Your eyes widened as you witnessed the situation in front of you. The situation being: your brother Kyungsoo talking to a girl you recognized as the new teacher
at the school, Ms. Lin. From what you've heard, she just came out fresh from grad school and immediately got a job here which was big, considering that this was one of the most prestigious high schools in the country and for her to be able to teach permanently at such a young age means she must be pretty darn smart.

But that's not the sight that surprised you. The fact that Kyungsoo was smiling; a goofy grin plastered on his face was something you rarely saw. He was holding her hand and the girl was looking up at him shyly and you almost puked at their cuteness right there, but you couldn't really; for the same reason that they looked too adorable to puke at.

Just by his smile and the way he looked at her, it was pretty obvious that your brother was smitten. And by the looks of the shy smiles and flushed cheeks of Ms. Lin, the feelings were reciprocated.

You smiled at the discovery that Kyungsoo was actually in love. No wonder he always seemed more excited to go to school here than at the university—

"Are you kidding me? She wants you dude!"

A chuckle echoed through the hall, making you slightly perk up as you recognized the voice that spoke next. "Yeah? You think so?"

Your eyes widened and you bit your lip before looking for a place to hide. You ended up going behind one of the lockers, looking over slightly to the right to check if your suspicions were right.

"You're lucky. She's like the hottest girl in school!" You saw Kim Taehyung, another campus heartthrob, walking in the hallway with his uniform slightly rumpled and his dark hair disheveled. Despite that, he still looked absolutely gorgeous; almost as gorgeous as the guy walking next to him...

"I don't know hyung—“

"Dude! Don't tell me you're going to turn down, Yoojung." Taehyung said, and you felt your heart tighten at his words. Yoojung was your senior and was the epitome of perfection. She was captain of the cheerleading squad, had the face made for television, and the campus' resident "It" girl.

"Anyone would be stupid to turn her down." Jungkook said. The moment the words came out of his mouth, your heart plummeted to the floor; all the hope you felt just a few moments ago, vanished in a blink.

He likes someone else, you thought sadly; looking at the box in your hands which suddenly felt lighter in your grasp.

Perhaps because it's useless now, you thought just as you heard the door to the music room opening and Taehyung shouting, "Annyeonghasseyo seonsaengni—oh!" He paused. "Are we interrupting?" There was a teasing tone to his voice and you knew that your brother was caught in the act.

The moment the door closed, muffling their voices inside the room, you sighed heavily and you leaned your head against the locker.

Stupid, you thought. So stupid to think that a girl like me: boyish, shy, and a bit of a nerd, has a chance with a guy like Jeon Jungkook: handsome, talented, and perfect. He belongs to be with his kind. He deserves to be with someone as perfect as him---someone like Yoojung.

Wake up, Y/N. You told yourself. Wake up.

~~~
The drive home was excruciatingly difficult, considering that you were trying to hold your emotions in as Kyungsoo drove, his hands firm on the wheel and his eyes glued to the road. You didn't even ask about the scene you just witnessed a while ago between him and Ms. Lin simply because you weren't just feeling up to it.
You were also thankful that he was the one driving you home since Kyungsoo wasn't much of a talker and preferred the quietness. The silence between the two of you never felt awkward but always comfortable. And besides, you weren't really up for a conversation as of the moment.
You sighed when you turned at the familiar street, seeing your house come into view a few seconds later. The moment Kyungsoo parked the car, you unbuckled your seatbelt and opened the door in a haste.
"Y/N—?" You didn't even stay to know what your brother had to say before you shut the door in his face, sprinting towards the front door.
The sound of television, video games, and hollers mixed with laughter’s filled the room and though the atmosphere was happy, you felt mocked and a little annoyed by it.
Your brothers were all over the place and the house was in a chaotic state, considering that the living room was currently being occupied by the younger line.
Sehun, Tao, and Luhan were currently in front of the TV, the X-Box plugged in and were playing some kind of fighting game. The others were doing their own thing like Baek and Jongdae playing foosball in the corner, Jongin dancing—walking around the house shirtless while Minseok yells at him to put a shirt on. The others were nowhere to be found, probably in their respective rooms.
"Hey! Look who's home!" Chanyeol announced just as he came out of the dining room with a half bitten apple in hand.
"Y/N! You got to play this!" Tao yelled, his eyes glued to the screen as he tried to annihilate his opponent, which happened to be Luhan. You snorted, knowing that Luhan was a game master and he had no chance.
You ignored them and went straight to the stairs to go up to your bedroom. "Yo, Y/N!" Jongdae yelled and you winced, ignoring his calls.
"Y/N! Yah! Are you ignoring us?!" Baekhyun said incredulously and you yelled back, "Not in the mood!"
You went straight towards your bedroom, passing by Yixing who gave you a small smile. "Hi Y/N—" he stopped when he saw your expression which was a mask of hurt and sadness. "What's wro—“
"Hi oppa. Can you tell them that I won't be having dinner tonight?" Your voice cracked and you bit your lip, causing Yixing to give you a concerned look. "I lost my appetite so I'm just gonna sleep early tonight."
Yixing opened his mouth to say something but you were already walking towards your bedroom, leaving him standing there, utterly worried and confused.
~~~

Sigh.

You lay in bed, looking up at the ceiling and feeling as if you had no use in the world. I shouldn't even be feeling this way, you thought. It's not like we had something...

The image of Jungkook smiling at you—then a conjured up image of Jungkook with Yoojung appeared in your head; the images switching back and forth like it was in a game of tug of war.

"It's not like we were together," you said to yourself, covering your eyes with your forearm. "He didn't even show signs of being interested..."

Although you kept repeating this to yourself, deep down you knew you hoped; hoped that there was something hidden behind those smiles and awkward yet nice conversations....

Is this how it feels to be in love?, you wondered then immediately shut down the thought, groaning and kicking at your blanket, feeling as if you might cry.

Knock… knock...

"I said I'm not coming down for dinner!" You growled, covering your face with a pillow. The door creaked open and you grunted, sitting abruptly to hurl your pillow towards the intruder. You expected it to be one of the crazy ones: Baekhyun, Jongdae, or Sehun; since they’re always the ones who invaded your privacy like they’ve got no care in the world. You stopped when you saw Yixing and Junmyeon by the doorway, looking concerned. “

Hey.” Junmyeon said with a frown. “Can we come in?”

You sighed, having no energy to push them away. Lying down on your bed, you hugged your pillow and said, “What do you want?”

“For you to eat.” Yixing said and from the corner of your eye, you saw him put down a plate of cookies and a glass of milk. You chuckled slightly remembering that it was what your mom used to give you when you were feeling down. “I won’t be able to sleep if I eat that.”

Yixing shrugged with a smile, his dimple showing. “Yeah, but I know it makes you feel better."

Sitting up, you sighed, hugging your pillow to your chest and fidgeting with your nails. “What makes you think I’m not feeling okay?”

Junmyeon snorted and was about to sit on your bed but stopped, remembering how you didn’t like that. “May I?” he asked and you smiled, appreciating that he was polite enough to ask. You moved to your right to make some space for him, leaning your chin on your pillow. “Because that,” he poked your nose. “is not my sister’s happy face.”

“And this.” Yixing sat on the floor, tucking his knees to his chest, imitating your current position. “You’ve been doing this since you were five whenever you feel sad.”

You pouted just as you leaned your head on Junmyeon’s shoulder. “Oppa… am I 'unlikable'?”

Junmyeon and Yixing shared a look before turning towards you. "Unlikeable?"

You shrugged, "I don't know. Am I weird?"

"Why would you be weird?!" Yixing asked, looking puzzled.

“You’re the most sane one here!” Junmyeon added, making you chuckle. “I don’t know,” you shrugged. “Why doesn't anyone like me?"

Upon hearing your words, Junmyeon realized where the conversation was going and he smirked. “Ah I see, this is about the boy—“

“What boy?!” Yixing interrupted. “I thought there was no boy?!"

“It’s complicated.” You huffed. “I just—ugh."

"What's wrong?" Junmyeon asked as he grabbed your hand, slowly massaging it; relaxing your tense form.

"I just don't think a guy like him would go for a girl like me." You admitted. "I mean, he's perfect—“

"So are you." Junmyeon said.

You snorted, "Thanks."

"What?"

"You're my brother." You chuckled. "You're supposed to say that."

"No. I'm supposed to be teasing you and making your life miserable. That's what a good brother does." He said, making you laugh.

"I have enough of those. I have a bunch of brothers downstairs who are doing a pretty good job at that." You patted his shoulder. "Thanks for being a bad brother, then."

Junmyeon chuckled as he grabbed your hand again, squeezing it lightly. "What makes you think this boy doesn't like you?"

"He likes someone else." You shrugged.

"That doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't like you." He explained.

"Or that you're 'unlikeable'." Yixing finger-quoted and you sighed. "Maybe."

"You know what?" Junmyeon suddenly said as he stood up from the bed. "I know what will make you feel better."

"What?"

"I'm gonna go get them right now—“

"Oh my god!" You gasped as you watched him walk towards the door. "Did you get the chocolates—?”

"Of course! I wouldn't come home if I didn't." He smiled. "I was supposed to bring it out on Christmas day to keep the boys from attacking it but I think the situation calls for it—" Just as Junmyeon opened the door, a bunch of guys stumbled into the room, groaning as they all fell to the floor in a heap. "What the—“

"You!" You gasped in disbelief, looking at your brothers. "Were you guys eavesdropping?!"

"No..." They muttered as each of them tried to stand up and attempted to explain himself.

"I was just worried cause you looked miserable when we were driving home." Kyungsoo said.

"Yeah, you were ignoring us too." Baekhyun chimed.

"And you practically declined playing with us when you love beating us to a pulp at video games!" Tao added.

"And you didn't even yell at me for walking around the house half-." Jongin muttered. "Which means there's something wrong."

The boys nodded and you were quite surprised that they even noticed when you thought they were too busy doing their own thing. "I—“

"Who's the boy?" Chanyeol asked, but it didn't have any teasing undertone to it. It scared you at how serious he sounded, since that rarely happens.

"Yeah. Who is he so I can put him on my list of houses to hit up at night." Tao said menacingly as he flexed his fingers as if preparing to punch someone.

"Guys, it's nothing—“

"It's not nothing when you're acting like this." Luhan said as he sat on the floor, looking up at you with a concerned gaze and tapping your knee. "You know you can tell us anything, Y/N. Right?"

The rest of your brothers took their respective places in your room, making themselves comfortable. Some sat on the floor, some leaned on the wall by the door, and the others sat on your beanbags or desk chair. You sighed, wondering how on earth this has suddenly become a family meeting. "Are we really going to talk about—“

"Yes." They answered in chorus.

"But it's nothing—“

"Who's the boy?" Sehun asked.<
