A/N: Sadly, I can't post this Birthday one-shot on Oct. 11 or on Oct. 10 in the evening because of my Exams Week (End of First Semester). So I decided to post it in advance. Advance Happy Birthday Henry!

“Hi kids!” Amber greeted Sulli and Hyunwoo who were sitting on the sofa watching their drama. “Are you guys watching the replays of your show? Seriously, you know what is going to happen.” She teasingly pointed out the obvious.

 

“Because we have nothing to do,” Sulli spoke. “The two of you have so many free time now to do anything that does not involve your silly little drama.” Amber mentioned. “We can’t go out.” Sulli reasoned.

 

“Why can’t you go out? Is it raining? It’s only 7 pm. The night is still young.” Amber asked, confused. “Duh!” Sulli pointed at Hyunwoo and herself, and looked at Amber as if she didn’t know that they were idols. Amber laughed, “Rookies”

 

“Henry!” Amber called, and Henry immediately went out of the kitchen and sat on the armrest of the single seater sofa Amber was sitting on, with a sandwich on his hand.

 

“What?” Henry spoke, chewing, handed his sandwich over to Amber. “They said that they can’t go out.” Amber pointed at Sulli and Hyunwoo, now eating the chicken sandwich.

 

“And why not?” He asked. “Simply because they were idols,” Amber repeated what Sulli said, passing the sandwich back to Henry, and giving him some space to sit beside her. Henry chuckled, as he took another bite.

 

“Seriously?” He spoke, wiping his mouth. “Both of you are playing the ‘idol’ card. Are you freaking kidding me?” Henry questioned Sulli and Hyunwoo. The said couple in question was already seemed lost at what Henry and Amber were saying. 

 

“We could be in disguise.” Hyunwoo suggested. Amber and Henry just laughed at him. “Disguise,” Amber spoke.

 

“Hyunwoo, Hyunwoo, Hyunwoo.” She added. “Cute Naïve Hyunwoo, you can think of a better plan that. Disguise isn’t even an option here.” She explained, and Henry laughed again.

 

“Are you guys high or something?” Sulli asked. “No.” They spoke in unison. “Are you?” Amber asked her back.

 

“God! Talking you guys is really tiring, and I did nothing today, and yet I am now tired.” Sulli, frustrated, replied to the laughing couple and watched them fit themselves on the single seater sofa.

 

“We go on dates all the time. We go to the mall. We eat out. We watch movies. We talk about our activities to all of our fans online. We keep them updated using our online accounts. We have similar clothes and stuff, and people notice that. So what?” Henry reasoned, gestured to Amber to stand up so he could sit properly.

 

 Amber, now sitting at one of Henry’s legs, while her hand rest on his other leg for support, told the young couple, “And we did all that without having any disguises, or costumes of some sort. We didn’t pretend at all. We were never ashamed of our relationship.”

 

Henry comfortably hugged her around her waist. Henry spoke, tilted his head for Sulli and Hyunwoo to see him, as he rested his head on Amber’s body, “See how we act when we are together. We are like this all the time. We never pretended to anybody else. We are not fooling anyone.”

 

“But you never actually announced to the whole world about this.” Sulli wiggled her finger at the sweet couple. “We don’t have to.” Amber reasoned out. “It is clear as day.”

 

“Still,” Sulli insisted. “If you have your reasons why you don’t announce your relationship to the world, we do have our own reasons why we don’t want to be seen together outside work.” Hyunwoo explained.

 

“Hyunwoo definitely has a point there.” Henry realized. “Which side are you on?” Amber jokingly threatened.

 

“Naïve yet a smart mouth Hyunwoo….” Amber trailed off. “Yes.” Hyunwoo smiled at her. “…damn it, are you so cute? I just forget what I was saying.” Amber spoke. 

 

“The two of you come with me.” Amber instructed them, wearing her hoodie. “Grab your jackets, and put on your shoes as well. I’ll show something outside.” Sulli and Hyunwoo were already outside the dorm room. “Oh, shoot! Hold on to my spare keys.” She smiled at them, went back inside, and locked the door. “There, the two of you are finally outside. Sulli be back here at 10”

 

“Amber!” Sulli shouted. “And here…” Amber spoke behind the door. Hyunwoo laughed as they saw money coming out below the door. “Some extra money for your date tonight.” “Spend it wisely.” Henry shouted from the living room. “If you know what I mean, Hyunwoo.”

 

“Eww!” Sulli shouted again.

 

“Henry, they could do it here, when we are not around. No one will be here tomorrow, around 2 pm. Okay, Sulli.” Amber teasingly suggested. “Nah, I am just kidding. Or am I?”

 

Amber immediately removed her jacket, and rested her head at Henry’s lap. He, sitting on the long sofa, just laughed at the evil yet fun schemes of his girlfriend. “Want some chips?” He offered, while flipping through the channels. 

 

“Oh, my phone is ringing.” She noticed, gesturing to Henry to lower the volume of the TV. “Hello?” Amber answered upon recognizing the number shown in the caller ID, and walked towards her room.

 

“Is this Amber?” A young lady spoke. “The one who left a message on my phone”

 

“Yes, this is Amber.” Amber replied. “The Amber Liu?” The young lady asked, as she recalled the name she heard on the message. “Yes.” Amber spoke.

 

“How did you get my number?” The young lady asked. “I got it from Henry’s phone.” Amber answered.

 

“I called regarding Henry’s birthday,” Amber stated. “O…kay, Amber,” Henry’s sister awkwardly replied, because this is officially their first time talking, and they are talking about Henry.  

 

“I was planning to surprise Henry on his birthday on the eleventh.” Amber spoke. “Yeah, that’s a great idea.” Henry’s sister commented.

 

“I thought of you guys recording your greetings for him, and his friends greeting him too.” Amber responded.

 

“Can we talk some other time? I need to do something so early on a Saturday morning, since its only 6 AM here. Bummer, right? So I need to go now. Can we talk later? Do you have a messenger or something?”  Henry’s sister asked. “Around 10 AM here, so past 11 pm there. Text me your email address.”

 

“Sure. We could text each other the details needed.” Amber spoke. “Bye”

 

“Who are you talking to?” Henry asked as Amber sat next to him. “A new friend of mine,” Amber replied.

“Amber? You’re still up.” Sulli asked upon returning from her date. “You just got home.” Amber spoke. “Sorry about that. We had so much fun.” Sulli mentioned. “Go to sleep then. I still have something else to do.” Amber stated.

 

“It is already almost 11 pm. We have practice tomorrow morning.” Sulli spoke.

 

“Just please go to bed.” Amber requested. “Is this about…” Sulli asked. “Yes.” Amber immediately replied.

 

“Oooh, talking to the in-laws.” Sulli teased. “Shut up and go to bed.” Amber teased back.

Amber immediately clicked “Add to Contacts” upon seeing Henry’s sister’s contact request. She then received a message. “Hello. Sorry I took so long to add you.” Henry’s sister typed in.

 

“No it’s okay.” Amber replied.

 

“So you want to surprise my brother on his birthday. Sweet!” Henry’s sister commented.

 

Amber was about to reply when a call coming from Henry’s sister appeared on her screen. Amber now wide-eyed, answered the call, and it’s a video call. “Hello” She greeted, fixing her camera.

 

“Hi Amber” Henry’s sister greeted back. “My mom is here. I told her that you contacted me about the surprise and she wants to talk to you about it.” Henry’s mom can be seen standing behind her daughter.

 

“Hi Amber!” Henry’s mother waved at her. And Amber waved back and smiled. “Hello”

 

“So I was told about the surprise, so what are you planning to do exactly? I am so excited.” The older woman spoke.

 

“I thought of you guys leaving a video message for Henry. Then I will compile all of them and showed it to him. I am also planning to include all the video messages of his friends, and some videos of all the places and things he misses there.” Amber explained.

 

“But the thing is I can’t go there so I wanted for you guys to do it for me instead if it is not a hassle for you guys.” Amber shyly spoke.

 

“I could do that for you.” Henry’s sister agreed.

 

“Plus we could contact all his friends as well.” The older woman suggested.

 

“Mom? Dad? Where are you guys?” A man’s voice can be heard in the background.

 

“Great! He just arrived.” Mrs. Lau spoke. “Son, come here. Talk to Amber.” She called.

 

“Talk to? Amber? Who’s Amber?” Henry’s brother already sat in front of the computer but still not facing the camera, talking to his sister. “Like Henry’s Amber?” He laughed.

 

“See it for yourself.” Henry’s sister stated. At that, he faced the camera.

 

“It is her.” He pointed at the laptop. “Hello Amber!” He greeted.

 

“Hello!” Amber greeted back.

 

“How’s Henry?” He asked.

 

“Good” Amber replied.

 

“She wants to surprise Henry on his birthday on the eleventh.” The mother mentioned.

 

“Really? Wow! Henry will be so happy for sure.” The brother commented. “What do you want us to do then? What can I help?”    

 

“I wanted for you guys to compile video messages from Henry’s friends and video the places and things he misses there if you’re not busy and all.” Amber explained again.

 

“Excuse me for one minute okay?” Henry’s brother spoke. “Hey, come here for a sec.” He called.  “What?” His sister walked towards him. Then Amber saw him whisper something at his sister.

 

“That’s what they are called, right?” Amber could hear Henry’s brother asking his sister, and the young lady nodded.

 

“You’re the one who told me about that before, remember.” His sister spoke to him. “No, you’re the one.” The eldest brother responded. “No, you’re the one. Whatever! Let us do it together then.” Henry’s sister offered. “Fine,” He spoke.

 

“The two of us could do it for you. Don’t worry. Anything for Henber.” Henry’s brother said. “Henber fighting!” They both cheered.

 

“There I did it. Happy now?” “As if you didn’t want to do it,” His sister .

 

“Did you guys just say Henber?” Amber asked. “Yes” The eldest brother replied.

 

“Even our parents know what Henber is” The youngest sibling spoke.

 

“Oh Henber? Yes, it is their shipping…name, if I am not mistaken. Whatever term kids use today.” Henry’s mother’s reply can be heard in the background. “Honey, we should ship them, right?” Henry’s father spoke.

  

“That’s my Dad by the way.” The youngest mentioned. “Hi Sir” Amber greeted.

 

“Dad, Amber says Hi” The young lady told her father, who was sitting in one of the sofas not so far away. “Anyways, you heard my Dad .We ship you guys.” She proudly spoke. “And the fan fictions are great.”

 

“Are you aware of Henber fan fictions, Amber?” The Henry’s sister asked. “I can give the links if you want.”

 

“Sure. I’ll check them out if I have the time.” Amber said.

 

“There.” Henry’s sister sent the links to Amber, and realized it is so late already. “Oh my! It is past midnight there. Talk to you soon I guess. We’ll start later today on the video messages. Had fun talking to you!” She bid goodbye to Amber.

 

“Bye, Amber Lau.” Henry’s parents suddenly spoke. The rest laughed at what the couple just said.

 

“It’s Liu, not Lau” Henry’s sister corrected her parents as they walked towards her.

 

“Liu, Lau, what’s the difference?” He teased, waving at Amber. “Bye. Thanks for all the help.” She smiled at them. “Bye Amber La…Liu” Henry’s Mom as well.

 

“Still, I think Amber Lau sounds better.” Amber heard what Henry’s father said, before Henry’s sister could end the call.

 

“Amber Lau does sound better.” She spoke to herself as she shut down her laptop.

“Great!” Amber cheered as she saw the videos are already sent to her inbox two days before Henry’s birthday. “Wow! That was fast. And Henry has so many friends.” She spoke, noticing almost a dozen of video messages. “Plus greetings I have collected from Henry’s friends here in Korea, and Taiwan.”

 

During practice, Amber brought her tablet with her. She occasionally watched the birthday video when they were on breaks. And it was already the eve of Henry’s birthday, and she was too nervous to even show this to him personally.   

 

“What are you doing?” Henry asked. Amber jolted, and immediately closed the gadget she was holding, as Henry sat beside her at the practice room. “What are you doing just then?” Henry spoke. “Nothing” Amber replied, as she walked towards her other members.

 

“Sulli, don’t let Henry open this.” Amber insisted, handing it over to Sulli. Luna and Krystal distracted Henry from looking at Sulli and Amber, and asked him to buy them food.

 

“Is she mad at me? Did I did something wrong?” Henry asked Luna. “No, she’s just hungry. You know her if she’s hungry, she acts really weird.” Luna spoke. “No, she doesn’t” Henry replied. “Now she’s like that, so go buy her food pronto.” Krystal insisted.

 

“Hi, guys.” Hyunwoo greeted. “Great! You’re here.” Amber gently dragged him at the nearest corner. “Sulli” She gestured for Sulli to come near her.

 

“Hyunwoo, I want you to hold this. Don’t let Henry use this, okay?” Amber instructed. “Sure.” Hyunwoo agreed. “Great! Thank you. I owe you one.” She cheered. “Now I see why our Jinri likes you.”  

 

Henry saw Amber and Hyunwoo talking. They were smiling at each other, Hyunwoo holding the tablet. “So here’s my plan…” It was only got decipher on what Amber and Hyunwoo were talking about, before him being dragged outside by Luna and Krystal.

 

Hyunwoo was sitting alone watching Sulli and the others practicing, still holding Amber’s tablet. Amber kept on looking at Hyunwoo and her tablet.

 

“Sulli, Henry’s on the move.” Amber whispered.

 

Sulli was already ready to distract Henry when Donghae called the birthday boy, “Henry” “You are needed in our practice room.”

 

Donghae looked at Amber before exiting f(x)’s practice room, and pointed at her. Amber just smiled at him.

“Happy birthday Henry!” At exactly 12 am, October 11, all 11 men greeted Henry, and sang the happy birthday song for him in three different languages, and gave their gifts for the 23 year old birthday boy.

 

Someone knocked, and surprisingly not only for Henry, but for the rest of the Super Junior to see Hyunwoo at the door, holding a tablet.

 

“She instructed me to give you this. So here it is, take it.” Hyunwoo spoke. “I think I don’t need to say who she is. I think you already know who the owner of this tablet is.” Hyunwoo stated. “Happy Birthday Henry”

 

Henry looked at the said gadget. It was password protected. He knew it was Amber’s. He immediately typed in the password for the fact that he knew that it is his birthdate - 1-0-1-1, even if Amber didn't tell him herself. He smiled at the thought of her using his birthday as her password for the meantime, as he looked at the screen of the tablet.

 

It immediately showed the lists of videos. And he saw a video entitled, “To my boy Henry”.  He smiled instantly upon seeing the title.

 

He clicked the play button, as he was about to call Amber when he saw the faces of his parents, and heard them greeting him. He saw everyone he knows back in Canada greeting him a Happy Birthday. He saw some of his Korean and Taiwanese friends as well. The video showed messages from SHINee, Super Junior, Girls’ Generation, TVXQ, EXO-K and EXO-M, BoA, f(x), Kangta, every artist in SM, except for Amber. He was waiting for Amber’s message. She to be included in the video wasn’t even part of Amber’s plan in the first place.

 

He was already planning to put down the tablet, thinking the video already ended when it only showed black screen for like half a minute, when he heard Amber’s voice, and saw Amber fixing the camera before she gives her message. “I don’t know what to say. Okay, you can do this.” She spoke to herself and looked again to the camera.

 

People would say ‘To see is to believe.’ But I think it’s the other way around. ‘To believe is to see.’

 

You need to believe in it first for you to truly see it. Believing that it exists, that it is out there, and then you can truly say that you can truly see its existence and value its importance to your life.

 

That is what you always say to me that I will always remember.  You say things that are full of hope, just to cheer me up. You never fail to make me smile. You are the only that could see the real me.

 

Thank you for believing in me, in us. Thank you for loving me.

 

 

“Hey, what’s up?” Amber suddenly sat beside Henry, acting like nothing just happened. Acting like she didn’t intended to suddenly appear right after Henry watched the video.

 

“Did you receive any good gifts for your birthday?” She asked.

 

“You know what. I just watched this video that this beautiful and amazing girl made for me.” Henry bragged. “Sadly, I can’t thank her personally.”

 

“I will say in her behalf, you’re welcome, Mochi.” Amber spoke.

 

“I think this girl loves me.” He confidently spoke.

 

“I guess this girl you’re talking about, this amazing girl that gave so much effort to edit that video for like two days, really really loves you.” She assured him.

 

“Happy Birthday Henry” Amber greeted him. Henry then stole a kiss from Amber.   

 

“Best birthday ever!” He proudly cheered.

And the Amber's message in the "video" in this one-shot is actually Chapter 8, a drabble. 

 

I hope I didn't miscalculate on the time difference between countries and on the number of days before Oct. 11. :) lol
