Epilogue.
Trapped.
Kris let out a shaky breath, closing his eyes as his head was threatening to pound with an upcoming migraine caused by the few glasses of scotch he’s been drinking since an hour ago. The news about him moving back to China with his parents should’ve made him happy; on the contrary, it made his mood gloomy and un-doubtable-ly he was miserable.
Kris held his 6th glass (not that he was counting) and lifted it with a shaky hand, pausing as the cold glass touched his pink lips. He stared ahead at nothing, still refusing to take another sip from his drink, not really knowing what he was staring at, what he was thinking about.
Kris noticed the chair beside him being occupied, he glanced above his shoulder at a lean, tall, rebellious looking, young man, who wore a black, fitted, leather jacket, a dark-grey wife’s beater, and long, skinny, leather pants that fitted him all too well. The latter’s piercings gave him a more dark, and heavy metal look, fitting perfectly with his snow-white, pushed up hair.
The latter noticed Kris’s inquiring gaze, he stared back at him with a raised eyebrow and a knowing look, to his surprise, Kris’s stare didn’t falter, he kept it still, straight into the latter’s eyes.
“Tao… right?” Kris voiced out his sudden thought, the latter smirked lightly, he turned his head and focused on the drink that was put in front of him that Kris didn’t notice him ordering, flashing the bartender a seductive wink before turning to look at Kris again then turning his stare back to his drink.
“Kris Wu.” Was all he said, he took a sip from his drink and put the glass down, staring for a few seconds ahead, he turned to look at Kris with a cold, yet mischievous smirk, that made Kris’s attention reach its peak. They stared into each other’s eyes for God knows how long, until both got a little uncomfortable and looked away.
“So what brings the most famous bachelor in Asia here? Why the pout?” Tao joked and Kris let a small laugh as he stared at the counter for a second, thinking of something to say, Kris lifted his gaze to space and wondered what to answer to not look as pathetic as he felt.
“Well… My parents just told me they’re moving back to China and that I have to go as well to make sure the company works well there… and my ex-wife is getting married like…” Kris raised his hand and took a glance at his watch before talking again. “… About now…” He gave a small, pathetic smile that made Tao’s eyes fall to the counter in pity.
“I’m sorry…” The latter said with a faint voice.
“You don’t have to be…” Kris snorted, ironic how e’s actually beating himself up for treating Ji eun in the worst ways ever, though he’s gay, what he did to her shouldn’t be forgiven.
“In your defense…” Tao began, making Kris turn to look at him again with interested eyes. “… It’s not like you actually loved her…” Toa raised the glass as a reassuring smile made its way to his lips.
“…I’m actually glad that marriage is over, a guy like you, it would’ve been such a loss if you 2 stayed together… I mean there aren’t a lot of handsome gay men around here, so…” Kris smiled a little and let out a small laugh, he was a bit appreciative of the latter’s efforts to make him feel better.
“Stop hitting on your hyung, kid…” Kris exclaimed mockingly and took another sip from his drink.
“I’m telling the truth, and I’m not a kid anymore…” Tao’s voice was teasing and sweet, it made Kris’s heart flutter a bit. The latter still questions himself how he never noticed how handsome and sweet Tao was before? That bad aura was so hot and attractive that it made Kris actually considers making an effort to talk to him.
With some time passing by, a few glasses of drinks laid aside, a lot of laughter and silly stories in between, Kris looked back at the latter and spoke with an interested, lustful, dark voice.
“Should I buy you another?” Tao turned to look at him, a little confused as to what he meant.
“… The drinks, they’re on me tonight.” Kris smirked, and Tao gave him a knowing look, turning away he let out a small laugh of amusement and stared ahead, smiling to himself in pride.
“Are you trying to take me home with you Wu?”
“Depends… do you want me to try?”
Tao turned to face him one last time, biting his lower lip and setting it free for it to stretch into a wide, cat like grin, the latter let out a shaky laugh which Kris took as a yes.
It’s been a month.
A month since Luhan confessed.
A month since he opened up and laid his feeling (stupidly) on the table.
A month since he last saw Sehun.
And Luhan can’t be more miserable, because he knew that was downright a rejection. Luhan remembers how the latter looked at him, how shocked and panicked he was, how pale and shaky he seemed, Luhan knew that look, the look of a straight, homophobic guy, who’s too engrossed in panic to appreciate someone’s genuine feelings.
Luhan went home that day with void eyes, and an aching heart, he remembers crying himself to sleep like a sissy for almost 3 nights. Looking at himself in the mirror right now, he sees how his eyes look bloodshot red, tired and black, puffy bags formed around it. He remembers how he desperately tried to cover those bags with no use what so ever.
Even when Xiumin tried to make it all better, even when Ji eun asked him to be her maid of honor, nothing changed, the pain was still there, it wouldn’t go away that easily anyway.
Luhan put the last finishing touches on his face, taking a deep breath as he viewed his reflection in the mirror as one of a decent guy, Lay’s sleeping pills worked wonders, and now he was really glad he asked the latter to give him some. Three days of sleeping and his face looks all refreshed and healthy as always, a perfect cover up for his miserable state and his broken heart.
A knock on the door made Luhan turn around, Ji eun’s head popped from behind the door with a playful smile, she was almost ready, only lacking the veil. Ji eun stepped in and closed the door behind her slowly, moving closer to Luhan as she wrapped her arms ever so lovingly around her best friend’s waist.
“You look hot, it’s distracting… I’m afraid I’ve changed my mind about marrying Chanyeol now and I’ve decided to marry my hot, y best friend whom everyone wants to date.” She leaned in and gave him a little peck on the cheek; Luhan giggled and looked at her with appreciative eyes, smiling like a little kid.
He pulled away from her embrace and stepped back a little to view her better.
“Turn around…”
Ji eun turned around in her place, smiling as Luhan stared at her with loving eyes that were a bit wet with unshed tears.
“Luhan…” She began with a faint, worried voice and Luhan cupped her cheeks.
“They’re happy tears; I swear… you just look so beautiful, I’m so proud of you.” Her eyes softened and she wrapped her arms around him again pulling him close.
“Thank you…” She whispered.
“For what?”
“I wouldn’t have been here without your help…” Ji eun answered and nuzzled her face in his neck, Luhan smiled to himself at her exclamation, he loved her deeply, she was his real best friend (and Xiumin of course), it felt like he was marrying his sister off.
“You don’t have to thank me, that’s my job as your maid of honor…”
2 best men.
6 groomsmen.
2 Bride’s maids.
And one maid of honor.
It wasn’t your regular wedding.
Ji eun chose Luhan as her maid of honor, a decision that her mother herself found completely ideal knowing how close her daughter and the latter were. Ji eun turned a deaf ear to both Yoona and Krystal’s constant nagging about how absurd it would look for her to pick her gay best friend as the maid of honor, she found it a totally fresh and new idea that would leave people talking about her wedding for years (Also it would make people forget the fact that this was her second wedding).
Chanyeol picked Baekhyun and Key as his best men, feeling absolutely jealous, Baekhyun turned down the offer at first, claiming that it was humiliating to stand with someone else beside Chanyeol at the altar; he claimed that he should be superior over all of them considering that he had known Chanyeol the longest. After a lot of bickering and pleading, Baekhyun finally agreed to do it (Because Taeyeon threatened to break up with him and he felt totally betrayed, but that’s another story)
The wedding went smoothly, with a lot of ‘Oohs and Aahs’ in the background, people were stunned by Ji eun’s beauty, and by Chanyeol’s handsomeness. ‘The perfect couple’ everyone agreed on that, they were by all means fit to be together.
“I, Park Chanyeol take you Lee Ji eun to be my lawfully wedded wife… to love and to cherish…”
