Amber just stood there as she saw Henry looking at one shoe after the other, and actually piling the pairs neatly.

She cleared . “What are you doing?”

Henry was too focused on looking at her pairs of shoes and organizing her shoe rack.

Amber sat beside him, and started messing up some of the pairs.

Henry seemed to not mind whatever she was doing, and muttered something under his breath. He then saw what he was looking for. “There it is.”

“What are you doing, Henry?” Amber tried to pull away her foot from Henry. “Stop acting weird.”

“Amber, stop moving your foot. I just need to check something.” He took off her shoe.

“What’s… going on, Henry.” Amber stood up, and tried to grab her shoe from Henry.

Henry turned away from her for him to continue on examining the shoe he was holding. He noticed it was worn out already, and dirty as well. He even smelled the inside of the shoe.

“Oh my God!” Amber took her shoe from him. “Why did you smell my shoe?” She wore the said shoe.

Henry dusted off his two hands of the dirt that came for her shoe. “Do you have anything to do for the rest of the day?”

“I won’t be hanging out with you if I have a schedule.” She adjusted her feet to her shoe to fit properly.

“Great! Your car is at its usual spot at the basement parking or still at the repair shop?

“At its usual spot. Why?”

“Let me just grab your jacket and keys. We are going to do the mall.”

“In the middle of the day? People could see us you know, and think ‘OMG! Henry and Amber are out on a date.’” She tried her best to act like a typical K-POP fan. She even screamed.

Henry carried her over his shoulder. “Put me down Henry!”

“Nope. We are going to the mall, and that is it.” Henry held her waist tightly for her to stop trying to free herself.

“If you run away from me the moment I put you down, I will catch you and carry you out of her like a bride.”

“Better than carrying me like you are kidnapping me.” She put on her jacket and put the keys inside her pocket.

“Whatever you say, Amber” He carried her like a bride out of her apartment.

“Hey! I didn’t run away from you.”

“You will eventually run away after I put you down, so…” He wanted for her to realize what the right thing to do was – let him carry her till they reached her car.

Amber kissed Henry’s cheek. He just stood there, shocked. She took that opportunity to free herself from Henry and run towards the direction of the elevator that was at that time, going down towards the basement parking.

“Took you ten minutes huh” She teased as Henry finally at the car, opening the door of the passenger’s seat. She then started the engine, chuckling because Henry was still touching the cheek she kissed.

Amber stepped on the clutch, released the emergency brake since the light turned green, when Henry kissed her on the cheek. The car’s engine stopped since had done the basic maneuvering of the clutch and gas pedals too quickly. The cars behind them beeped at them.

Amber didn’t say a thing and started the engine, drove away, not causing any more traffic.

“We are here at the mall. Buy whatever you want to buy, so we could go home.” Amber slammed the door, pissed off, and made sure all doors and trunk were locked.

They went in a known shoe brand store. Amber watched Henry as he searched for the shoes he wanted to buy.

A certain design caught her attention. She held it and looked at Henry. “This design suits him way better.” She thought. “Why is he holding that?” She saw a red and black shoe that Henry was holding.    

Henry whispered to the sales clerk the shoe size he wanted. Amber saw the clerk nodding at Henry’s request. The second clerk passed by in front of her. She whispered the shoe size she wanted, and the clerk smiled and nodded at her.

The clerk went back carrying a box for Henry.

The male clerk assisting Henry opened a box of a pair of red rubber shoes with a bit of black on it, while the female clerk assisting Amber was still at the storage room getting the box of pair black rubber shoes with a bit of red. Same model but the color interchanged.

Sitting at one of the chairs at the store, she was still looking at the other pairs of rubber shoes displayed at the store when Henry knelt in front of her and removed on her shoes.

“Time to buy you a new pair. Yours is so dirty.” He untied the shoe laces, held her ankle, and let her wear the shoe to see if he requested the right shoe size. “Fits you perfectly” He smiled at her.

She looked at it, and told herself, “It does fit.”

“Here are the shoes you wanted.” The female clerk smiled at Amber.

“Thanks.” Amber smiled back, and noticed Henry holding her other foot, letting her wear the other shoe.

“I will take this.” Henry told the male clerk, lifting up her foot, and pointing at her new shoe, and gave the clerk some money.

Amber then gave Henry the box she was holding. “These look great on you.”

Henry looked at the open box in front of him, and smiled at Amber. He excitedly tried them on.

“We are buying shoes for each other now.” She laughed as she gave the female clerk the payment for Henry’s shoes. “How sweet!” She teased Henry.

“Then we should have the same design.”

“We are not that sweet.” She pointed out.

“But what about our black caps?” He asked.

“What about them?”

“They have the same design.” He reasoned.

“But we don’t wear in public at the same time. We will look like siblings if we do. Do you want us to look like brother and sister?”

“Like I was saying,” He avoided the topic because he knew she was right, and Amber laughed, “I love the shoes you bought for me. Thanks Amber.” He lifted her since they were the only customer at that time and the clerks were busy putting the shoes inside papers bags.

“Thanks for the shoes Henry. And please put me down.” She was already blushing.

“You drive.” Amber threw the keys to Henry.

“Why?” He caught the keys even if he was carrying the paper bags which contained with their old pairs of shoes.

“So you will be too busy driving to kiss me again.”

“As if driving will stop me from kissing you.”

Amber zipped up her jacket, placed the hoodie over her head, pulled the strings, the hoodie to cover her face, only showing her eyes.
