Abused

You Make Me A Good Man

(A few days later)

“Yoon Doojoon, get the hell up!”

Doojoon blinked in surprise, wondering what was with the shouting from his younger boyfriend. Nonetheless, he rubbed his eyes and got up, only to be smacked in the face by a pillow. He fell back down onto bed and his eyes shot open, shooting Yoseob a look.

“We have to leave for the clinic in thirty minutes, you lazy ! Get up!” Yoseob yelled. Slightly afraid of an angry Yoseob, because he’d never had to deal with an angry Yoseob before, Doojoon nodded and scrambled off his bed, rushing to the toilet and narrowly dodging the bolster that was thrown in his direction.

As Doojoon washed up, he wondered where Hyunseung was. For the first time in a month, Hyunseung actually slept in his room in his and Doojoon’s apartment. Well, Junhyung is here too, but still. He also wondered where Yoseob’s sudden anger came from. Yoseob rarely ever got angry, especially at him. Also, it was only 9am. Was it wrong to sleep in if he didn’t have a shift till 2pm? It wasn’t as if they had to go to the clinic that early, even if they were all anxious to know what was wrong with Hyunseung and Yoseob.

Doojoon hastily rinsed his face and spat into the sink, returning to his room to get changed only to see Yoseob sleeping again. He couldn’t help but gape, because where the heck had angry Yoseob gone? He was glad that Yoseob wasn’t still pissed off at him, although he had no idea why Yoseob was pissed off at him in the first place. He grabbed a shirt and walked out to find Hyunseung and Junhyung, changing on the way.

He found the couple on the couch, Hyunseung munching on what seemed like banana dipped in strawberry syrup, and Junhyung watching the news – something about that forger who worked as a policeman. “Morning,” he said with a small yawn, finding some bread and peanut butter and making a sandwich for himself.

Hyunseung turned to his best friend with a smile. “Seobie woke you up, too?”

Doojoon raised a brow. “Too?”

Junhyung peeled his eyes off the television briefly. “Yeah. We were still exhausted from last night’s work and slept till about fifteen minutes ago. Seob tried to kick the door down while shouting at us to get up,” he explained, rolling his eyes as he spoke. Junhyung had absolutely no idea what’s gotten Yoseob in such a horrible mood, but he had a feeling he didn’t really want to know.

“He’s been a little cranky the past two days, but this is the worst yet,” Doojoon commented with a sigh. Whatever bug Yoseob caught was seriously wearing the younger boy down, and it was rather emotionally straining on Yoseob to be so sick yet not know what was wrong with him. That probably explains the outburst earlier on.

“Speaking of Seobie, where is he?” Hyunseung asked curiously. Doojoon jerked a finger in the direction of the bedrooms.

“Sleeping.”

Hyunseung gaped at his best friend, much like how Doojoon had gaped at a sleeping Yoseob. “He woke us up just so he could go back to sleep?” he asked in disbelief. Doojoon shrugged, not knowing how to respond to that.

“He mentioned leaving for the clinic in another twenty or so minutes?” he replied unsurely.

“But he’s sleeping again,” Hyunseung deadpanned.

“I’ll just wake him up in ten.”

Hyunseung nodded and turned his attention back to the news and his strawberry-flavoured banana.

“What’s with the strawberry banana?”

Doojoon earned himself another pillow to the face.

-------------------

Ten minutes later, Yoseob was woken up and he began to shout at Doojoon yet again. Doojoon was more prepared than he was before though, so he just sighed and nodded to whatever Yoseob was yelling at him for, knowing better than to argue with his sick boyfriend.

“Let’s go!” Junhyung shouted from the living room, as Yoseob was fixing his hair that had gotten messed up during his ten-minute sleep. Yoseob looked up from the mirror, and towards the bedroom door, a murderous glare on his face. Suddenly, Doojoon feared for Junhyung’s life.

“Shut the bloody hell up! I’m fixing my hair here you !” Yoseob shrieked. Doojoon’s eyes doubled in size. Since when did Seobie curse at Junhyung? Scratch that. Since when did Seobie curse at anybody?

From the living room, Junhyung frowned. Did Yoseob just… call me an ? He shared a worried look with Hyunseung. As annoyed as Hyunseung was that he had been so rudely woken up, he still cared a lot for Yoseob. Junhyung cared a lot for Yoseob too, because Yoseob had been the first to care about him since his umma died.

About a minute later, Yoseob stormed out of Doojoon’s bedroom, looking like he wanted to kill every person who existed on earth. Hyunseung was about to ask something, but Doojoon shook his head and the former shut his mouth. Junhyung had gone to wait in the car by then, so Hyunseung and Doojoon followed behind Yoseob and got into the car.

When the two best friends got to the car, they noticed that Yoseob had rode shotgun. Hyunseung had half a mind to kick Yoseob out of that seat, because it was his seat and Yoseob was sitting in it. But the other half a mind reasoned that Yoseob was in a really, really bad mood, and that he should let the younger male get what he wants for the day.

Doojoon and Hyunseung went to sit in the back, both feeling a little awkward because this was a first for them. In all the times that they had taken Junhyung’s car, Hyunseung would always be riding shotgun while Doojoon and Yoseob sat in the back. It was like an unspoken rule.

“Let’s go?” Junhyung said. Yoseob turned and shot his best friend a glare.

“Of course we’re leaving now. When else?” Yoseob asked with an edge to his voice.

“Right.”

Junhyung started the car, carefully avoiding Yoseob’s gaze because Yoseob would probably start shouting at him again and he didn’t need more of that. He had been shouted at enough to last a lifetime. Besides, Yoseob was rather vulgar when he was pissed off, because he wasn’t pissed off often. It wasn’t so much that Junhyung minded vulgarity, but he didn’t like it either.

Doojoon and Hyunseung, on the other hand, were steadfastly avoiding Yoseob’s gaze as well. “If glares could kill, we’d be dead a hundred times over,” Hyunseung whispered almost inaudibly. Doojoon nodded in agreement. None of them had seen Yoseob that angry before. He was glowering at them through the rear-view mirror of the car, for goodness sake.

Thankfully, for the two of them, anyway, the clinic wasn’t too far away. When they arrived, both Hyunseung and Doojoon got out of the car as quickly as they could. They then proceeded on to wait patiently for Yoseob and let him enter the clinic first. Well, Doojoon let Yoseob enter the clinic first while Hyunseung waited outside for Junhyung to park the car.

After they told the receptionist about their appointment, she let them in to the doctor’s office. At this, Junhyung, Doojoon and Hyunseung exhaled in relief. Thank god we didn’t have to wait, all three thought at the same time. It was rather new to have Yoseob so angry, and Doojoon and Hyunseung didn’t like it one bit. Junhyung, on the other hand, was a tad bit annoyed from being shouted at.

“Yoseob-sshi and Hyunseung-sshi, welcome back. The results for your tests are out and I’m rather pleased to say that there-”

“Can we sit down?” Yoseob cut in rather rudely. Dr. Im blinked for a moment, and nodded with a small smile. He gestured to the two chairs in front of him, which Hyunseung and Yoseob took a seat in. their respective boyfriends stood behind them and stared at Dr. Im expectantly.

“As I was saying, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the both of you,” Dr. Im continued, unfazed by Yoseob’s rudeness because who knew how many patients were worse than Yoseob?

“Then what the hell is wrong with us?” Yoseob questioned.

“You’re both pregnant. Congratulations!”

The last thing Doojoon remembered was before he was knocked out cold was how Yoseob had turned to him and slapped him on the cheek. Let’s just say that Yoseob had a ton of hidden strength in him that nobody ever knew about.

------------------------

When Doojoon came to, about fifteen minutes later, he found that they were still in the doctor’s office. Yoseob looked a little less pissed off, while Hyunseung and Junhyung looked pretty worried. Dr. Im simply looked amused by Doojoon’s plight.

“Now that he’s finally awake, I’ll just tell you what to do, how many weeks along you both are, and perhaps your due date,” Dr. Im offered. Hyunseung nodded blankly, back to his initial state of shock when he first heard that he was pregnant. Yoseob simple nodded as well, his anger slowly dissipating as he thought about how he was actually pregnant. Junhyung was just as shocked as Hyunseung was, while Doojoon was just disoriented.

The doctor led them to a separate room and told Yoseob to lie down on the bed. “This might be a little cold,” he warned right before spreading the gel over Yoseob’s abdomen. After detecting a very faint heartbeat that made Yoseob slightly emotional, Yoseob got off the bed. Hyunseung went through the same procedure and teared up as he got off the bed. They all returned to the doctor’s office after calming down and assumed their previous positions.

“Firstly, Yoseob-sshi is around six weeks along while Hyunseung-sshi is five weeks along. Morning sickness tends to start earlier in male pregnancies, because your bodies handle the pregnancy hormones differently. There really isn’t much to do about morning sickness, but perhaps some medicine or sour foods may help. Before I continue, do you both have any questions?”

Yoseob nodded, absentmindedly grabbing the calendar from Dr. Im’s table and flipping back two months. “Six weeks. Oh my god. Yoon Doojoon, you got me pregnant on the day we got together?” Yoseob screeched. Doojoon paled visibly.

Hyunseung got curious and he, too, went to look at the calendar. “Same here.”

“Wait, really?” Junhyung asked in surprise. “Wow.”

Yoseob, on the other hand, wasn’t so calm. “For the love of god, you could use protection every time except the first time? We work in a freaking convenience store! Why couldn’t you just get a damn ?” Yoseob demanded.

“You were the one who was being so forward that day! How was I supposed to know that this would happen?” Doojoon couldn’t help but retort. Yoseob gasped at his boyfriend and Doojoon realised what he just did. I’m going to be so dead for the next few months.

“Break it up, the both of you. Yoseob-sshi, getting this angry isn’t going to do any good for your baby. Now, where was I? Ah, right. Morning sickness usually stops by the end of the first trimester. Try your best to avoid coffee and definitely do not touch alcohol. I wouldn’t advise smoking either. No raw food and no moving heavy items. Eat healthily. Sleep more. No hot baths. I would advise that you don’t dye your hair because we don’t know what that can cause to both of you. That’s about it for now, and I’ll just prescribe some prenatal vitamins for you. Yoseob-sshi’s expected due date is around 18th November, while Hyunseung-sshi’s due on 27th November. Any questions?”

All four shook their heads and Dr. Im gave them a smile before escorting them out, telling Hyunseung and Yoseob to take things easy for the next seven or so months. They sat down at the waiting chairs as the nurse prepared whatever vitamins they were to take from then on, Yoseob sending Doojoon glares every now and then.

“I still can’t believe you got me pregnant on our first day as a couple,” Yoseob said.

Doojoon nodded dumbly in agreement.

“You do realise that we’re in the same boat as you, right?” Junhyung asked incredulously.

Yoseob and Doojoon turned to stare at Junhyung at the same time. “Do you think we care?”

Junhyung scoffed and turned back to Hyunseung, who was smiling giddily by now.

“We’re going to be parents,” Hyunseung whispered, a hint of excitement in his voice. Junhyung smiled and nodded, pecking Hyunseung on the forehead lightly.

“Yeah. We’re going to be parents.”

The couple’s moment was ruined when Doojoon yelped loudly.

“Yoon Doojoon, I hate you!”

“But I didn’t even do anything this time!”

Another yelp.

“You got me pregnant, you !”

---------------------

A while later, the four of them arrived at the store. It was still rather early, slightly past eleven. Dongwoon and Gikwang were working hard, and there were two other people there as well. Hyunseung raised a brow in confusion. I’ve never seen them before.

“Hyungs! Finally. This is Zhoumi hyung and that’s Henry hyung. They’re Jungsu hyung’s Chinese friends who kindly offered to help out for the day,” Gikwang introduced, standing behind his counter as the two unknown males served the customers. All four nodded slowly before Doojoon jerked his thumb towards the staff lounge.

“We’ll just talk to Jungsu hyung for a bit,” he said, already walking towards the staff lounge. On the drive to the store, Yoseob seemed to have calmed down considerably. He was still sort of pissed off at Doojoon, but everyone knew that those were the pregnancy hormones working their stuff. Junhyung knocked on the door to Jungsu’s office lightly before entering.

Jungsu looked up from the pile of documents and smiled at his employees. “Yes?”

“We’re pregnant,” Yoseob admitted bluntly. Doojoon gave his younger boyfriend a look of utter disbelief. He knew that Yoseob was still in a ty mood, but to be so straightforward wasn’t Yoseob’s style at all. Yoseob usually preferred to avoid straightforwardness, instead dragging the topic for a little longer before getting to the main point.

“Really now? I thought I was bad, but at least I’m engaged,” Jungsu said with a roll of his eyes. “And?”

“We’ll probably need to take less shifts now, too,” Hyunseung replied. “Two shifts are fine for me.”

Yoseob, however, had different thoughts. Doojoon suppressed a groan when the younger male shook his head disapprovingly. They knew that Yoseob’s apparent morning sickness was a lot worse than Hyunseung’s. There were a couple of times that the medicine wouldn’t work for him, and he ended up puking for the entire morning like before.

“I can’t take morning shifts at all. No damn way.”

Jungsu nodded nonchalantly as he continued to read through whatever he was holding.

“Alright, fine. No morning shifts for you then. Hyunseung, are you alright with morning shifts? I could always arrange for you to come in a little later,” Jungsu offered. Junhyung was about to reply for Hyunseung, wanting to say that that was a good idea, but Hyunseung shot his boyfriend a look.

“I’ll be fine, hyung. We just thought you should know. I don’t think I should really be slacking off, since you’re pregnant too and you’re doing fine,” Hyunseung said a little guiltily. He did feel bad, really, because Jungsu was more pregnant than he was, yet Jungsu would always work from nine to five like any other office job, and he had to handle some admin stuff at home, too.

Jungsu smiled at Hyunseung and Yoseob. “Congratulations, you two. We should celebrate a little.”

“There isn’t a need really,” Yoseob replied, rejecting the suggestion almost immediately. Jungsu raised a brow and Doojoon merely sighed, shaking his head morosely. It seemed that Jungsu understood what Doojoon was trying to convey, and chuckled lightly.

“It’s all up to you. You should probably find something productive to do till lunch. I’ll just be here,” Jungsu told them, waving them out of his office. Yoseob shrugged and turned around, not missing the pleading look that his boyfriend was clearly giving Jungsu.

“Yoon Doojoon…” he threatened, already hitting the elder once more. Jungsu watched on sympathetically while Hyunseung and Junhyung quickly escaped the scene, laughing about Doojoon’s misfortune of being stuck with a moody Yoseob for the months to come.

Junhyung silently thanked god because Hyunseung wasn’t as moody yet. Yet.

Hyunseung grinned. “Now aren’t you glad that I’m your boyfriend?”

Junhyung laughed and nodded.

“I was glad that you were my boyfriend a long time ago.”
