Chapter 21

Jaejoong stared out the window passing through the narrow streets lined with quaint art galleries, shops and restaurants. When the first intersection forced them to stop. Jaejoong watched the steady stream of people walking by. He considered leaping out of the car, with a hand on the latch. He glanced at Seulgi, who seemed unconcerned about possible escape attempt.

Jaejoong let go of the handle and sat back in the seat. He had some idea of how fast a vampire could move. If Seulgi jumped out and grabbed him on the sidewalk, would a scream for help do any good? Or would Seulgi just hypnotize any would be rescuer into forgetting the whole incident? The most likely result of making a run for freedom would be that Seugli would watch him more closely, spoiling any future chance to escape.

It wasn’t long until Seulgi pulled into a parking lot of a convenience store, where she ordered Jaejoong to fill up the petrol tank. She stood over him while he did so. Seulgi then pushed him toward the woman toilets….

“I can’t go in there….” He told her…. But she shoved him

“Like anyone could tell…. Have you looked in the mirror lately? now get in,” she pushed him into a cubicle, and close the door while she stood outside keeping guard. “Don’t tell me you can’t go… go because I won’t be stopping the car again. Naturally the tiny disinfectant-drenched cubicle had no handy window to escape through.”

Jaejoong used the facilities on the premise that one should never pass up the chance, he exited the cubicle and walked over to the sink to was his hand. He looked at himself in the mirror… he was pale also blue… and Seugli staring at him over his shoulder. He soak a paper towel and wiped the sweat that he had up on his brow.  The second he finished Jaejoong turned to Seulgi, only to have Seulgi's cold fingers grabbed his arm and kept hold as she lead him into the convenience store, while she bought a sandwich, an energy drink full of sugar and two bottles of water.

Back in the car, Seulgi everything at Jaejoong apart from one bottle of water. “ Don’t look so surprised, I have to keep my food source well nourished. So eat!” Seugli pulled back onto the road. Jaejoong struggled to hold his voice steady. If he could resist expressing his fear, maybe he wouldn’t feel it so intensely. “

“How long to you plan to hang on to me?”

“Until I get as far away as I can. I don’t trust Yunho in the slightest, so if he changes his mind… at least I have you to keep him at bay.” She looked back at him. “Cheer up, we’ll travel through the night and the end might come as early as dawn tomorrow.”
