Wedding

You Make Me A Good Man

(Three days later)

“Junnie I can’t find our gift for Sunggyu and Woohyun! What do I do?” Hyunseung wailed.

“I thought you put it in your bag already!”

“It’s not- Oh. Ok!”

Junhyung chuckled and shook his head, making sure he had brought everything that he was in charge of bringing – a camera, their invitation cards, and snacks for Hyunseung. There was still a little over a half hour before the couple had to leave the house, but Hyunseung was panicking and worrying that he didn’t have everything. The funny thing was, Hyunseung only needed to bring the gift and himself.

Walking into their bedroom, Junhyung was just slightly shocked to see Hyunseung still crying. The elder had cried over every little thing recently, from how his pants wouldn’t fit to how Junhyung sometimes laughed at him for being silly. Yes, it was that serious. Sometimes Hyunseung would be angry all of a sudden, but most times he would just cry. So really, it came as no surprise that Hyunseung was crying, yet again, about something.

“What’s wrong, Seung?”

Hyunseung sniffled and looked up at his boyfriend, and Junhyung felt that Hyunseung looked amazing. The elder was dressed in a slightly oversized white V-neck and wore a blazer over it. He was also wearing one of his looser jeans that he could still fit somewhat comfortably into. It was simple, but Hyunseung looked good in it. Junhyung, too, was wearing pretty much the exact same outfit. Hyunseung had wanted to match and who was Junhyung to deny him that?

“Junnie are you listening to me?”

Snapping out of his trance, Junhyung smiled sheepishly and shook his head. “I was saying that our gift seems lacking,” Hyunseung repeated, pouting sadly. Junhyung and he had bought them a set of skincare products, because Hyunseung knew how much the two cared about their skin. Still, it just felt lacking and Hyunseung didn’t like the feeling.

“Doojoon and Yoseob aren’t even getting them anything,” Junhyung pointed out. “And Gikwang and Dongwoon got them condoms. I don’t even get why anyone would do that,” Junhyung sighed exasperatedly. The two youngest employees were really strange at times. Woohyun and Sunggyu were getting married already – surely it would be fine if Sunggyu got pregnant. “I think our present beats theirs by a landslide,” Junhyung said honestly.

Hyunseung couldn’t help but laugh at the thought of Sunggyu and Woohyun receiving condoms as a wedding gift. “Ok, fine, maybe our present isn’t that bad,” he agreed, grinning at Junhyung brightly. “I don’t know what I’d do without you!”

Junhyung couldn’t help but wince as those words registered in his mind. Sometimes it was painful to see that Hyunseung was so oblivious, even if it was exactly how Junhyung wanted it. It just made Junhyung wonder how much pain Hyunseung would be in when he left. He just hoped that Miracle would become Hyunseung’s purpose for living.

“Hopefully you won’t have to be without me,” Junhyung said in what he hoped was a teasing tone. It was getting harder and harder to say things like that without feeling some sort of heartache. His plan was backfiring badly in the sense that, no matter what, he and Hyunseung would be hurt. It was just whether it was emotional pain or physical pain. Nonetheless, Junhyung had rather him and Hyunseung suffer emotionally than lose Miracle and maybe Hyunseung as well. He was sure that, if given a choice, Hyunseung would do the same thing that he was planning.

“I hope so too,” Hyunseung replied, standing up and grabbing his bag. “Should we go get Doojoon and Seobie now?”

Junhyung shrugged and got up as well, wrapping an arm around Hyunseung’s waist as they walked out of the house. Of course, Junhyung didn’t forget to grab his own bag or Hyunseung would literally have his head.

The two headed one level down, with Junhyung trying his best to keep his mind off what would happen in three weeks. At least he knew that Hyunseung would be well-taken care of. That had been his biggest worry at first.

He glanced at Hyunseung who was visibly excited and held back a sigh. It wasn’t easy to suppress the thoughts about leaving. Also, Junhyung kept wondering if he and Hyunseung would ever have a wedding of their own, or if they just weren’t meant to be.

This is going to be a long day.

---------------------

Expectedly, the six store employees were seated together with Jungsu and Youngwoon. Heechul and Hangeng had been invited too, but they had to tend to the store and Heestory respectively, as well as take care of Heekyung. It would’ve been a hassle to bring the infant to a wedding dinner anyway.

Jungsu, now six months pregnant, could only wear Youngwoon’s t-shirt and sweatpants. There was really not much else he could wear, since he adamantly refused to buy new clothes just for this pregnancy. Jungsu just happened to be a thrifty person.

“Oh, you guys match!” Jungsu exclaimed excitedly, pointing at Junhyung and Hyunseung when they walked over to the table with Doojoon and Yoseob. Junhyung raised a brow, nodding slowly because it was pretty obvious. He and Hyunseung wear both wearing white V-necks and even their blazers were the exact same design.

Yoseob turned to the two, eyes widening in realization. “I didn’t even notice!”

“Really now?” Youngwoon asked incredulously. Yoseob pouted, not bothering to reply, and plopped down on the seat beside Dongwoon. He noticed that the younger male was wearing the charm bracelet he’d gotten just three days ago and instantly brightened up.

“Do you like the charm?” Yoseob asked eagerly.

“Would I be wearing it if I didn’t?” Dongwoon asked, chuckling at the question. Yoseob grinned.

“Glad you like it then!”

“Anyways…” Jungsu mumbled, not really wanting to bother with a hyper Yoseob. “I heard that Chul hired two new guys. Are they hardworking?” he asked curiously. Gikwang and Dongwoon shrugged, not having met the two before. They were pretty busy with school, having to get oriented with going to school again.

“They’re pretty good,” Hyunseung replied, grabbing Junhyung’s bag and pulling out a small container of cereals. There was only about a half hour till the wedding ceremony began, meaning that the wedding banquet would be in a little less than three hours, but Hyunseung wanted food and he wanted it now. Jungsu subconsciously eyed the cereal and called out to Hyunseung.

“Can I have some cereal?” Jungsu asked, almost in a pleading tone.

“Jungsu you just ate before we left,” Youngwoon pointed out.

“Are you trying to say that I’m fat?” the elder demanded. Instantly, Youngwoon shut up and let out an almost inaudible sigh. Doojoon empathised with Youngwoon completely; Yoseob had been a lot moodier than Jungsu in the past months. He knew how it felt to be the victim of a pregnant person’s wrath, and it wasn’t nice.

“Hyung, you aren’t fat,” Dongwoon assured.

Jungsu flashed the youngest a thankful smile and jabbed Youngwoon in the rib, eliciting a groan from his fiancé. “Now why can’t you be sweet like Dongwoon is?”

“Don’t argue here. Hyung, you don’t want to ruin Woohyun and Sunggyu’s wedding do you?” Hyunseung asked, munching on his cereal and handing the container over to Jungsu. Jungsu’s eyes lit up and he grabbed the container from Hyunseung immediately, eating some of the cereal and smiling satisfactorily to himself. It was as if he was never mad in the first place.

“Hyunseung!”

The abovementioned male turned around to find out who had called his name, and a smile made its way to his face when he spotted Howon and Dongwoo. The couple made their way to the table, talking to Hyunseung and Doojoon about what they’ve recently been up to. Howon kept giving Junhyung looks that the latter sighed in response to. He knew that Howon still wasn’t too happy about his plan. It wasn’t as if he was happy about it either. What choice did he have, really?

When it was about time for the ceremony to start, Dongwoo and Howon returned to their seats where Myungsoo, Sungjong and Sungyeol were. Hyunseung waved at Sungjong, grinning at his newest good friend, and the younger male waved back with a smile of his own.

Seeing this, Junhyung tried to comfort himself with the fact that at the very least, Hyunseung and Miracle would be in capable hands. He just wondered if he himself would be able to stand being away from his boyfriend and child for so long.

----------------------

The wedding ceremony was held at a church, and after the standard vows and exchange of rings, Woohyun and Sunggyu shared a short kiss. The newlywed couple then told their guests, consisting of mostly their family, close friends and a few co-workers, to quickly exit the church. Sunggyu was in charge of throwing his bouquet, something that Woohyun stubbornly insisted on, and he wanted to get it over with so that they could go to the hotel for their wedding banquet. The hotel was just a five-minute walk away, thankfully, because it was pretty darn hot in the summer.

The store employees, as well as Jungsu and Youngwoon, stood together in the midst of the crowd, each of them hoping to catch the bouquet. Well, maybe with the exception of Junhyung and maybe Doojoon. The latter felt that it was a little too soon to be getting married.

“I’m going to throw it now,” Sunggyu told the guests. He closed his eyes and tossed the bouquet towards the guests. Surprisingly, the bouquet landed right in Hyunseung’s arms. Junhyung didn’t know to laugh or cry at how ridiculous the situation was. Fate really liked to play around with him. How am I supposed to respond to this?

Hyunseung turned to look at his boyfriend, oblivious to the turmoil that the younger was in. Junhyung couldn’t bear to look at how happy Hyunseung was, because it plain hurt. It hurt that Hyunseung was expecting to be married to Junhyung soon, yet he was about to leave. Junhyung wanted to marry Hyunseung too; he was pretty sure that Hyunseung was the only one for him. But there was still the threat known as Jaewon, and Junhyung still had no idea how to deal with him. So seeing Hyunseung beaming with the bouquet with his arms really, really .

“Can you believe I caught it?” Hyunseung asked, his grin threatening to split his face in two.

From the corner of his eye, Junhyung saw Sunggyu giving him a slightly apologetic look. After all, Sunggyu knew about his plan. Woohyun, too, looked apologetic because Junhyung had three weeks left, and now Hyunseung would probably be expecting something like a proposal in the coming months, or years, and he wouldn’t get it.

Junhyung also spotted Myungsoo, Sungjong and Sungyeol standing with Howon and Dongwoo. Sungjong seemed as if he was just as conflicted as Junhyung was. Of the seven of them, Sungjong was probably understood best how Junhyung felt. He knew Junhyung best. It was pretty clear to him that Junhyung was internally debating over how he was supposed to respond, and Sungjong felt the urge to help the elder out. He didn’t want either Hyunseung or Junhyung to be hurt more than they already would be. Despite being the youngest, Sungjong was pretty mature.

Walking over to the couple, Sungjong hurriedly congratulated Hyunseung so that the elder wouldn’t be too worried about Junhyung’s lack of a reaction. “So… you caught the bouquet!” Sungjong exclaimed with as much enthusiasm as he could muster. Hyunseung smiled and nodded, but pouted right afterward.

“Junnie doesn’t seem happy though.”

Sungjong chuckled as if that assumption was crazy, nudging Junhyung as discreetly as he could. “Maybe he was just too shocked?” Sungjong offered. Hyunseung shrugged, repeating his earlier question to Junhyung. This time, Junhyung forced a smile at his boyfriend and shook his head.

“Nope, I can’t believe it at all,” Junhyung replied, blinking the tears away.

He had no idea how he was supposed to do this anymore. He really didn’t.
