet us in the dream!!!!”

Nako and Hitomi waved to their younger siblings before turning off the camera. Both then getting ready to school, feeling giddy as they're gonna fly to New York in five days. Nako then turned her head to Hitomi, who was putting her stuff on her bag.

“Hiichan, you’re a little hot. Did you catch a cold?”

Hitomi brought her hand to her neck and forehead before she shook her head.

“I’m fine. It’s hot outside, no way we catch a cold in this weather.”

“Yeap, it’s chicken pox.”

Sakura looks apologetically at her daughters who were laying down on their bed. Turns out, Hitomi was not only catching a cold, but also chicken pox. It was highly spread in the school and now, Nako also got one.

“But what about New York…?”

Nako asked anyway, even though she knew there’s no way her mama would let them go with chicken pox. Sakura shakes her head.

“Sorry kids, we might gonna wait until you guys recover.”

Hitomi pouted.

“But mama, what about the contract? You need to talk about it with mommy still.”

Sakura raised her brow.

“And leave you two here? Your mom will skin me alive.”

Nako rolled her eyes at Sakura, who was shivering in fear.

“What about Sashiko? She can take care of us.”

Sakura glared cutely at Nako, who called her older sister without honorific.

“First, it’s aunt Rino for you. Second, she might be busy.”

Nako crossed her arms in her bed.

“First, she’s the one who told me to call her Sashiko. Second, you won’t know until you call her.”

Sakura knew she couldn't outsmart Nako. And the little devil knew she’s winning when Sakura fished out her phone from her pocket, making Nako and Hitomi giggle. After her phone call to Sasshi, Sakura sighed and turned her head to her daughters.

“Okay, what do you want from New York?”

“MOMMYYY!!!”

Eunbi jolted from her bed when she heard Wonyoung’s screams. She rushed to her daughters room and found Yujin already in Wonyoung’s bed, cradling her younger sister in her arms before Eunbi scooped her daughters into her arms.

“Shh… Shhh… mommy is here baby.”

Wonyoung hid her face on the crook of Eunbi’s neck, trying to calm herself with Eunbi’s scent while Yujin stared sleepily at her younger sister with her head resting on Eunbi’s shoulder.

“What happened baby? Did you have a nightmare?”

She felt Wonyoung nodded before she rubbed her back softly. Wonyoung then lifts her head and rests it on Eunbi’s shoulder.

“Wonnie miss mama…”

Eunbi sighed in relief. She was actually worried that Wonyoung got a worser nightmare, turns out she just missed Sakura.

“Shh.. I know baby. Mommy miss mama too, and your sisters. We call them first thing in the morning okay?”

Eunbi felt a nod from Wonyoung's side, and a drool from Yujin’s side. Yujin must have fallen asleep while waiting for Wonyoung to calm down. Eunbi kissed Wonyoung’s head.

“Want to sleep with mommy tonight?”

“BREAKING NEWS.
