(3rd Person POV)

Sh*t!

She gritted her teeth as she swung the emergency exit door aggressively open, climbing up the flight of stairs to the 4th floor where her apartment was. 

Bang!

She cursed again, gripping the stairs' railing and trying to move as fast as she could without forcing attention to herself. She wasn't supposed to come back but she had no other option. She didn't know they were so close on her heels and she was stupid enough to not have a gun with her when she went down the street to the local convenience store.  Y/N knew there was something suspicious about the man near the chips aisle with the way he glanced at her. And when she caught a glimpse of a gun tucked on his waistband, she knew. 

The more her suspicions were confirmed when she heard sets of footsteps following her the moment she left the store. Luckily, she was able to outmanoeuvre and mislead them towards another building, giving her approximately seven minutes to run and take cover before they discover her trick. 

That's when she knew she had no weapon to defend herself with whatsoever and decided to come back to her apartment to gather some things. 

Opening the door, she moved in lighting speed across her living room, going straight for her bedroom where she kept her revolver tucked beneath the mattress. She loaded it and grabbed a small crumpled photograph taped to her dresser. It was a picture of herself with her father. Just as she was about place it in her pockets, she caught a glimpse of another photograph; one with a boy she knew she would probably not--preferably not see again. Not after she found out--

Bang! Bang! Bang!

She cursed as she ducked to the ground, tucking the picture in the pocket of her leather jacket before crawling against the wooden floors. 

The apartment was silent and she figured they have missed her unit and moved on. She stood and raised her gun as she left her bedroom, aiming and using her peripherals for any sign of an attacker. She moved to the kitchen, thinking that the window by the sink could be a possible escape route. The tree in the back of the building was big enough for her to use as ladder.
