It was sometime in the beginning of December, a few days after Ji eun ran away from Chanyeol’s room. Ji eun has stopped counting time, she was tired, frustrated, angry, she was everything but happy. Ji eun hated herself, she hated her life, and somehow along the way she started hating her parents as well, because 2 days ago, her parents broke the news about her marriage to Kris.

2 days ago, her body, heart, and mind stopped functioning, because her parents promised to give her the freedom she wanted at last, but not before she was married to her best friend. It’s not that she didn’t love Kris, she did, and somehow she loved him more than anyone, but not more than Chanyeol, and not enough to be married to him.

First, she thought they were kidding, or maybe proposing the idea, but then she realized they were saying the truth. She then thought that Kris would step in, to break off the plans, he loved Suho she knew that, but apparently the latter was okay with it. Ji eun found out shortly after that Kris even set up a date for an engagement party, where Ji eun would be introduced to the public, but not as the heir of IU enterprise, she was going to be introduced as Wu Yi Fan’s Fiancé.

It was like life wasn’t even sparing her some time to be happy, luck was never on her side. Ji eun was somehow convinced that she burnt a country in her previous life, because that would explain why she was bound to stay utterly miserable.

And here she was, sitting on the dining table, Kris on her right, her mother on her left, his parents facing them, and her father sitting at the head of the table. It was a nice, cozy family diner, where the elders discussed the wedding details, while both Kris and Ji eun sat silently, misery appearing on their faces.

It was agonizing, talking about all those details, those plans, her future life that she had no say in. Her mother even decided everything for her, where they’d prepare for the wedding, where they’d live; even her wedding dress was already being prepared without her picking it. Ji eun didn’t know whether to cry about how suffocating this was, or laugh at the irony of the situation. From all the people she met in her life (which weren’t that many) Kris was the one she was getting married to, he was gay, in love with another man, he was her lover’s enemy, and he was her best friend. That picture was definitely a wrong one.

She sighed silently every few minutes, she was starting to get a head ache from all the details she was listening to, and she didn’t notice that Kris noticed her agony. Kris raised his head from his plate and cleared his throat, all the heads in the room turned to him as he grabbed their attention.

“I think you got all the details covered here…” He spoke hesitantly, keeping his eyes on the plate in front of him. “… Can I and Ji eun be excused for a while?” Ji eun looked questionably at him, but then turned to look at her mother and Mrs. Wu as they squeaked in approvement. The elder men nodded as well, and Kris wasted no time to grab Ji eun’s hand and pull her from the suffocating atmosphere.

Kris kept walking, dragging Ji eun behind him while ignoring her protests and questions, until the finally reached their usual spot in the back garden. Ji eun sat with an annoyed expression, pulling away from his hand as he loosened his grab on her hand. She didn’t want to be with him right now, she just couldn’t, it was too hard for her to talk to him, because she was angry at him for agreeing to such thing. Kris was her best friend for God’s sake, he knew very well how much she loved Chanyeol, even though she left him, she wasn’t supposed to marry someone else.

Kris noticed her stubborn look, she was going to give him the silent treatment, he walked back and forth in front of her, sighing loudly as he ran his fingers through his silky, blonde hair in frustration. When his steps finally came to a halt, he looked at her with pleading eyes and started.
